What's hard to fathom is why Fox would release these numbers. They're probably reliable, but that's just the point...why would Fox release numbers that contradict their own spin?
Logic suggests that if Bush is at 33% in the Fox poll, his real approval rating is somewhere around 28%. But even 33% is so bad that Fox can't spin it. Very, very strange. Is it possible they're about to come out for impeachment?

I think all the sheeple that were left are finally kind of waking from their fogs.. seeing all those generals calling for Rummy, then Shrubby saying "you're doing a heckuvajob!" made them go "oh shit, this fucker really IS nuts!".
And this on the heals of 36% being the bottom, and good news. This must be "better news" now that he's "lower than low".. *boggle*

COnsidering these ignorant, cheerleading, Bush apologists call anyone who ever disagrees with Bush a "democrat" or "liberal", it's not surprising they feel this poll is inaccurate. According to their logic %67 of the people polled were democrats.

Sean Hannity spun with, "The first thing we find out that nearly two to one they polled Democrats."
At the end of the full poll it says Dem 40%, Repub 32%, Independant and other 28%
For two to one it would be 40% - 20%.
The true value of 40% - 32% is five to four. Go back to school Sean and find the lowest common denominator! (Oh maybe you already did - yourself)
From what I've seen from other polls etc. the 40%-32% value is pretty close to how the general public is identifting themselves recently. People are turning away from the repubs. It would seem that this survey is probably accurate to the feelings of the general public overall.
Filtering the survey to have equal amounts of each group would be meaningless with regards to the true climate of how people feel.
Let's give Hannity and Rush the benefit of the doubt and even things up:
Repubs - 36% of 900 people = 324×66%=213.84
Dems - 36% of 900 people = 324×11%=35.64
Ind. & other 28% of 900 people = 252×28%=70.56
213.84+35.64+70.56 = 320.04 people approve.
320/900 = .3555 or a little less than 36% approve.
Something to cheer about Rush and Sean!

There's a simple explanation as to why Democrats are more represented in the polls than Republicans, and it's not the "liberal bias" of the media. There are just fewer and fewer people who are willing to admit they are Republicans, and frankly, I don't blame them.

Polls are showing that the people favor democrats taking over majority party status in congress in November. It is by average about 47% to 33% and growing (link here).
However, the way congressional districts are drawn (link to your district map here) raises the very serious spectre that gerrymandering may thwart the will of the people.
The way districts are drawn can change everything (link here).
The reason that is wrong is because it is anti-voter and even when the voters overwhelmingly favor a particular outcome, this can be thwarted and republicans could hold the majority.
In other words, the design of the districts is such that it thwarts and is contrary to the will of the people at large. It is designed to preserve incumbency and thwart the political notion of accountability.
The effect is that the people cannot replace members of congress unless and until the kool aid drinking devotees of that congress member revolt. Districts are carved out in strange shapes that result in districts passing thru many counties instead of being defined and bounded by one or more counties.
The map link above shows how true this is. Look at the 25th and 28th districts of Texas, Tom DeLay constructs, to see what I mean.
We have a dictatorial situation anytime the will of the people is thwarted by its government. There is no other name for it.
Some dictatorships are less vile than others, but calling a spade a spade is what I am talking about.
We have a dictatorship if the people cannot express their will by their vote. If the government allows us to vote but that vote is meaningless, the fact is that it is a dictatorship because the people cannot change the government.
The Texas gerrymandering case has been put on the fast track by the US Supreme Court (link here).
This is unusual under normal circumstances, but is all the more unusual since the cases have been stalled and have therefore been on the slow track in the US Supreme Court until now.
The case it now seems that will be reversed is Henderson v Perry (link here).
The issue of gerrymandering is equal to the problem with voting machines. Because even if we perfect the voting machines, the gerrymandering issue is just as much a threat.
Both evils ... gerrymandering and fraudulent and junky electronic voting machines ... are destroying American democracy.
And if the judicial goes down the tubes too (link here), and does not stop gerrymandering, I am sorry to say that democracy will be gone from American soil for a long time.

Well, on his radio show, Hannity also went after a liberal caller and asserted that by quoting Fox's figure, he was admitting credibility of Fox. He talked over the caller so the caller couldn't retort to say that we quote Fox because it's one media source conservatives can't ignore or write off as "librul."

The link I provided allows anyone to go to their state and look at any district. I will check out California too. Thanks.
I think you know I am trying to show the madness of the logistics. Congressional districts are "geographical concepts" that have no leadership or accountability that tracks back to officials.
A county does have officials, a state does, but a congressional district does not. The congress members that relate to a state's territorial area called a "congressional district" have absolutely no state authority, they have only federal authority.
But as I say it is not like a state or county with borders that link back to officials who control voting machines or voting laws.
No, these strange gerrymandered puzzle-piece looking contraptions can wind their way thru multiple counties, so that, several voting machine types can theoretically be used in one congressional district.
I mentioned it here to show that percentages can be deceptive at times, when we try to relate said percentages to actual election results.
And as Big Dan # 19 mentioned, exit polls are our traditional best friend for detecting official result errors/fraud.

Bush's speech with Hu: "We are 2 lands separated by a vast ocean...I enjoy meeting with Hu." Bush talks like a f***ing second-grader. It is embarrassing. It should be embarrassing to people like Ricky, but that is their mental-level. That's why they like Bush.

Here's why Andrew Card was fired. Bush asked him, "Am I meeting with Hu?" Card replied, "That's whom, Mr. President, not who?" Bush then asked him, "Well, whom is the president of China?" Card replied, "Hu is." Bush said, "That's what I asked you, dumbass!" Card replied, "Who's the dumbass around here?" Bush said, "You can't refer to the president of China like that. You're fired."
P.S. The name Henry Nee never came up in conversation between the two presidents. Guess that ocean is just too wide.

If the sample used accurately represents the voting public, the fact that more Democrats were polled is irrelevant. There are simply more Democrats than Republicans out there, available to be polled.
Hannity's statement is hopelessly foolish. Imagine if he were trying to prove a right-wing bias in the poll and said, "The first thing we notice is that they polled mostly white people." Silly?
But this flawed logic extends to the argument used to discredit exit polls in 2004. The claim, "They polled more Kerry voters" convinced a lot of people (including many reporters) that 1) the polls were conducted in a biased way, and 2) inaccurate because of an unbalanced sample. In fact, if more Kerry voters were polled it simply would simply have meant Kerry had more support than Bush, just as the 40-32 margin in the current Fox poll favors Democrats because there are more of them.
This is more proof that Fox Network speaks to an audience of "less intelligent" folks. Or to illustrate the point using Hannity's words, "The first thing to observe is that we reach mostly dumb people. And our advertisers are sure happy about that."

#34 - I vote "Yes" on all counts. Historians are notably conservative in making pronouncements presidential performance, but Bush is terrible in so many categories and so incredibly ignorant about the real state of affairs (and apparently uninterested) - I don't doubt that most historians are saying to themselves. "Wow, we've been rating presidents for years, but he really is the worst."

Christine Craft on one of our local progressive stations has been talking it up for several weeks now. A very large demonstration has been planned for his visit. Rumor has it that the California Highway Patrol (They are also in charge of protecting politicians etc.) plans on blocking the off ramps from the freeways to keep people away - there are very few back roads to where he will be. It may just be a rumor though - they may only be blocking them when the motorcade comes through.
We will see tommorrow.

Immigration problems have gone from not even being noticed to being viewed as one of the top 3 problems with the country in the latest polls. This has happened in just the last 3 weeks!

Obscene oil company profits. Obscene oil company executive pay, retirement benefits and stock options. Obscene attempted grab at the second largest oil reserves in the world (which they won't succeed in doing because of the patriotic resistors against the puppet government and its puppet, selected PM – some democracy, eh?). I thought that this administration was totally incompetent and stupid. I was wrong. They fooled more than half of the American people. But Martin Sheen got it right in Ireland the other day:

“..In the time of the French Revolution, Lee Raymond and his $400 million pension would be running one step ahead of the guillotine. But today, some in America admire Raymond and support his unbelievable compensation.
”But to those of us who really understand what's going on here, Raymond and his ilk are hurting the country and the government is their enabler. Talk about gas pains. There isn't enough Alka-Seltzer in the world.”

It is true that Bush's leadership is buoyed by scyophants in the media, such as Fox, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Times, NY Times and the Washington Post and others, who have bought into the nuanced nationalistic fervor illicited by 'fear and doomsday' politics. Yet, the problem, at least as I humbly see this slippery slope, is this way: if and when the Democrats rise to power from the ashes of the renowed Republican mess and incompetence--Will they walk up to this Pandora's box and shut it and its deadly consequences or will they keep it open and drink at the trough?
As we begin to embrace and pre-celebrate a possible victory for a return to Democratic leadership in 06 and possibly a dem in the Whitehouse in 08, the question begs an answer: Will we attempt to merely surplant one evil agenda for another evil agenda? The level of divisiveness wrought by Bush forever ushers in a watershed of headaches and scary scenarios that can not only occur again, but stretch even further to erode the democractic ideals built into our Republic.
So, as we prepare to cheer for 'our' guys to replace 'their' guys, we must at the same time avoid moving so far in the opposition direction that we create anew a Bush leadership model in a Democratic form.
Lastly, one hopeful sign that will give us insight if change is possible, will come if the Democrats challenge the status quo and quickly work to fix the out-of-control stranglehold that lobby firms have succeed in manipulating our Congress and Executive and even Judicial branches. Without, reform beginning here, we are most unlikely to realize actual change beyond party affliation. Certainly, as we give our vote and our pledges of support to non-Republican candidates we must quite frankly not do so lightly and not do so without some real assurances that we have merely moved the pea-in-the-pod from 'those' we depise to those we 'adore.'

No % for Cheney, eh?
Hahahaha, I would PAY CASH to poll Americans thusly:
With the disclosure that Cheney was running a " Hijacking Simulation" war games on 9/11/01 from the basement of the W.H., indeed attacking the Pentagon and the WTC Towers in this "simulation", how likely is it that you now believe Bush, Rice, Rummy et al had NO IDEA anything was going to happen on 9/11/01?
1. They had no idea.
2. They might have "heard something".
3. They knew something was going to happen.
4. They PLANNED IT ALL. They attacked America.
Wanna guess which one has the HIGHEST PERCENTAGE???? Wanna wager???
