It's a shame that only Breaux had the sack to vote against this crap.
"Party of Individual Responsibility" my ass. Goldwater is turning over in his grave. And the Democrats are those supposed defenders of the 1st Amendment...
Jesus wept.

We are a Representative Republic - if the people are tired of the profanity on free TV and free radio, they can turn it off or have their Senators/congressmen do something about it like levy high fines.
There is always cable or satellite TV. Free speech is not being abridged!!!!
You have the right to say anything you want while others have the right not to listen to it. You won't be killed for it, unless of course, you kill someone while using "hate speech." That hate speech junk is loved by liberals, isn't it? Hypocrisy?

What do you do when you don't like your congress people (i.e. Fienstein and Boxer) and you know they won't listen to you?

Make as much noise as you can to get them to do the right thing. Then vote 'em out if they don't! God Bless America!

Apparently you are unaware of the definition of hypocrisy.
In anycase, Paul, "hypocrisy" may be seen as fines levied against one person (like Howard Stern, for example, who is not pro-Bush) for uttering words (not profane ones, mind you) that are exactly the same ones uttered by Oprah (who was not fined). You see, she represents a valuable constituency for Dubya; the Soccer Moms. And so, she goes unchecked when she says the same things as Stern.
*That*, my friend, is hypocrisy. If you were actually familiar with the issues at hand, you'd understand it.
As well, if you had any understanding of the Entertainment Industry, you would understand how this non-partisan pandering by both parties has sent a chill through the very folks who make use of America's previous right to free speech every day.

Why are you for big government Paul? I guess as long as the Gvt. Doesn't touch your money you're OK with Big Gvt. Let them watch you have sex or see what you check out in the library or tell you that you straight marriage and divorce and orphaned children is better than gays getting married (Jesus hates them anyway, right Paul?)
If you're gonna cloak yourself in "conservatism" be a fucking conservative. LESS government not more. Because I am fully capable of getting 500,000 phone calls into the FCC complaining about Rush Limbaugh. I don't because the childless junkie serial marrying draft-dodging fat-ass hypocrite has a right to tell the black folks to "Take the Bone out of their nose" on the radio.
