The fallout from the ‘train wreck’ in Maryland this week will not go away for awhile I’m afraid. There will surely be more calls for firings, and there should be. Heads should definitely roll but will the real people who are responsible be the ones to lose their jobs or will some underling suffer for the mistakes of their bosses? Will the state learn anything or will they just have an investigation and blame the problems all on poll workers and the voters? They hired the Election Center to do an investigation so there is no way Diebold will share any fault in this. Even the Washington Post has taken to disinformation and obfuscation in their reporting this weekend….

EVEN the Washington Post is putting out disinformation? This has been going on since 2000. Google the subscription free fall for them and the NYTimes. I’ve read the Times may go under.
A partyline split in the Cuyahoga county OH BOE kept the incompetents from being fired. Could it happen in MD?
Of course it can happen in Maryland and will continue to happen all over the place. I’m sorry to say nobody cares a hoot-and-a-hollar about crappy machines and dishonest corporations and secure/private/transparently counted balloting. Noboby except for a limited few—was it six or seven?–here at the B-Blog.
It is disheartening. Politicians of either party who care about clean and fair elections should be ALL OVER this topic and making the Press pay attention. Even poor old Lou Dobbs can’t make a dent. It is ranked there with “Loose Change” and the Grassy Knoll.
My wife wanted to see a list of the Diebold and ES&S turncoats who decided to spill their guts and blow the whistle on the fixers. Is there a short-list anywhere?
Re: comment 3. There is a shortlist, obviously, because the successful prosecution of the lawsuit against the manufacturers of the electronic voting machines will probably be dependent in no small part on the testimony of those whistleblowers. Their names, therefore, must remain anonymous until after their testimony. In most lawsuits of this nature whistleblowers need to have assurances of anonymity before they will agree to testify…repercussions against them and/or their families are not uncommon. Remember Norma Rae?
