Tomorrow will be a busy day for “Daily Voting News.” Depending on the number of reports of failures of voting machines around the country we may send out two issues of the news tomorrow. One will be around Noon Pacific and the second at our regular 4PM Pacific time. Let’s hope that this will not be necessary and that there are no reports of poll sites that didn’t open on time, long lines due to machine failures, voters turned away from the polls without voting due, “vote flipping”, or any other malfunctions or “glitches”.
Two days ago, in this space, I talked about Liberty voting machines and how they had been banned even in their home country, The Netherlands. Late this afternoon a judge in New York found that the state must allow these same machines to be sold in the state. Maybe the judge needs to take a trip and talk to officials in The Netherlands, Germany, and Ireland?

I hadn’t seen this yet in your daily voter roundup, but it looks like John Gideon caught the same Feb. 2 Associated Press article in the Indianapolis Star. This is a big deal:
While the Indiana voter ID case is being deliberated by the Supreme Court, it looks like the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, on behalf of the Republicans in power in this state, appears to be getting ready implement Phase II of the Indiana voter suppression plan.
According to the article,
As most here probably know, a valid driver’s license is an acceptable form of ID under the Indiana voter ID law, and for those that have them, this law does not create much of a burden.
As Brad and many others have pointed out before, the law is aimed at making voting much more difficult for those who don’t own driver’s licenses. Phase II is obviously about increasing the population of those who don’t own driver’s licenses by about 100,000 or so.
Could the Indiana Republicans’ truly reprehensible intentions behind the voter ID law be made any clearer with this latest gambit?

I wonder if the Supremes know that the criminals in Indy are getting desperate to corrupt the election?
Someone should inform them with a follow-up brief perhaps.
