Following up on last night’s exclusive in which we reported that progressive Los Angeles talk radio host and former TV news anchor Bree Walker had purchased Cindy Sheehan’s “Camp Casey” property in Crawford, TX.
As expected, AP, CNN, et al. picked up the story today after we reported it here. Also as expected, though we were the only outlet to have the story and neither Walker nor Sheehan issued press releases, none of the MSM outlets bothered to give us credit for having reported it here on The BRAD BLOG. So we won’t bother to link to their reports either, but at least we told you they exist.
We reported last night that Sheehan was to appear live in studio this afternoon on Walker’s radio show to hand her the deed to the property, and that we were also scheduled as a guest on the program as well.
The audio from our guest appearance today along with the two women follows below. The clip includes Sheehan’s transfer of the deed for her land near George W. Bush’s “ranch” to Walker, along with some thoughts on her plans for Camp Casey’s future.
Walker told us yesterday that by purchasing the land, she was “cashing out [her] capitalist corporate stocks and buying into a legacy of peace.” Today she expanded on her hopes to move forward within the anti-war movement. “I will be learning what my role is to be, in being the new caretaker and landowner of Camp Casey,” she explained to listeners during her weekend broadcast on KTLK AM1150.
“Like Cindy says, this is not a movement of Right or Left, it’s a movement of right or wrong. So my goal will try to be a unifying person there in Crawford, Texas. And if I’m not welcome in my anti-war activities? Well, too bad. Look out. You think Cindy Sheehan was tough? You just wait,” Walker vowed.
She reiterated, during her comments about Camp Casey, that she hoped to continue its historic legacy. “That hallowed ground,” Walker promised, “will remain a place for protest against war, and a place for peace and freedom.”

Hey Bree, are those D’s or double D’s ?
This is really great. Cindy would never be able to settle there because of the memories.
Note to new owner: DID YOU KNOW that the Chisholm Trail runs through your new property? History happened there and it makes your investment a good one.
A win win is always a good thing. Congratulations to both of you.
I have been in Crawford many times since Bush became “president.” But it was only during the vigil of Ausgut 2005 that I came to recognize the real physical beauty of the place.
Perhaps it was because of all the wonderful good vibes that were being sent from all over the world, or because of the many beautiful peaceful people who came there and brought their great karma with them…..but however it happened, I came to really love Crawford’s beauty and quiet.
Nothing beats a Crawford full moon on a warm summer evening when cooling breezes begin to chase away the summer heat. I hope to meet Bree there, soon. She has made a wonderful purchase and i know that many people are very grateful for it and thank her from the bottom of their hearts. Linda in Fort Worth
Hi Brad, we met at Camp Casey, ’05, and it’s was great listening to the show yesterday. What a great thing for Bree Walker to have done. This camp is beautiful and has the touch of many a soul. It’s physical beauty is matched by a spirit of peace and goodness which lingers here.
Personal thanks for all of your hard and meaningful work.

This is great news!
I linked to your earlier report, and I think my blogging software sent an automatic trackback which doesn’t appear to have been approved, so it works both ways.
I note also that, unlike what the earlier post said, Walker paid $87,000 for the property, more than 60% more than the original purchase price. I’m not going to fault you for that, only for not noting it that I can see.
Maybe Sheldon Drobny would be willing to look into whether the improvements made are worth $32,000. I kid!
BoreAmerica – We don’t have trackbacks, however it is that they are supposed to work, set up here.
That “none of the MSM outlets bothered to give us credit for having reported it here” is par for the course for:
(New Hacker’s Dictionary).
Hey Linda in Fort Worth,
I got down there too as a representative of the little people.
You know … the most of us. 🙂

I suggest a “lawyer’s letter” to the counsel at the different thieves offices indicating you want credit ON AIR or IN PRINT or you will sue them for copyright infringement.
The WaPo, back when they were a real newspaper and the only one covering Watergate copyrighted their stories, and every news story that used them (when they started to) began with “In a copyrighted story in the Washington Post today…”
BradBlog should get no less.

Right after I posted my now infamous entry on The Walker Purchase, I saw a hit from bradblog.com/wp-admin, which I thought was our host checking those tracking back to him. I’ll assume it was something else.
Bree has been a main staple in California for years; always a delight to hear from her or of her.
Bree is not only beautiful, smart and funny; but, she is great American.
America, keep an eye on this quite capable star of person.
