Living in Long Beach (S/E of Los Angeles), and joining family in the east San Fernando Valley, the pillars of smoke were awe-inspiring. Monday’s setting sun was blood-red as it sank through layers of smoke stretching across the western horizon.
With sights like these, you don’t need images of the universe to realize how puny mankind is in the face of nature’s forces.
But kudos to fire-fighting experts who do all they can…
