Open letter to Nancy Whitlock: Many people simply record their votes and walk away. They wouldn't complain, because they wouldn't know anything was wrong. And if even one vote was flipped, that's a malfunction. It suggests an unreliable machine.
If your new car stalled out as you drove it away from the dealer, and the salesman said to you,
"Nobody else who bought a car today complained, so it's O.K.," would you be satisfied? Or would you say, "Unless you fix this car and explain to me why this happened, I want my money back."????

Now, though, we know more about where to look in the logs for evidence of vote-flipping.
NOTICE TO ANYONE WHO EXPERIENCES VOTE-FLIPPING:
Note the precinct location, precinct number, TIME OF VOTE, and if possible, the serial number of the machine.
For Sequoia, with the above pieces of information, your experience can be found in the log. If it is omitted from the log, that is a different kind of problem.

We must unite and refuse to vote using machines over paper ballots.
All the greedy people are playing their part well. They are awakening this nation as written in Gods' divine plan. They will not escape from their treasonous choices and will answer to Gods' laws. Those simple commandments have been forgotten, mostly by supposed christians. What price, freedom? They have made their choice and they will reap what they sowed.
All we others can do is councel them regarding the errors of their ways and explain, through writing our newspapers, letters to the editor and get off our buts and demonstrate legally and peacefuly whenever we can, until this administration admits our power is too overwhelming when we come together as one. The light shall win over the dark and as we do, we need to embrace these dark ones and give them the love we all need. Provide them the forgiveness we all need. Enjoin them to choose anew and join the light which is presently permeating all the lies of the dark ones.
Let's all combine as one and recreate paradise on earth as it will be again. Our thoughts, then our actions, create the changes we need to destroy the illusionary world and usher in the new reality.
One more thing. The money that the dark ones steal from us and hoard away is not backed by anything except OPEC. Love for one another is backed by God.

I know what's causing those electronic voting machines to flip/flop votes and go haywire,...
It has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats,
nothing as nefarious as all that,..
The voting machine companies who brought us those nice user friendly,.. quick as a bunny voter tabulations and counts,.. those privately owned
business enterprises are not to be criticized,.. they should be worshiped,.. during 200 years of
democracy we never had a clean , fair, or
honest election,.. until those marvelous machines
were introduced to the market place.
The fault is directly attributed to the voter,... of course those voting machines are finicky,.. it it a
hi-tech state of the art piece of equipment. Some
machines go quirky if you have washed your
hands with "Irish Spring" soap,.. other machines
won't tabulate your vote,... unless it is you strictly
used "Zest" hand soap. And then there is the issue of hand lotions,... some voting machines are "Neutrogena" hand cream compatible others operate better if you use "Intensive Care Lotion".
Now,... you ladies and your finger nail polish the multitude of brand names and array of colors,.. is it any surprise these voting machines become confused and readily inoperative.
There should be a law that a voter can not enter the voting booth unless they are dresses in a
haz-mat suit,... a respiratory dust mask,... a hair net, and latex gloves. These election polling places have to be run like a computer chip manufacturing
plant - "clean-rooms" ,... one nano-speck of dust can throw the entire election to the exact opposite
direction of the voters intent.
It is a human hygiene issue,.. good Lord give the
wonderful electronic voting machines a break.

I think Texas Arcane and Lillith have a point. Americans love to focus on runaway brides, celebrity divorces, Michael Jackson, steroids in baseball, TV sitcoms and award shows, cartoon characters, chick-lit books, white girls who disappear (but not black girls), weather problems, faux courtrooms on TV, and all manner of scandals.
Americans also prefer shopping to reading, sports to social policy, and material goods to doing good.
But Americans aren't stupid. If we were, wealthy foreigners (including oil sheiks) wouldn't be sending their kids here to be educated at enormous expense. It's not stupidity, it's a lack of values, perpetuated by a consumer/media/corporate culture that cares more about our having a wallet full of credit cards than a brain full of ideas.

You said "Americans are the world's stupidest people". That sounds like a republican talking point run amok. It does show, however, that the republican "faith based" talking point scenario is really "hate based".
Where did you pick up all that hatred? Don't answer, I think I already know: hate filled religionists.
I went to your website (Obviously-you-need-some-therapy.com), which says among other things:
"Human beings are robots, with little more internal awareness than domesticated animals."
"Political convictions in 99% of the population are entirely rooted in biology and have nothing to do with conscious reasoning processes"
"All my life, I have proven time and time again I can create limitless rage in others"
--- // ---
You have nothing but contempt for the human race, so if I take you at your word you are not human.
All I can say is that I have suspicions that you are a Diebold voting machine that has been left stored alone too long in one of Ken Blackwell's vote machine hiding places (where he keeps them when they are needed).
But if I am wrong, and you are, in spite of denials, a human ... then I have some advice for you and for the hate filled religionists feeding you the poison:
Try love ... it is the antidote.

THERE SHOULD BE NO "DEFAULTS".
Does anyone get this? And it's standard. The default was Bush for 2000/2004. That means if there's any screwups, the default gets the vote. And I read where Bush was the default. Why is there a default?
Someone should check out these "defaults." It's one of the most under-reported stories on voting machines. There should be no defaults. It's like a "catch-all", and it's biased to have a default to one candidate.

Some good old-fashioned baiting going on, up above. I wouldn't bother biting. Keep your "eye" on the point:
These machines consistently prove themselves to be inaccurate. This can't be allowed to go on!
If you cannot see this, with all the evidence Ms. Harris, et al, has uncovered, then you run the risk of being insulted, whether or not you're an American...but...
...if the shoe doesn't fit, you don't have to wear it, and should feel no need to react to such comments.
More to the point is BLUEBEAR2 (#1) echoing my comment (#7 in the "Moscow Times" thread) that maybe the only way to bring public attention to this scandal is a new "Boston Diebold/Tea Party" (How about "Boston 'E' Party"?). Somehow, major attention needs to be brought to these overpriced garbage cans.

I used to work on kiosks for retail, and I can tell you that the touchscreens are VERY delicate. No matter what kind they are, pulling a sharp object across the screen, such as an exacto knife or sharp nail file could severely damage it and make it inoperable until repaired or replaced.
So, keep that in mind if there are these devices in your voting precinct.
If you are one of the first people into the booth early in the morning, don't have your sharp object in your hand while you are voting or you might accidentally drag it across the screen. That could ruin the machine for the day. And heaven knows, if everybody had such an accident, the precinct would have to resort to provisional ballots for all people and the poor GOP'ers who programmed the kiosks to flip votes would have to spend all their time switching votes at the vote COUNTING center, rather than the vote COLLECTING kiosk.
So, whatever you do, don't accidentally damage the voting kiosk early in the morning on voting day. You could cause total chaos in the voting process.
You've been warned.

machine or paper ballot they both are easily manipulated. remember what got the country on the move to voting machines was an election with paper ballots. missing ballots, miss calculations and blanted fraud have been inharent in the system almost since its conception. the problem is a larger one and until heads role nothingis going to change. those that could bring a reform are the very ones who relie on the current structure to get where they are. also consider what percent of people actually vote, in that what number of them are aware of how inconsitant the system is, and then how many speakout. the voice is rather small to those who dont care or don't want to upset thier status quo. i vote in florida, for what that vote is worth

I got it as did most thinkers. The Boston e-party is good but we all have to be prepared for some jail time. I think our best bet is good exit polling. People should not be afraid to say who they voted for as they leave the booth. In fact they should hand out stickers to put on their shirts and shout out loud. The secrecy bit when we vote just adds to the credibility of the machines.

I suppose the problem is, humans (at least most of them in the U.S.) don't WANT to think. There are a lot of us out there that DO think (as evidenced on this blog), but the "vast majority" don't give a shit. They are content to lie to themselves (a.k.a. believe Repuke talking points) so they can "have more" and "show off".
I'm sorry guys, but I have to agree with some of the points made here.. especially some Dredd pulled from that guys site. Humans, as a species, don't seem to be very much more than shit-flinging monkies. Take a SERIOUS look around you.. take a look at what "most people" value. We have trolls coming here and saying crap like "don't burn my fries or I'll report you to your manager".. then later "when I drive up to your manager (who isn't at a fast food place), I'll be in my mercedes.. .or should I drive up in my volvo? or my ritzy foriegn bike!".. See, "bling" is what most people care about, kind of like how plain metal lures work on fish .. a little sparkle and off they go, acting without thinking.
Americans are among the WORST in the world for it. Dirt poor people living in squallar driving 20 year old Cadillacs.. why? cause "having a caddy means you have value as a person".. what bullshit! And we buy into it.. That's EXACTLY what Corporate America WANTS.. Uneducated people chomping at the next shiny thing to glint past.
If America is "so great", why are we not near the top of the list on Education? Saying "people from other countries send their kids here to get aducations" is to IGNORE that you're talking about "college".. NOT "mainstream education". American IS IGNORANT, and that is by design.. Shruggy didn't put a financial strain on public education by accident. Educated voters don't tend to be Republicans.. not "truely educated".. we're not talking those twits who get an MBA so they can go run someone's business.. that's not "education", that's "training".
I keep saying "most people suck", but the truth is, I don't have a lot of access to people from other countries. I have to pull back my statement to "Americans suck" on that premise, though, most times I meet people from other places, they aren't much different than Americans.
If you want to look at "facts" and deal with "reality", the TRUTH is, "humans aren't very bright" and "humans are amungst the cruelest of all living creatures".
Here's another movie quote for you, Joan. "A person is smart and rational, People are stupid and panicy" (or there about). Men in Black when Will Smith wonders why Tommy Lee Jones doesn't just "tell the people, they will understand".. The truth is, "people" as a general rule, aren't bright.. and can't think or process information that is counter to their perspective. We have PROOF of that in Psychology.. test prove that you see what you want to see, not what's there (in the 'average' person). People don't want to see Global Warming cause they'd have to scrap their SUVs that NEVER go off road. They don't see Peak Oil because they'd have to stop being a disposable/wasteful nation. They don't care about electronic voting machines because they only see them once or twice a year and figure "those people are doing their jobs", nevermind the fact that Americans have one of the worst work ethics in the civilized world.
TV poisons the mind of the "average person". Makes them slow-witted and zombified consumers. We don't like to think of "humans" in those terms, but look around at all the people still supporting Shrubby based on right-wing talking points (which are false). Look at all the people driving Hummers who never take them off-road.. look at all the people driving Cadillac Escalades who never take them off-road. Look at all the people in the ghetto who can't afford decent living conditions but have thousands of dollars of gold around their necks.
And here we have a perfect example of how pathetic we are.. This guy WATCHES his vote get flipped, and accepts "it's just you, it's just a one-time glitch" despite all the information that's out there? So many people willing to take advantage of each other so they can have "stuff".. and so many people willing to sit back and let those people leech off of them, enslave them, control them, ruin their chances to have a decent life for themselves and their prosperity.
Our Fore Fathers are turning in their graves.

I love you cause you speak your mind and you tell us what we are thinking ... in one area of our psyche. But Savantster my brother ... we are all complex and complicated.
As I go thru that area of my psyche that would indict and blame my America, and as I analyze it, and go back and analyze the hate mongers to detect how I might perform as them ... and still claim the high ground ... I always come to the realization that if I am like them in my behavior ... I loose the high ground.
WE cannot at the same time claim that the machines were hacked, giving Bush a fraudy victory, and at the same time say Americans are idiots for voting for him.
That is contradictory. Trollish. Foolish.
So which is it?
And if I extol the virtues of exit polling, saying good for the Ukraine, they revolted against the government because the exit polls did not match the official election results ... and then I do not believe in exit polls ... that is contradictory. Trollish. Foolish.
Listen.
I do not think Americans are foolish in the final analysis. I like Americans. They are very diverse, very different, and I think I understand them.
They will give their leaders a lot of rope. They will not scrutinize them too closely. Why? They DEMAND that their leaders promote America when America is not looking. When America is out enjoying the earth, a barbeque, a sitting at the beach, or a beer at the bar.
And there is a part of America that is like Brave Heart. Not phoney bullshit America ... but deep and real America. Not political party America.
An America you do not want to fuck with!
This republican administration and this republican congress has fucked with America.
And America is brooding. Smoldering.
And I swear to God if America, the pondering jury, decides they have had enough ... these fellas are going to reap the whirlwind.
My God, they are in such deep shit that America will hunt them down. They cannot run and they cannot hide.
I mean it Savantster. Keep the faith brother.

"WE cannot at the same time claim that the machines were hacked, giving Bush a fraudy victory, and at the same time say Americans are idiots for voting for him."
Here's a problem.. I never said "Americans are idiots for voting in Shrubby".. I've always held that we aren't -that- stupid.. it was the unreliable machines and shifty politicos that put Shrubby in (in 2000, more the machines in 2004 it seems). Ther is no contradiction "from me". Though, I can see your point.. which also confirms MY point.. there are those out there that do both, as you say.. -those- people can't be that bright if they can't understand it's one or the other.. either idiots voted him "in", or machines facilitated it. I think the fuzzy is, "there are a lot of idiots that voted for him", but not enough
"I do not think Americans are foolish in the final analysis. I like Americans. They are very diverse, very different, and I think I understand them."
And I go back to the "a person, not people".. I've met some decent "people" too.. plenty.. and I only associate with "decent people". But I've seen way too many "people" who are an absolute disgrace. When you have shows like "Street Smarts" and large portions of our society don't know how many states there are in the union, I have to say to my self "holy shit!". As a "society", we're falling apart..
Which brings us to "America".. I, personally, LOVE "America".. the premise, priciples (as espoused), the historical grit and determination.. Don't get me wrong.. I'm far from "Anti-America".. What I -am-, though, is "anti-fat/lazy/self-important/ignorant/superficial/arrogant/cruel/greedy AmericaNS"... Does that show the difference?
I'm proud to be an American.. someone from the (once) great country of America. But I'm ashamed at the "people" who generally populate my country, and those leaders and 2% who continue to shit on "us" and exploit us and denegrate out potential for their own personal greed. And I fault "Americans" in general for allowing themselves to fall into that trap because it was "easy" and "fulfilled their immidate needs" without paying attention to "the future" and "the greater good".
*shrug* just me.. And if "we" do rise up against the oppression and abuses we're subject too, I hope to find BradBlogians to fight with. It would be an honor to help take back our country in the company of such fine Patriots

First of all, by definition, the I.Q. of a nation is set to 100. I don't know where you got the 96 I.Q. figure from, unless you are measuring America against the "world's average" (an innaccurate measurement, as every nation has different standards of education and knowledge, and are not directly comparable).
Secondly, those of you who are not in this country, especially in Europe, who claim to be so progressive, are at the same time allowing yourselves to be subjected to a multitude of draconian laws. Your parliaments and national assemblies (Britain particularly, but also EU nations) have enacted laws severely restricting or even eliminating whatever freedoms you previously had in the name of security. In America, sadly, the same has happened to a similar degree, but at least now there is serious opposition in the public and in some parts of Congress; Europeans and their legislatures have barely made a peep.
Additionally, European nations have put into force extremely repressive anti-freedom of speech laws. Even if there are people whose opinions we don't like (Communist or Neo-Nazi tendencies, etc), we don't have the right to imprison them, as has happened to several non-violent historians in Europe recently. America has every breed of ideology (some, to say the least, which are quite disagreeable) parading around, and yet radical groups are either very small/impotent or effectively non-existent. This is because when eveyone has a voice, and everyone can hear each side of an issue, the radical ideology is brought to light as what it is --- an irrational fringe movement.
If you would take some time to stop criticising the entire American populace for the actions of some of its rogue top officials, and instead focus on those of us in the U.S. who are trying to make the situation better and help, then you would hopefully come to see the error of your ways.

"First of all, by definition, the I.Q. of a nation is set to 100"
false.. 100 is "average", not for a nation, but for "everyone".
"I don't know where you got the 96 I.Q. figure from, unless you are measuring America against the "world's average" (an innaccurate measurement, as every nation has different standards of education and knowledge, and are not directly comparable)."
First, the 100 is set as "average".. if you poll/test 10,000 Americans and they "average" 96, you have the "American average", which has nothing to do with other countries. If we're at "96", it implies we're slipping from the "100" that I suspect we used to be at. That means, as a "rule", Americans are "less able to think".. which brings us to "second"
Second, IQ is not about "knowledge".. in fact, the "proper IQ test" asks NOTHING about knowledge.. it's about "problem sovling".. "which of these doesn't belong".. "what's the natural progression of this string of numbers".. etc etc. Not something like "who was the 12th president of the U.S.".. that's not an IQ test question, that's a civics question.. Therefore, properly adjusted "IQ tests" DO span across national boundries.. and IS a valid measuring tool.
I'm not even gonna bother with anymore. This thread is about how some asshole saw his OWN VOTE flip, and wasn't smart enough to scream to high hell. He's not using his brain when he accepts the reason of "it's just you, no one else saw anything like that.. it's a fluke". That defies reason and logic and REQUIRES investigating. Yet, the "not as smart as average" American populace continues letting fringe kooks and zealots lie to them. One has to think, if the populace wasn't so "dumb", why do they keep falling for the same OBVIOUS LIES over and over?

"The figures were obtained by taking unweighted averages of different IQ tests. The number of studies is very limited; the IQ figure is based on one study in 34 nations, two studies in 30 nations. There were actual tests for IQ in 81 nations. In 104 of the world's nations there were no IQ studies at all and IQ was estimated based on IQ in surrounding nations.[6] The number of participants in each study was usually limited, often numbering under a few hundred.
"There is controversy about whether IQ is a valid measurement of intelligence...It is generally agreed that many factors, including environment, culture, demographics, wealth, pollution, and educational opportunities, affect measured IQ.
"Most IQ tests in the United States tend to use a SD-15 or SD-16 scale, meaning that one standard deviation corresponds to +/- 16 points on the IQ scale. However, European IQ tests tend to use a SD-24 or SD-25 scale, resulting in discrepancies. Therefore, an IQ of 130 (+2 standard deviations) in the U.S. might correspond to an IQ of 148-150 in Europe. Due to these differences, percentiles are more accurate measurements than IQ numbers."
These are from the Wikipedia articles for I.Q. and Most IQ tests in the United States tend to use a SD-15 or SD-16 scale, meaning that one standard deviation corresponds to +/- 16 points on the IQ scale. However, European IQ tests tend to use a SD-24 or SD-25 scale, resulting in discrepancies. Therefore, an IQ of 130 (+2 standard deviations) in the U.S. might correspond to an IQ of 148-150 in Europe. Due to these differences, percentiles are more accurate measurements than IQ numbers.
These quotes are from the Wikipedia articles "I.Q." and "I.Q. and the Wealth of Nations". And the United States average I.Q. is 98, not 96.

Thanks, Roger, I appreciate the kind words.
And thanks, Savantster & Dredd for being two of my favorite Bradblogians. That was great. Circuitous, but good. Like a nice walk in the woods.
This saying comes to mind:
I love mankind. It's PEOPLE I can't stand.

My experience at work is naivete. Try to mention hackable voting machines and most people don't believe it. I was practically attacked at work just mentioning Diebold and that here in Florida now, recounts will be done by machine. No one believed it! They are so naive that something like this can happen - "we live in America, it can't happen". Really!! Guess again! You have to remember that when someone hears something that they don't like, anger and name calling are next. It hits too close to home! Keep mentioning the facts and anger and name calling become disbelief. From disbelief to "what can we do?" Rigged machines are too much for some people to handle!

I would like to know more about "defaults" if they exist. There should be none. I wonder if Bev Harris has any comments on "defaults". I thought I read a while ago (I wish I could find it) that machines were "defaulted" to Bush or Republicans.

Have you ever spoken with a retarded child? It's nearly identical to speaking with an American.
Contrary to popular mythology, retarded children often have very high self esteem. So do most black people. That's why teaching either of these groups can be incredibly hard, because they often believe (sincerely) there is nothing anybody can teach them because they know it all. The reality is, their minds are so utterly empty that even a scrap of normal abstract thought like self-criticism and the ability to appraise their own reasoning acuity completely eludes them.
In fact, for the past 100 years it is precisely the people who rate their own intelligence highly without specificity who consistently score at the very bottom of IQ tests, because they are quite simply people who are not even bright enough to know what they don't know. This phenomenon has been discussed in detail throughout the literature on IQ starting with William Shockley and countless others. It is the human being closest to the animal kingdom that believes itself to be the most advanced. An empty skull is quick to fill up with the self confidence only a complete fool can amass.
Without going into too much detail, I mean it when I say every single thing that comes out of the mouth of Americans only reinforces what unbelievably moronic critters these beasts are. Reading these posts is proof that Americans are the slowest race of halfwits alive today on the entire planet.
I doubt you are smart enough to follow the very complex causal trail I could elaborate on that leads to your demise, so I'll just skip all the thinking parts and go straight to the predicting parts. Kind of like Oprah Winfrey except with brains.
Accept this as a truism. At some point in the near future, you are all going to die screaming like complete jackasses and the United States is going to collapse in a single day, most likely from a surprise Sino-Soviet first strike. There's nothing you can do about it. You aren't smart enough to do anything about anything. What you know about your own history and human existence could be written on the back of a postage stamp. You are an uncarved block, devoid of any troublesome thoughts, a completely vacuous and empty vessel which is as hollow as a ceramic jug.
Don't waste your time with a reply, people will only laugh harder at what functionally illiterate feebleminded dweebs you are. Just turn on Oprah and keep watching her until you get whacked. You have no future and therefore no reason to worry, you're utterly doomed as a nation.
The last days of Rome, the Roman people had ten times your brains and character and did more to stave off the end than you will ever be capable of summoning up. They knew they were going under but many of them fought the creeping idiocy all around them and went out fighting. No such heroic legacy will ever be written for you cud-chewing consumer units.
Put some more ADL-approved comments up here about why I'm such an evil man because of my "hate speech." Truth is hatred to those who hate the truth.
God hates America because God is good, but America is wicked.
