Cheryl -
I think, though I haven't looked yet, that it's maybe a little bit of all three - trying to catch whatever breeze is blowing in a "light and variable" lull. He doesn't know from what quarter the real blow will set in. (Sorry; the sailor in me.)

Got this from my Ma-in-law the other day, thought you guys 'n' galz might quite like it:
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years, and hey, we're not using it anymore.
Keep the faith siblings.

I agree, Winter. Looks like a load of horseshit to me. Damage control for the injured, even if it was self-inflicted.
But maybe he's just like Ann Coulter. No matter how much she shoots herself in the mouth, she just won't give up. When the right trips over itself, there's always Ann Coulter to rescue with quasi-logic. Comparing Randi Rhodes's alias to Jeff Gannon? Hey, talk show hosts have real reasons to keep themselves protected from lunatic listeners. That includes an alias. I don't know what a no-name reporter would have to fear.

Just emailed senator Wyden about signing the petition-turns out the webmaster for the senate is currently down. Hopeful sign that the senators are being deluged with emails.

Feel free to send Mr. "Gannon" a letter via that blog! His email address is: jeff.gannon@jeffgannon.com
But more importantly...there is still time to WRITE YOUR SENATOR and ask them to SIGN DURBIN'S LETTER ASKING FOR AN INVESTIGATION!

Hi, Peter - could you please provide me with Senator Biden's e-mail. I am disappointed in him. He made a lot of noise on CNN and MSNBC earlier this year against DUMYA's antics in Iraq and he also supported Kerry. But, then he refuses to vote with Barbara Boxer, he refused to vote against Ms. Yas'uh Rice, and now won't sign Sen. Durban's letter. He needs to be told that talk is cheap, and virtually worthless - and actions speak louder than words. He is beginning to make me think he is a secret neocon supporter, while posing as the opposition.

Patience, patience. The story is out. It isn't going away. If right-wing blogs are het up about it, and trying to make a petty sex scandal out of it, that's a good sign. It's having an effect. They're worried.
Biden loves to play the role of "above the fray" statesman, like a pseudo-Secretary of State or a retired diplomat. Let him. The investigation is going to happen regardless of Biden. Not to worry.

Here is an interesting conservative viewpoint. We now know that liberals are the problem.
“How to Destroy a Democracy (or ruin a republic)” from the Rush Limbaugh Web Site:
http://rushonline.com/vi...iberalschangeamerica.htm
Note: My comments in parenthesis
__________________
How Liberals Are Changing America [How to Destroy a Democracy (or ruin a republic)]
1) Destroy confidence in any old laws, judicial systems, constitutions, and citizen rights, by trivializing them and consistently ignoring them. It will also help if the leaders break oaths, dodge the draft.
(Many top members of our current administration are alleged to have dodged the draft in some way. There are reports of the rule of law currently being ignored).
2) Prove to the countries citizens that their leaders are not to be expected to obey laws like they are. That their leaders are above the law. This will instill in their minds the fact that government is all-powerful and that it can rightfully get away with anything. It will also discourage any resistance to the government's pollicies. (spelling?)
(If you are not for us, you are against us, and don't worry about the illegal detainees and the closed meetings on energy policy development).
3) Deny any personal wrong doings over and over despite proof to the contrary. Say anything, promise anything, and do anything. Remember that leaders can do no wrong and it is best to instill this in the minds of the people as soon as possible.
(This the premise of the current administration – No WMDs? Then tell the world that Saddam was evil and needed to be deposed anyway).
4) (For the next issue Rush airs abortion here – see Web Site).
5) Destroy the concept of voting. Implement a substitute that can be manipulated and is open to interpretation. Something like "polls" or "citizen roundtables" should work fine.
(Voting irregularities favoring one party over the other are already being investigated in Ohio, Florida, and others).
6) (Rush – I have no concrete idea what you are saying here – “improve poll results”?).
7) Pick some popular topics like cigarette smoking, gun control, safety restraints, and environmental conservation that sound good, play them up, and use them to slowly pass restrictive laws and tax codes. Each of these laws and codes should take away just a few small freedoms. People will eventually become accustom to loosing a little freedom "for their own good" and the federal government can then parley this into eventual total freedom elimination.
(Bush Administration is currently advancing programs limiting abortion, gay marriage pornography, etc).

Yes, I too want to congratulate the Canadian Government for turning down the "opportunity" to join in the useless missile defense shield.
Thank you Canada!
Saw Biden on the Bill Maher show saying how much we needed an investigation into the Gannon/Guckie deal, but as usual, when the time comes to put up or shut up, he shows his true colors, just like his disgusting coddling of Rice and Gonzalez during their confirmation hearings.
I also heard on NPR the broadcast of The Newshour w/ Jim Lehrer about Gannon/Guckie. Dredd, did you notice how fast Lehrer shut down the reporter when he began to mention the gay escort angle? I thought that was good because it keeps the focus on the real story: how did a non-credentialed "reporter" using a fake name get access to the pResident and to classified documents? Patience.............
As for me, I've gotten myself in a little tangle with some Rethuglican attack dogs on the AARP's message boards that I mentioned a couple of threads back. I called one of them out for their ignorance and visciousness while posting in defense of someone that he was attacking, anyway, this morning I find ten emails in my inbox letting me know that there are ten "responses" to my post. They can't handle the truth you know, so I'm gettin' ready to go back there and dance with those knuckleheads (as he licks his lips). This is gonna be fun :>)

I saw this good news at truthout. While I'm certainly not real pleased with the way John Kerry quickly conceded the election on Nov. 3rd, the above information shows that he is still pursuing legal avenues regarding what happened in Ohio. "Too little, too late"?........well.....yes, but good nonetheless.

Super, Peg C.,
Thank you for the congratulations. I don't think they had much choice since 75% of the country said no to missile defense and they have a minority government. I also like to think that all of us that contacted them and let them know how we felt, in no uncertain terms, had an effect on the decision.
That Celluci is so arrogant and mouthy. I've been calling for him to get the boot for years now. Thank god he's leaving. Hope the next one has more class.

supersoling #22 Yes, I noticed that. It was not as in-depth as it should become, but it was indeed a good beginning.
In response to the question you mentioned, the reporter could have come back, "Jim, the gay escort service is relevant, like any prostitution scenario, when it can lead to blackmailing of public officials. Remember that the governor of New Jersey resigned for that reason."
Anyway, first time I know of the story appearing on national scope TV ... so good for public TV.
Good luck on AARP ... if you need reinforcements let us know ...

I don't believe I have seen it reported on BradBlog or other left-wing forums about the Guckert/Gannon scandal getting some attention on a weekly news quiz show on National Public Radio --Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me. The part I loved was when the quiz show host, Peter Sagal, remarked about the "redundancy" of a real live prostitute being in the White House press room among so many prostitutes of the journalistic kind, or something to that effect. I recommend everyone listen to the archived audio of last week's program. It can be heard just a few minutes into the beginning of the program.

I e-mailed Guckert/Gannon with a question. "Jeff, who on the Left has asked you to expose the Bush administration? Please provide documentation for this assertion." No response so far.
It's silly, if you think about it. A liberal would ask a devout conservative to expose a president he supports wholeheartedly? Yet Jeff said he's been deluged with e-mails making this request. It really seems there's a bolt missing between his scalp and his neck...which begs the question, "How did a character like this survive security clearance?"

George H. Bush a concealed pedophile was instrumental in running a teen-ager prostitution ring in Omaha Nebraska, read "The Franklin Cover-up", John DeCamp, Nebraska State Senator. Colleague of DeCamp former (and now late) Director of Central Intelligence, William Colby. The book relates the story of a credit union that met a bad fate along with King pin, Lawrence King, in a series of events related to the teen-ager prostitution ring.
Johnny Gosch was kidnapped in 1982. Noreen mother of Gosch believed her disappeared son to have been sucked up into this sorid enterprise. She saw her son again 1997. He warned her not to inquire about him.
A fellow named Jeff Gannon surfaced in Feb. 2005. A major player in the DC Escort Service. Gannon was a reputed reporter for a little-known news service owned by one of George W. Bush's pals in Texas, a news operation now defunct.
Gannon apparently got into the WH & stayed w/or visited upstairs, w/the occupant & resident G.W.B. some contend the U.S. Secret Service, contray to what they are required, did not log in Gannon.
Gannon alias Gosch received, reportedly direct from G.W.B. in the WH and/or right nearby, the secret American CIA records used to blow the cover of CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Gannon alias Gisch
