appalling. disgusting. shocking. a disgrace to the military.
i hope that all of energy put toward the Righteous Outrage over the petty controversy of Janet Jackson's breast will be more appropriately directed into Outrage over this terrible incident.
my fellow Americans, do we not have enough Outrage to go around?
if it had been a group of 19-year-old American girls being victimized in this way, it would be considered criminal sexual assult....
and i would venture to guess that there would be a call to bomb the area in retaliation.
so why did those soldiers consider this to be acceptable behavior? because the victims were Iraqi POWs, and therefore less than human?
i am saddened and surprised that they thought such action was not only appropriate, but *funny*!
and they took PHOTOS. if your country's soldiers must be cruel, at least you can take comfort in the fact that they were also collosally stupid, otherwise this story might have been dismissed as a politically-driven war-bashing rumor.
to their credit, it appears that the military is stepping out in front of this shameful incident and launching an investigation.
it's vitally important that we continue to police ourselves and our actions --- at home and abroad --- because the eyes of the world are upon us, looking to us to lead not only by preaching but by example. we must BE the great country that we claim to be...
... not only for the sake of our own soldiers who are POW's now and in the future, but also to show the world that we whole-heartedly repudiate these actions by what one can only hope are a few rogue soldiers.
anything less is beneath us as a people. anything less sends a terible message to the people whose lives we are trying to make better, both abroad and within our own borders.

It is very tragic. People are wicked and evil. They are in need of salvation.

hey don't you all think you are taking this too serious. According to one of the leading conservative radio talk show host, when you are being shot at you can get a little tense and need to blow off little steam. Kind of ironic isn't that the one most underfire weren't even around or involved. Boys will be boys.
