We are a Representative Republic – if the people are tired of the profanity on free TV and free radio, they can turn it off or have their Senators/congressmen do something about it like levy high fines.

In anycase, Paul, "hypocrisy" may be seen as fines levied against one person (like Howard Stern, for example, who is not pro-Bush) for uttering words (not profane ones, mind you) that are exactly the same ones uttered by Oprah (who was not fined). You see, she represents a valuable constituency for Dubya; the Soccer Moms. And so, she goes unchecked when she says the same things as Stern.

As well, if you had any understanding of the Entertainment Industry, you would understand how this non-partisan pandering by both parties has sent a chill through the very folks who make use of America’s previous right to free speech every day.
