Desi talked about home grown solar and wind energy. How many times when I lived in Wyoming and we had strong arctic gusts coming from CANADA! And the last I saw, we don’t control the sun. I know that we will have an eclipse this summer, all of the Solar PV will probably be eclipsed and might cause a huge drop. Let’s use the newklear option.
Larry Taylor’s comment @1 typifies overblown concerns by those opposing expansion of solar power. A total solar eclipse is a rare and transient event that covers a small area.
In 2015, concern about the impact of a total solar eclipse arose in Europe, where solar use far exceeds our own. Specifically, it was believed there would be a 35,000 MW loss of solar energy over the span of two hours. But, thanks to “meticulous planning” by the European Transmission System Operators, the power loss was offset by reintegration of solar generation “over the span of milliseconds.”
