The National Conference for Media Reform by the Free Press last weekend had a "Special Session" on election integrity, but there is NO information or archive of the discussion on their website!
Question for Brad:
Why is the critical issue of election integrity continually ignored by our progressive allies?
Here is the notice I got:
A National Conference for Media Reform SPECIALSESSION on ELECTION INTEGRITY
Saturday, June 7, 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Room 212A
Minneapolis Convention Center
1301 Second Avenue South
Minneapolis, MN
Featuring a full screening of Uncounted and a post film discussion with John Bonifaz, of the National Voting Rights Institute & legal director for Voter action
and
John Nichols, Washington Corresponder for The Nation
Hosted by: Voter Action, North Alabama Media Reform and Oregon Voter Rights Council
We all know that coverage by the corporate media of the systemic problems plaguing our elections has been woefully inadequate. Let this special session - developed by the perserverance of Ethan Scarl, Linda Haynes and other Election Integrity activists attending this weekend's National Conference for Media Reform- be the first step towards changing that unfortunate reality.

Carol -
Aware of NoQuarter's anti-Obama stance. That's one of the reasons I look forward to talking with him. Feel free to call in today (888-5-PeterB) with your own question for Larry!

Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime
How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to Help Consumers
By Eliot Spitzer
Thursday, February 14, 2008; A25
Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in consumer protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders. Some were misrepresenting the terms of loans, making loans without regard to consumers' ability to repay, making loans with deceptive "teaser" rates that later ballooned astronomically, packing loans with undisclosed charges and fees, or even paying illegal kickbacks. These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating effect on home buyers. In addition, the widespread nature of these practices, if left unchecked, threatened our financial markets.
Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American homeowners. In fact, the government chose instead to align itself with the banks that were victimizing consumers.
Predatory lending was widely understood to present a looming national crisis. This threat was so clear that as New York attorney general, I joined with colleagues in the other 49 states in attempting to fill the void left by the federal government. Individually, and together, state attorneys general of both parties brought litigation or entered into settlements with many subprime lenders that were engaged in predatory lending practices. Several state legislatures, including New York's, enacted laws aimed at curbing such practices.

Wouldn't a vote for Mc Caine be the same as a vote to keep Valerie Plame, and Sibel Edmonds continued to be gagged?

I wasn't sure she'd get to the "inflate tires" part.
Regarding Devices...
Although, I didn't hear her specifically say HHO was a bogus technology. You can get a set of clean steel plates, a mason jar, and two electrical wires and make HHO and light it and it will snap. It is cracking the water. Are some methods using resonant frequncies of the hydrogen and oxygen better? Perhaps.

I have lost some respect for Larry Johnson. To use the lame arguement that not controling his blog is similar to a potential lack of control in the future White House is remarkable.
He supports Hillary who couldn't control the message of her spokespeople, who couldn't keep her husband from multiple times making racist tinged comments, and ran a campaign that had no plan B (and took over a month to reshape itself) when they didn't win Super Tuesday. Bush didn't have a Plan B in Iraq and we're still paying for it. Similarly the faulty decision making on Super Tuesday was based on bad (intelligence) information about how the delegates were being divided. If your goal is to get the most delegates and you don't know how they're partitioned then I'd say you have a serious problem. How can Larry Johnson pick at Obama's blog but seem to overlook the "experienced" candidate who made so many rookie mistakes. All this and I haven't even mentioned her vote for the war which seemed to be more a political triangualtion to run for president than a reasoned vote based on a reading of the facts (the NIE and other intelligence documents) that were available to senators. Some senators read them and voted accordingly. Most like Hillary did not and voted for authorization. Johnson claims that Obama is naive, but voting for authorization was either naive or bad political triangulation. Either way she looks bad now.
This comes from someone who has not decided who I'll vote for. I usually vote third party. I definitely would not have voted for McCain or Hillary, but I have not yet decided whether Obama will get my vote, or whether I will continue voting 3rd party.
