Maybe I'm just in a mood, but Vidal being droll about the psychopaths in charge seems almost as awful as supporting the psychopaths.

I guess you need many approaches to get thru to people who just don't want to entertain the thought that the current president is an idiot, and (some) Americans decided to him "the keys to the castle", and access to the "nukuler" war button sitting on his desk. When you can't laugh, and you can't cry ... what in the hell are people to do?
Anyway, I hear the chicken warrior needs to raise $500 million for his presidential "library" - another joke - for what - to house his collection of comic books?? How about a shelf of serious literary works labeled "Books I never read - GWB" - maybe decorated with a legacy of the racing bicycles that he used during his 8 year rampage, ahhh reign - whatever. How about a collection of wax "dummies" depicting his administration at a backyard Bar-B-Q? Isn't that why he was elected - "the person/president I would prefer to hang out with at a backyard Bar-B-Q"? After all, the media believed any idiot can be president - why hire a smart guy like Al Gore to be president? Anyone laughing? No, guess we are all really crying.

Well done! Keep posting Vidal! This didn't show up on my YouTube reverse-chronology "Gore Vidal" search, which is annoying.

Hi, again - for further reading on the "library" - see www.huffingtonpost.com - enlightening article in today by Robert J. Elisberg.

I can't imagine his preznitial library won't include "My Pet Goat". It was, after all, THE book he had in his hands (albeit upside down) during THE moment which made his presidency first memorable - 9/11. How could they possibly leave it out? Heh.

"Any fool can see that he is looney"
Can anyone of you remember a leading American author, from a patrician political family, speak with such contempt of a sitting US President before? And no one bats an eyelid. Bush is not a lame duck, he is a sitting duck. He is a walking disaster and his ultimate collapse will be a public embarrassment that can be avoided only by a speedy impeachment.
America will be paying for Bush's incompetence and criminality for decades to come.
So will Iraq.
So will Jose Padilla --- a US citizen treated worse by the US Government than any single victim of the Nazis.
Gore understated the barbaric torture culture Bush has fostered.
