Where's the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" sign? If our mission in Iraq really had been accomplished when Karl Rove's sign went up that day, more than 1500 of "AMERICA'S YOUTH" would still be alive today. Instead, they came home in body bags.
Ironies like that are completely lost on this ignoramus, Bush.

What mission? WHAT mission? The sarin gas? It does not exist, never did. Bush and friends are simply playing soldier, using real people instead of dolls.
The banner should have said "WHAT MISSION?" That would have been great.

I agree with Chem-electric - What mission? It amazes me that more people do not see the truth behind the lies. They actually believe that the whole thing is over national security and bring desired Democracy to the people. Blindness and blandness in the majority of the people allows them to ignore the facts and lie to themselves about the agenda of our govt. The worst lies you can ever tell are the lies you tell yourself. And they lie to themselves in the name of comfort.
Has anyone seen Arlington Road - great movie - with some very solid points about people.

I never saw Arlington Road, but I too am amazed how few people can see that there is no mission in Iraq. I can see that and I was a supporter originally.
Actually I am still a supporter in the way that matters, which is that I figured Bush was going to invade Iraq no matter what, so let's get it over with sooner rather than later. But what has changed is I used to think there was actually something to do in Iraq, namely to stop the narcissistic personal disorder case that was running Iraq; surprise, surprise, Saddam wasn't a sick as I'd thought, but it turned out that George W. Bush was also NPD. I hadn't counted on that.

I think most reasonable people would be strongly against the Bush agenda if they were informed. The problem is that unless you go out and look for the information, you don't see it. You don't see it on the MSM cable channels. It seems almost like the MSMs ideal story is one that affects the fewest people for the most response. The MSM would collectively orgasm if Michael Jackson got cancer in the tip of the toe nail of his left pinky toe because they could focus on 0.001% of the body of a major celebrity. They'd have 24-7 wall-to-wall coverage, meaningless updates, etc. Think about how many MSM stories are all about 1 or a few people: Pope, Schiavo, Scott Peterson, Martha Stewart, Michael Jackson, the list goes on and on. While we here know that important stuff is happening every day.
Replace the MSM: keep your friends and family informed of what is really happening in this country and elsewhere.
The MSM doesn't give the resources it takes to do good investigative reporting. For the MSM it is about profit, not public service. What's ironic is that people like Brad are doing a much better job with a lot fewer resources.

"KNEEJERK COMMENT OF THE MOMENT"
I don't see the knee, but I see the jerk.
There IS a mission. Question:
Who propped up GWB for Texas Governor?
Who set him up as Presidential candidate?
Who's really running the country?
Who stands to gain by Iraq being controlled by America, thereby controlling the black stuff that gets put in barrels?
Four questions, one answer.

The mission is world hegemony through military force.
Geopolitical control of Middle East oil reserves is critical to the success of the mission.
And if you don't like it, you hate America.
(But come to think of it, thanks to the guy in the photo, the whole world hates America. hmm...)

MLBaker - the whole world really hates the Bush Administration/government - the American people have to do something about it. And Bushco will not be allowed to control the Middle East or Middle Eastern Oil. So all the death and destruction is for naught - except for the profits to companies contributing supplies for war, and profits for oil companies as the price of oil zooms upward. Big business is doing very well...maybe that's enough for Bushco. Maybe that was the entire plan afterall. A little war to distract from the poor economy, and boosting the economy at the same time. As for the thousands of dead and maimed victims of war...that's life (and death)...or collateral damage...or the cost of doing business...

Peggy,
Right, the only real winners in this war are the war profiteers and the oil companies. (But we won't jump to any conclusions just because the president comes from oil, the vice president's company is the world's biggest war profiteer, and the Secretary of State has an oil tanker named after her.)
I do believe that unlike Americans, most people around the world can distinguish between the U.S. government and the American people.
The part that's got me really bugged is that with the Republicans systematically removing the checks and balances that our founders so wisely built into our government, all this discourse and activism we engage in is becoming irrelevant. They'll just do whatever the hell they feel like doing and we'll be powerless to stop them.
This recent attack on the judicial nomination process is extremely ominous. If they manage to pull that off, we're in some deep shit.
I do think that when you're up against people whose only concern is money, a hit in the pocketbook is about the only thing they'll notice. Divestiture for Democracy is the right idea. Still, it's hard to avoid that sick, sinking feeling...

As I said, the cartels are international, and it seems that these people are becoming a liability. Watch the Caspian Sea, the pipeline to China, and water rights. It's a complex game. Also the oil fields of Kirkuk, where something interesting might come down by the fall of the year.

If the Republicans change the judicial nomination process so that they can install the judges they please with zero backing from Democrats, they will install extremist judges. (The extremists Bush has put up for nomination in the last 4 years are proof of that.)
Rock solid? I fear you're wrong about that. I think the integrity of the judicial branch is in serious danger. It won't happen overnight of course.
Republican control of the legislative branch has been steadily increasing the last few election cycles.
I don't know what you mean my saying the "executive is bailing", but the Republicans have managed to put Bush in the White House twice in a row now without having won once. Why do you think that's going to change?

I could be wrong. But the slam of Bush over the Schiavo circus was strong. I know this may be a calculation on their part to put through the judicial takeover, but I think it has backfired. I haven't seen public response like this against the government in a long time. And DeLay is finished. Lots of uncertainty is coming.
The integrity of the judicial is intact, as we just saw. They will resist, as so many have cowered up til now.
There is so much conflict among the higher ups in the Pentagon, the military, Rumsfeld, and others, that we don't know about. The CIA is outraged. Many professionals have reached their limit with the intervention in the way they are doing their jobs.
I believe that our only hope is for a relatively clean election in 06. Some are already saying that the Democrats will take back the House if this comes about. The rapidly growing unpopularity of the Republican agenda will make it harder to cheat.
If the Dems get the house back, there is a possibility of impeachment.
Of course, both parties are controlled by the same people, but the Democrats have to be Democrats.
It's possible that all of our elections have been predetermined for a long time. And some feel that the puppet masters are planning a Democratic win in 08.
Things are never what they appear to be.
Best thing is to express yourself as much as possible, and believe in your power. It all will come around. The timing is what we don't know exactly.

Clean election in '06 ?! Why should there be?
This mob has most likely never been a part of a clean election.
The Texas test election where gwb was up against a popular Ann Richards was a fiasco election in which the methods of theft were put to work.
gwb was the same ex-drunk, failure in business, and all the rest we know so well-plus he was a failed candidate in an earlier run- then he ran for governor against a popular democrat who 'oversaw a revival of the states economic fortunes', and he won? Give me a break!
Sending this nation into war based on lies, signing inmates off on a death paper readable in five minutes drawn up by fellow sadist Alberto. this is a guy who won't go quietly.

I haven't seen any comment on the irony of the banner behind the *Execration's* back - "America's Youth."
He loves and honors it SO MUCH he sends it to its death in his profiteering "war." He reveres it so much that he commands the redeployment of the wounded and disabled. He treasures "America's" youth so much that he exempts his own children from being so classified.

"Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud"

The 'Shithole' does not do his writing in stone--he does his writing in Blood.
Did you see the film from the Vatican? There was the Pope lying 'in state' and in the very first row, up front center are the bush's. The Antichrist (how ironic!), wife and father. Killers all.
The bush's could not resist the call to the Photo-op of the century---they should have clothed the Pope in Army fatigues, in memory of those who died for nothing and were buried in silence.

I try not to think so darkly about the situation - because it is depressing. So, supporting them gives me hope and I feel physically better.
