Song protest is great, but I remember when good young people were shot down in cold blood at Kent State.
Far, far worse is probable:
If you were born after 1960, you will probably die of violence, starvation or contagious disease. Although it’s news to you, your generation is challenged with a technically-insoluble problem — a political problem — which will probably kill five out of six worldwide — or perhaps all. In order do avoid the worst, you must move from a capitalistic form of government, which requires endless resource depletion, to a democratic form, which does not.

Go figure, a .1%er type exploiting a situation for financial gain.

WingnutSteve - I appreciate that you are inclined to support the unlevel playing field that screws 99% of the nation, including, presumably, yourself, but what makes you think Cyrus is "exploiting [the] situatation for financial gain"?
I haven't looked into the financials behind that particular song, but I know that Third Eye Blind was giving theirs away for free.
In any case, you don't think someone should be able to make a profit AND do something good for the world at the same time? What's up with that?

A. These people are protesting in the wrong place. As long as they give the politicians a pass and push the class warfare Obama needs to get reelected, and as long as you support them, then YOU are supporting the 1%. Because the change has to come from the politicians not Wall Street as you are well aware.
B. She can make all the profit she wants off the protests, don't bother me none. Just thought it was a bit funny, you writing a short piece promoting one of the very very very top of the 1% who's exploiting the situation. One person buys her CD or downloads it because of this video and she's profited from it. Fine with me...

Um, perhaps you haven't noticed? OWS has been giving nobody "a pass", and has been protesting (in two different Occuapations!) in D.C. since just days after OWS showed up on Wall Street.
Perhaps you missed the protests (Mic Checks) against Obama himself? As well as other politicians (both Democratic and Republican)? Did you miss those? Were you unaware they were protesting in all of those places as well?
As to who needs to be "pushed" (and on the presumption you did know that they were protesting Obama and others in D.C. and elsewhere), here's the thing: The politicians in D.C. have been "pushed" for years to do the right thing. They have failed (on both sides of the aisle --- one side because they support the 1% and the other side, largely, but not entirely, because they're, justifiably, terrified of the 1% who own the town and every election, thanks in no small part to Citizens United, but even well before that.)
Perhaps --- in addition to pushing the politicians, as they have been doing, but perhaps you hadn't noticed, given the "news" sources you tend to follow --- since pushing the politicians hasn't worked, pushing the corporations that sponsor them just might. And, of course, there are signs that that strategy has long ago begun to work. If you are unaware of those signs, again, it's because you aren't bothering to look for them, or are otherwise following "news" sources doing their best to hide them from you.
B. She can make all the profit she wants off the protests, don't bother me none.
And your evidence that's she made any such "profit...of the protests" is what exactly?
Just thought it was a bit funny, you writing a short piece promoting one of the very very very top of the 1% who's exploiting the situation. One person buys her CD or downloads it because of this video and she's profited from it. Fine with me...
How is she "exploiting the situation"? You've failed to detail that here. Please feel free to do so.
As I said in the previous comment, I don't even know that she's selling that song. Do you? None the less, I'm still at a loss at why she should not be able to make a profit?
Or are you posting here under the silly propaganda-fueled nonsense that OWS is somehow against anybody making a profit? If so, you are more of a wingnut dupe than I've so far given you credit for.
