I turned on late and thought maybe he was pulling a joke. NPR had a direct shot of him with a green screen. But no laughter. They were using green again? It's obvious someone believes it must work for him.

Phil's Mixed up Critique of the McCain acceptance speech...
For the most part (see below), well delivered with a seriously compelling argument for veterans being qualified by past experience to take the reins of the executive. What I found most disturbing is again nothing mentioned about locking up the corruption in the banking, loan, mortgage, real-estate, wall street system, and putting the bill for the losses on them, not to the taxpayer. I deduce that since McCain is already a Senator and hasn't brought this massive fraud up in Congress, and today in his acceptance speech refuses to address this problem, he has no intention of changing this kind of fraud. This further made it clear, that if McCain is not talking about an issue, he's not going to address that issue, that would crack the dike for all wonderful goodies like, electronic election fraud, the unbalance between Constitutional Rights vs. this never ending war, Accountability for Oath of Office, feel free to insert your issues that piss you off the most from the last eight years.
To be fair though, McCain did address health care, sadly not in detail, and not anything that I would vote or trust him on. He mentioned fixing "Public Assistance" for the unemployed, saying that is based on the 1950's economy, yet no details on what that fix was--my impression was to eliminate public assistance--but I could be wrong, yet either way, he didn't specify so we don't know. There was some word bumbling (ala Bush style) but this was acceptable and we understood what he meant (unlike Bush at times.)
I didn't analyze for facts, or fact checking. I'm sure many others will bring things up.
So while I was compelled by the patriotic part of his speech, I think my over all problem with his speech is that I just outright don't agree with the specifics of "his vision" for our future. Where we do agree is "Yes we want a prosperous, healthy, growing, and peaceful America" , however you don't get there by continuing down the same corrupted, unaccountable, unconstitutional path.
The "Stand up and Fight" slogan worked well, and again was quite compelling to me personally. On the other hand, doing what he say's would land you in jail. And on a subliminal level, and on a practical level, the TOOLS we need to legally stand up and fight are removed from average Americans on a practical level. From the reality that Journalists are getting, targeted, and arrested, and the cops in riot gear outside attacking the public using gleamed intelligence, to just plain trying to communicate with our leaders who don't listen because they are really unaccountable to anyone. e.g. leaving office, or just don't care. When thinking about this in military terms, we really can't afford "financially" to Stand up and Fight. Our money is going to be worth NOTHING if this mentality continues. Instead of fighting, we should be rebuilding, instead of wasting a billion a week in the hell hole that is Iraq, we should be rebuilding infrastructure like oh let's see, levies so cities don't flood.
It wasn't a bad speech all in all, just what I can only describe as a weird kind of deception masked by patriotism, subliminally tying ideas that don't matter into listeners mind, so ideas that do matter are forgotten, or moved to parts of your mind where they're much harder to find..Archived, Rar'd up, tar.gz'd. In other words you couldn't mentally argue with what he actually said, and because you were focused on his direction, you gave away your own minds direction. And you would need to be adept to keep your focus about the reality of YOUR issues top most in your mind's "cache memory." _God that sounds like a crap description_ heh
I felt like this speech had elements of what I had stated yesterday about the Palin speech, which I tried to be fair about. It really was heavy on patriotism. I knew that was going to happen, since McCain is a veteran, on the other hand, there are subliminal things tied into that that make you forget the reality of what's really going on in the world and how bad things really are. Maybe the script writers read Bradblog? heh
I watched this speech broken up, completely missing the beginning, so I didn't really get a chance to analyze anything in depth. I won't get a chance to do it for some time, as I have medium size video project at the moment. Purring the speech, first, my cat drew blood on me, then I took a shower switching to the FM radio "simulcast." Both the video and the audio (PBS)had technical glitches several times. And after I got out of the shower the cat kept attacking me at random for no particular reason, very very strange behavior for this cat never does this to me, this would interrupt things and frankly I lost attention several times.
I ain't no Journalist, and I ain't saying everything I say here is perfect or correct, so your more than welcome to disagree. Just don't hate me... ;o)

One more thought to get off my mind before I snuggle in with my cat to sleep.
The whole thing felt like a battle for my mind.
In hindsight, the Obama acceptance speech's theme "Change We Can Believe In" leaves me wondering when someone is going to plant the seeds for some change, I don't see it happening, if we can't propagate and grow the tools to make change actually occur then nothing will change. We need tools to make change happen. Part of that is having an honest election. A tool that currently looks like it's broken. To make change one has to actually take action. Otherwise it's just a, "Belief in Change." Nothing wrong with having beliefs, but beliefs don't create change on their own. In other words, Enough word games, do something.

All in all, it was a sleepy speech. Forget about Palin, she's more of a diversion than anything else... we need to drive home the fact that McCain is who voters are choosing if they go Republican. The same McCain that is part and parcel to the Republican establishment. The same McCain that voted with Bush and who obstructed real change. The same McCain who chose to start this bungled war in Iraq. The same McCain who stumbles through his own recollection of the past day or two, let alone year or two. The same McCain that is, well, more of the same...

This link is a letter to the assistant AG in AK requesting an ethics investigation, and suggesting that state law was violated because the confidentiality of Wooten's workers' comp and personnel records was breached, blatantly. A transcript of a phone call in which this was admitted is included.
So, the picture of someone who does not respect laws and confidentiality may be emerging --- a great VP in the days of the Patriot Act.
It's enough to make you sick. This gets into a certain ruthless disrespect for the law. Don't get me wrong, Wooten is no angel, but you have to hold the line on using that as a justification for illegal activities on the governor or governor's staff's part.

Puts him in an interesting spot. The Bush crime family owes him, and the Lansky-Bronfman crime family owns him. Sorta like being between a rock and a hard place.

The green screen? See Rachel Maddow's comments on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, September 5th. Behind McCain was a huge screen with a photo of a large building with a lawn (the part of the photo the TV audience saw).
The building? Walter Reed. But, whooops, not the veterans medical center, but the middle school in North Hollywood, California...

He is certainly no Sarah Palin (in the bedroom); however, he may be her in spirit. She on the other hand should be charged with child(s) neglect. How can someone possibly say otherwise? -considering her schedule these days. Just because you front like a do gooder (running for public office) you should still be accounted for how much time you spend with your children(s). I agree with Comment #9. A big smoke screen. Great cover for the long ball hitter in the on deck circle. Jeb is the man in 08'
