IMHO the cabal in power will never allow him to get kicked out prior to the constitutionally-selected, minus a "live boy or dead girl" scenario. even if it means a show-down with Congress, somebody will make sure that any vote to impeach will go BushCo's way. there's too much money riding on it for them to let members of Congress muck things up.
yet i don't think they will be so brazen as to postpone his scheduled exit, either. i just don't think they'll be able to slip that one past, and it would be too much even for their own rabid base to accept. they need the base's money to keep their Congress-critters in office, ensuring the money-train of government contracts is protected.
them's my two cents.

Long Time no Tune . . . . . Until NOW . . .
Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you're in my way
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Angel of darkness is upon you
Stuck a needle in your arm
So take another toke, have a blow for your nose
One more drink fool, will drown you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Now they call you Prince Charming
Can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes
Say you'll be all right come tomorrow
But tomorrow might not be here for you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Hey, you're a fool you
Stick them needles in your arm
I know I been there before
One little problem that confronts you
Got a monkey on your back
Just one more fix, Lord might do the trick
One hell of a price for you to get your kicks
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

I'm thinking he's leaving before, but not because of impeachment. More like needing to get to the compound in Paraguay before the office stops protecting him from indictment.
John Dean has a particularly positive idea about how to approach the current unwillingness to impeach him in Congress. Having been researching very hard lately on a rogue agency under DHS; to wit: ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), I have to say I hope they will start with Chertoff if they will at least have taken Dean's advice. That's some cold shit going on there, and hardly anyone is looking. I have the feeling that some older, better established, government agencies are looking, though, and I think it may be within their power to help Congress knock out the Nazis. I think, in fact, they will be avid to do this.
So. I say Paraguay before January 2009.

Besides all the excitement of Cheney being inaugurated would kill him.
The next in line after that is a Democrat Sen Robert C Byrd.

A pie-in-the-sky senario may be that that First Fart could be arrested in full public view while he's doing his last, very last State of the Union speech in early '07. He'd be arrested by a brave military general who'd finally work up the guts to arrest First Fart and his cohorts, which would be Big Dick sidekick, his mistress Rice and many others who'd have been involved with the illegal Iraqi war. I'd hope that there'd be a Special Forces break-in into the Congressional bld where the First Fart would be doing his annual BS State of the Union speech.
But who do we choose to replace all thos bastards? That's the problem. I'd choose Ron Paul as a new, temporary leader in such chaotic times, but most people don't really know about him, so likely, if this improbable senario would happen, that there'd be more "wrong" people selected to "lead" this country---in other words, "leaders" would be selected by the elites who really run this country (the "elites are the true owners of the banks of the Federal Reserve system) to "serve" (serve the elites, not the sheople) the country until "legit" (i.e. DREs) elections are run with the elite-chosen "leaders" being "chosen" to "lead" the sheople.
No matter how things turn out, the outcome in nearly any senario would not favor the People by any means. It so totally sucks that our government has been so seriously usurped by the corporate bastards. It sucks to have so many sheople fall asleep at the switch. Some are awake or awakening, like the ones who read Brad Blog, but how do we translate our democratic desires into reality when the larger realities of a massively disinformed public is in no position to competently choose the right (as in favoring the People) leaders to help us make the right kind of macro-choices to help all of us make better micro-choices?
I'm thinking that, realistically, the First Fart will somehow hang on to his Presidency to the bitter, bitter end, at which only his wife and his dog would be his steadfast supporters--everyone else will have abandoned him, including his wild daughters.
Mark my words on this: the next President will be the Terminator Governator, Ahnold, no less. I predict that he'd be a last-minute candidate and that he'd go on a whirlwind tour around the country with the media stirring up a media frenzy in support of him, just like what happened in the recall election that happened in California. Schwarzenegger will be the very last President, hence the term, "Terminator President". He's being groomed for this role and I just about guarantee that he'll run and "win" the Presidency. He'd be the "perfect" antidote to the emasculated idiot President, but, in reality, Schwarzenegger will likely drive in the final stake in the heart of America and kill her.
Just search this: " Lucifer Time Code " and read the part 1 and part 2 versions of this bone-chilling narrative about Ahnold and our possible collective futures.

I voted for the first option, mainly because I believe that eventually the repigs will realize what a liability he is and will force him out. And then, as 99 predicts, it will be off to Paraguay to cower for the rest of his natural, well, not natural actually, freakishly monstrous life. As for the gropenfuhrer, there isn't nearly enough time to move a constitutioal amendment through before 2008, thank goodness.

I voted for after his scheduled departure date. For 2 years I have said Bush will not give up his position as King. However, I pray I am wrong and after Democrats won both houses, I am far more hopeful he will not stay.
Bush has made a Presidential career of implementing the absolute worst case scenarios, IMHO. It follows he would therefore refuse to leave at the end of his term.

I voted option two. The question was not what I wanted to happen, but rather what I think will happen.
The question did not contemplate the unforseen, and so I am in the middle, wishing option one would happen, so long as The Dick Cheney went out with the blush.
The only chance of option one being the reality, however, is if the powermoney republican party of the middle, such as Jim Baker, come together and give preznit blush and The Dick an ultimatum. And tell them that they will join the dems in an impeachment effort if they do not get real.
If they do not listen then the republican party is going to be destroyed by blush-cheney. The republicans will loose the '08 presidential election and loose more seats in the senate and house if the blush-cheney neoCon doctrines continue to guide US foreign policy.
The signals of a military build up are a sign that blush-cheney are telling the moderate republicans to stuff it.
These things move so slowly, however, that it is quite doubtful impeachment will evolve within two years.
More likely that the dems will investigate, subpoena, and expose the regime. The public will really stick it to the republicans in '08 because the neoCons can't understand plain english.

I believe that he'll be out fairly soon, but not because of any impeachment. I believe that there will be a veiled coup d'etat, although I don't know how it will be handled.
I don't think the Democrats will take the lead or even be involved. The current civilian power structure knows full well that if Dubya stays around for another 2 years they are doomed, and the current military power structure knows that we won't have a functioning army if he stays around for 2 more years.
They'll get together and act. We won't know it's coming until it's over. I think Dubya has been given a deadline---he has until the State of the Union speech to shape up or he's out, and Cheney with him.

Therefore I suspect he may find a way to make it official, though his pride and his followers are propping him up.
That's a psychological view, not a political one.
It will take a strong country to get through this man's disastrous reactions to his personal drama in life. They ignited a world of vengeance and hate (ever-ready to ignite under bad leadership) and the world has suffered terribly as a result. But history is full of stories like his. Babies are born and beauty is created and a future lies ahead anyway. That is what people are beginning to understand in connection to each other all over the world (in cyberspace like this) and they will work with each other for mutual truth and eventual peace.

In their thinking, war is a good thing. Makes key people much richer and to them that is all that counts. They respect the dollar (bottom line) not the Constitution or people. People are just a means to the end. Sorry to be so negative folks, but this is reality. I was sorry to hear that Pelosi stated that "impeachment" isn't even on the agenda. Impeach Bush. Impeach Cheney. After their convictions and removal from office (loss of immunity from prosecution) bring charges of treason against them. After that, begin the war crimes tribunal. Bring charges of treason, war crimes and any related criminal charges against Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice, Pearle, Hadley, Ashbrook, Chertoff, and the rest of the mid-level cabalists. Bring charges of treason against Hastert, DeLay, Boehner, and the rest of the GOP insiders. Bring election tampering, voter intimidation and related charges against Rove, Ken Mehlman and the other GOP party apparatchiks who repeatedly undermined free and fair elections in this country. There is ample evidence to accomplish all of these prosecutions. Consider this necessary to cleanse the political process of the stench resulting from years of corruptible Republicans and Democrats nakedly pursuing power at all costs.
Now, all we need is a public with the courage and moral fiber to pursue these prosecutions and to remain vigilant against efforts by men and women of undue influence to undermine these efforts. Oh, and a mass media that remembers its duty to the nation.

Option number 1. Impeachment would be nice, but I think the man's going to crack. The divergence of reality and Bush Jr.'s stupborn pesonal beliefs will come to a head eventually. He is betting the Motherload on blind faith in Iraq, and when things continue to spiral out of control his stress levels will snowball. Add to that the incerdilbly complex and tragic prediciment America finds itself in - and all the pressures of having no good choices for the "Decider" to make and you have the recepie for a total meltdown. That's not even considering the stress to come from investigations about pre-war intelligence tinkering (lying) that will inevitably come home to roost. Bush doesn't have great coping skills (outside of denying reality) at the best of times. When sh*t really hits the fan I expect to see some unceremonious departure of a disgraced President. Ofcourse, there will be some spin applied to try to blunt the failure, but that will only half work for a short while.

I sincerely hope that he leaves on his last day or sooner, though I don't have much expectation for sooner --- too many ballless poll-watching politicos in the Congress.
The 2008 election season will be quite interesting, and then they will give us MORE OF THE SAME. The 2006 mid-terms were an accident of "not stealing quite enough" because they misunderestimated how much their base hated higher gas prices and the war.
They have removed 5 Million solid dems from the voter rolls, and will probably work extra hard to remove 5-10 million more in the next 2 years. They still control the electoral process. The media are still lap dogs; they do seem to be barking a tiny bit, but they have no bite or any desire to speak TRUTH to power (Kieth Olberman excepted).
Folks, we need to work VERY hard in the next 2 years to prepare for the VERY worst, because that is what they are going to shove down our throats.

P.S. Brad, why don't you work on keeping this site "The Premier Blog on Election Reform" and not dillute it with anything else. It's a BRAND --- you own it --- GO FOR IT! KOS will never have it. HuffPost will never have it. DN will never have it. You ALREADY have it! Don't squander it.
