Robertson: Bush Wrong Again

(Speaking of lowered 'expectations'!)

Share article:

Christian Coalition Founder, Pat Robertson on CNN’s Paul Zahn Now speaking about the meeting he had with Bush prior to the War on Iraq:

“And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, ‘Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.’ “

Robertson said the president then told him, “Oh, no, we’re not going to have any casualties.”

For the record, so far we’ve had almost to 29,000 U.S. military casualties in Iraq. So Bush was only off by 29,000. And we’ve had 1,102 U.S. military fatalities as well. No idea which number Bush might have been referring to. Though you’d expect a “Commander-in-Chief” to know the difference. As we’ve said though, and as the above quote shows, expectations are not this Administrations forte.

But, hey, at least Robertson gets to meet with the President about these things! That’s more than can be said for folks like Democratic Congressmen or the Black Caucus therein!

George W. Bush: President of Some People in the United States.

Isn’t it just sad when the low water mark for sanity in the neanderconparty admits that Mr. Bush is out to lunch?

But despite this, Pat Robertson still supports this president and will vote for him. Why? I believe that 95% of the people that are voting for Bush are voting for him because of the tax cuts. Because he has underachieved in every other issue and category during his term in office. The war in Iraq, education, the environment, economy, health care, in science and technology, foriegn policy, in truth-telling, and even in fact-checking, this president have falling short.

I think Pat and other hardcore Bush supporters better check their pride at the lection both. Do they vote for Bush and tell their god that the truth does not matter or do they vote for Kerry and prove to their God that Truth really does matter in his country. 😀

    Henry,

When a man support bloody thugs so he can have secure investments in diamond mines the way Pat Robertson has, i seriously question any relationship to God.

    johnhp,
But he didn’t understand how bad it was in the mines, until he show it on TV. REALLY? Trust me I am no fan of Pat, but thats a long story, yet I wonder how people like him can justify their actions ad still say the follow the teachings of Jesus, considering I’ve read the same book.

    Henry,

He knew, or at the very least should have known. i mean if i knew and i wasnt investing in the company he had to know and not care.

As for religion; we do it all the time. i am a Catholic and a socialistand it is my faith that calls me to and deepens my political commitments. At the same time there are catholics out there who are quite horribly in terms of politics (Scalia, for instance) and who claim, at the same time that their faith informs their politics. There are great Muslim leftists out there (from the late Ali Shari’ati to the editors of Asr Ma [Iranian newspaper closed by the moooollahs run by Mohammad Salamati] and the Islam and Social Justice group).

My view of the GW and his faith is that it is "authentic" but that he is no different than other religious terrorists. he simply justifies the deaths of the innocents in his crusade as collateral damage in the service of the cause of freedom IF he deigns to mention them.

    johnhp,
A wiseman once said that many will come to know me by name, but they still will not "Get It." 😀

I thought Kerry summed it up perfectly:

    "Faith, without works, is dead."

Bush and his ilk talk about God but do nothing to back it. And while John and I may not agree on everything (I am definitely not a socialist), I can say with no fear of contradiction that he walks a lot closer to God than Bush ever has.

    Henry,

i dont think its so much about getting it than walking the walk. Jesus said you can’t serve God and wealth (mammon) and that you have to choose. Jeremiah said a kingdom jusges itself not by the splendor of other nations but by acts of justice. For a man who takes the title of minister to be as concerned with the acquisition of wealth as Robertson is to me is scandalous. Apparently, that speaking in tongues is not so much a seraphic voice as it is Ferengi.

Did you see what i just did Henry? Only a discussion of Pat Robertson could lead me to make a reference to the angelic choir and Star Trek in one post. That’s got to be some kind of abomination. i will be doing time in purgatory for that one.

    Pro-life – partial-birth abortion

Pro-life – stem cell research but not for killing embryos.

Pro-Marriage – between opposite sex – the author of Love and Marriage is God/Jesus

    > I can say with no fear of contradiction that he walks a lot closer to God than Bush ever has.

You cannot say that! You do not know!

    > I am no fan of Pat

    Me neither!
