BRAD BLOG readers know that we take no particular joy in even appearing to defend the corporate mainstream media. Nonetheless, the hateful rightwing loons that have taken over the majority of the discourse in this country have been so intolerably wrong on so many issues for so very long, it’s nice to see one of them admit — even tacitly — that “conservatives” (as they call themselves) have been wrong in their idiotic attacks on MSM reporting. Particularly in regard to the War in Iraq.
So now, the Bush Administration, and the last of its dead-enders, have even lost National Review’s Richard Lowry…

The “good news” that conservatives have accused the media of not reporting has generally been pretty weak. The Iraqi elections were indeed major accomplishments. But the opening of schools and hospitals is not particularly newsworthy, at least not compared with American casualties and with sectarian attacks meant to bring Iraq down around everyone’s heads in a full-scale civil war.

In their distrust of the mainstream media, their defensiveness over President Bush and the war, and their understandable urge to buck up the nation’s will, many conservatives lost touch with reality on Iraq. They thought that they were contributing to our success, but they were only helping to forestall a cold look at conditions there and the change in strategy and tactics that would be dictated by it.
There’s more, but you get the drift. A moment of intellectual honesty from Lowry. Though not nearly enough. Note his use of “they,” not “we” or “I.” And he can’t help but take several idiotic, unsupported shots in the piece, lest he completely lose his readership base all together.
So it’s not enough to earn himself a coveted, yet rarely bestowed, BRAD BLOG “Intellectually Honest Conservative Award.” Either way, we hope for his sake that the waters are warm these days for the rats as they dive off the sinking ship.
Yes, but they STILL have mostly rightwingnuts in the media, even if they ARE admitting they are wrong. How about having Harry Belefonte on, saying, “I told you so, and you called me ‘nuts'”???
Still, it’s THEM…but it’s just THEM admitting they were wrong. Like, it’s only THEIR comments are important, whether they are right or wrong…
How about having Scott Ritter’s comments? You still only hear ONE side in the corporate mainstream media.
You know, they used to have Ann Coulter on all the time, and she really IS nuts…but Harry Belefonte is portrayed as “off the wall” (at the time of his “Uncle Tom” comments about Colin Powell), and Harry is a really great guy whose comments have come true…but receives nothing in the media saying so…
Uh, somebody show me who and where you find “the most pessimistic media predictions” of the MSM.
Sy Hersh is about the only one I can think of in the US. Greg Palast (thru the Brit media) and maybe other FOREIGN MSM had something pessimistic to offer–but this conservative author Lowry is already shading the truth. It is fairer to say the MSM was gung-ho and preferred not to report the possible hang-ups–ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY STARTED HAPPENING IN REAL TIME!!!
The “media” was right about all this? When? When did they cover any of this in an honest and factual manner? They may have casually mentioned it in the context of “Is Iraq in a civil war? Bush says no way.”
Or they may have discussed this with a media person labelled a liberal and a military general from the pentagon and had a “fair and balanced” discussion with no questions or follow up.
But actually reported these things straight? Not that I remember. The only thing you could credit the media for was for allowing SOMEONE a little air time at all to say these things…even if they were the minority of TV time and often shouted down by an opposing Republican calling him a terrorist lover.
Second that, Rosencrantz! This report is utterly idiotic! The CMSWM never said anything of the sort. This is worse than killing the messenger that delivered the mail to you, it’s killing the messenger who delivered the mail you sent out!
The MSM was in bed with (“embedded”) the invading army all along. They identified as the revealers of the new knowledge being spread benevolently into the mideast.
They cowtowed to that neoCon madness, and are primarily responsible for its infection and its spread thru the nation.
When the nation threw off the infection, and began to see clearly with us, who had not fallen prey to the infection here on this blog, the MSM resisted.
They resisted mightily but are now realizing that when they were in bed with big brother the republican neoCon, they did not have their condoms on.
It will take a big dose of blog herbs to heal the infection of the MSM. They may have suffered a fatal dose of extreme bu$hit.

2. While the 9/11 wargames orchestrated by the Bush admininstration and their Bushit 9/11 commission story distances itself with each passing day, the real truths about 9/11 are left to disappear like a melting ARTIC GLACIER.
3. Without going on about World Trade Building #7 or the Shrub missile that hit the Pentagon, why not examine some alternate motives and reasons why they would conduct these war games against the American people.
A. Terrorize the American with fear of unknown attacks and anger them to attack those accused (but not responsible).
A1. Pass laws giving government more power while taking away rights of Americans and gaining ILLEGAL access into all aspects of their personal and financial affairs under this umbrella. Most likely will not catch a terrorist but will disclose your private information to the Bushit administration.
A2. Beefing up the lie to attack Iraq for the oil. 4th largest oil reserve. How can the #1 military be #1 if it doesn’t have the special sauce for the Whopper? The flaw was thinking you could take these people and their oil over once invading with the #1 military in the world BUT THEY WOULD RATHER STRAP BOMBS TO THEMSELVES THAT ACCEPT YOUR TAKEOVER.
A3. Take your focus off the ball. Bush changed the laws of US Forestry the month after stealing his 2nd election so the US people no longer have a say in these matters. The US Congress under Bush reversed over 200 environmental laws and a plan to sell off the Western wild lands. The Arctic lost a piece of ice the size of TEXAS (8%)last year but still no cause for concern. Definetely not a bump in the road for these greedy oil barons plan of planetary destruction.
A4. Lastly, the war of lies has rallied real terrorists and made the US UNSAFER. Makes sense, kill an Iraqi’s family and they might seek revenge in an unjust war. As long as you play the terrorist card, you can alway get mindless sheep to listen who chose not to examine. Bush LOSER leadership = DEATH TO OUR PLANET. We have 2 years to stop Global Warming Climate Change!

Lowry dips his toe into the truth, but the biggest right wing lie is right there in the title. The media has never been even close to truthful or “liberal”. He still brings up the Dan Rather incident without noting that the “fake documents” had nothing to do with the real crux of the story, which was the help Bush got to avoid being dishonorably discharged from the national guard.
I wouldn’t ask Lowry’s opinion about a chicken dinner, let alone a war.
The war on Iraq is creating monsters in uniform, who are supposed to be bringing democracy and peace to the mideast.
