Maybe the WH is planning its last-ditch strategy:
Let Cheney resign, taking the blame for everything, and Bush pardons everybody else who is indicted, even Libby. Then Rush and Ann and Sean will go into verbose overdrive about how we need to put this behind us and move on, about how it was a mountain made out of a molehill, about how the liberals destroyed "a good man and great VP."

A possible and different outcome:
The legal system works and those that deserve to, go to jail. Karl Rove and Scooter Libby mug shots are plastered on every blog in the "internets". The Busitas are neutered. The "dark times" become a footnote in the history of this great, if flawed, experiment called democracy.
Hey, can a girl have her dreams? (buzz kill)

Terri, hope you're right! If Bush follows the course I speculated on, civil war becomes several steps closer.

Damn I wish this was not so complicated with dates and who knew what when, the typical American news consumer is going to get lost/lose interest after the second bit of info is explained. Need a graphic of some sort. Good news is the legal minds will sweat the details for us....I hope!!!

Will Russert really be the fall guy? For what payoff? Will Fitz buy it?

Are they evil or just inept? Do we all remember we are talking about the leaders of our great nation?!!!
It's sick that we are becoming numb to the constant deception, liberty erosion, egomaniacal grandstanding, and inability to relate to us...
Who broke which laws first... ? It's never ending. And yet, there's a very good chance the top guys will continue on relatively unscathed, and victims of this administration (and I don't mean that figuratively) will suffer and even die at their hands.
Sounds pessimistic? Until very recently, people alluding to civil war in America were thought to be completely out of their minds. Now, the reference to that such thing is made above. And, there's not much reaction.

Brad asks: "So, why would Rove's lawyer leak information that contradicts testimony given by Judith Miller and Tim Russert?"
This behavior is consistent with a long track record of creating inherent uncertainty. This is how the reality-based and faith-based communities have been driven apart, by an illegitimate government that consolidates power and control through intentional divisiveness. Check out Blueprint For Peaceful Revolution.

John Dean was hit by the watergate thingy. He was the president's lawyer.
Now, many years later, he is wiser.
He has written an able article, (link here).
He says "My guess is that, in different ways, all four [Bush, Cheney, Rove, Libby] likely were involved in the exposure of Plame's covert identity."
Remember, he was there inside during watergate and he, knowing how it works from the inside, says Bush knew. Like Nixon knew.
