That is one beautifully comprehensive response by Senator Whitehouse.
Is it possible that Senator Inhofe is really so ignorant that he just doesn't even understand the basics here? I think maybe it is. And he's very proud of it.
I forgot who said something like--nothing scarier than ignorance in action.

Brilliant response by Sen. Whitehouse. Lightly mocking, but focused on reality and facts.
As for Inhofe - I bet the folks back home are real proud... and I do mean, of course, that I hope the good people of Oklahoma are properly embarrassed by the simple-minded sham showmanship of their Senator.
One wonders if what passes for the GOP brain trust is just putting us all on - seeing what they can get away with saying or doing to appear seriously intellectually disabled, and still garner support. "Watch this..."
Repeat after me, senator: "Climate is not weather. The weather outside, right now, right where you are, is not climate. Climate refers to regional and global patterns of weather over time. Weather refers to what's happening outside, right here, right now. Which may be entirely different tomorrow."
There. Wasn't that easy senator. You just go on learning what words mean, and pretty soon you'll be able to put together whole sentences that make sense!

If Republicans are good at one thing, - and ONLY one thing - it's sticking by their guns that are completely out of ammo.
Unfortunately, that's not governing.

To Greg and David, who commented previously with 2 versions of "can they be this dumb? or are they putting us on?"
They know exactly what they're doing. They are just sociopaths, as far as I can tell.
I'm reminded of an adage an old professor of mine said: "They're not AGAINST YOU so much as FOR THEMSELVES regardless of societal cost."

The Repubs are certainly ignorant and sociopathic, but what drives tools like Inhofe is greed, plain and simple. They are prostituting themselves for their corporate pimps and no amount of science and reason will ever give them a second's pause. That adage of your professor, Kyle, pretty much says it all.

Can't you just see the page that Inhofe arranged to catch the snowball thinking:
Whatever.

To chime in with Kyle D: From Matt Taibbi, describing the rationale of the people causing the "Great Recession": IBGYBG-- "I'll be gone, you'll be gone". People like Senator Inhofe really don't care about future generations. They truly are sociopaths.

It has always been my greatest fear that should the GOP control the House and Senate that they would assign foxes to guard the henhouse and that is precisely what has happened in this and several other cases.this man like Senator Tom Cotton is so blinded by his extremist ideology that it completely distorts his outlook and makes him impervious to facts.
