I heard somewhere, ( maybe Thom Hartmann?) that there going to privatize the BBC and that the old Carlyle Group is in the running for the main buy up of stock

Why is anyone surprised that the BBC did a real news report, while an American commercial network did a fluffy coverup? There's nothing new in that.
The BBC may not be what it was, but it's still superior to anything in this country. Which probably explains why the Blair government keeps working to emasculate it.

What a shock. To think that our MSM wouldn't seriously investigate our BONEHEAD, INSANE, TRIGGERHAPPY federal government. It gets worse. If we don't utterly IGNORE the MSM and take back our country...and this might mean massive street demonstrations, and possibly armed conflict with the Right, we will never have another fair election and therefore won't be able to toss these losers out.

And, why the heck don't they all just save themselves the salaries of these news "anchors" and "correspondents" by letting Rush Limbaugh "report" all the news? What's the point of putting a bunch of different faces on the same spoiled rotten bratty childishness that passes for journalism and governance these days?
Looking at the newly infiltrating footage of Abu Ghraib abuses, it's pretty clear that Rummy was staunchly on the other side of the banjo duel when watching Deliverance. Everyone in America should be seeing this stuff on their big screen TVs. ONE network showing the truth, ONE and this stuff would be OVER.

Wonder why NBC did a hatchet job on this important story while the BBC covered it like the important news it is?
Watch WHY WE FIGHT and you'll get your answer.
Hint: NBC = GE = War Profits = put a positive spin on all war stories = spy on anti-war protests = implement fascism.

I've heard this all day today:
"We're fanning the flames of terrorism, by releasing these pictures", instead of "We shouldn't be torturing prisoners."
When are we going to do the story of who exactly is orchestrating our "controlled" MSM news? Can we find that out?
And notice this when you're watching the news. The GUY who's saying, "We're fanning the flames of terrorism, by releasing these pictures."
1. Exactly who is the guy?
2. Why did the MSM news program put this guy on?
It's not actually the GUY, it's the people running the MSM news who put him on!!! There has been, and always will be, nutcakes...but they shouldn't get a national forum by the MSM to say their "shit".
I recall about a year ago, CNN had a guy named Ken Timmerman on all the time, saying we should attack Iran. I started writing emails to CNN, saying, "Who is this guy, and why is he on CNN every night pimping a war with Iran, and why are you giving him a forum to do this?" And I posted this everywhere I could. And the next thing you know, you never saw Ken Timmerman again. Who the fuck was Ken Timmerman? Who are all these guys they put on TV??? Not the newscasters, the non-newscasters they continually put on TV, like they are some kind of expert.
The strategy is to imply that this person is an "expert", and that is why they are on CNN (or whatever news). But, start asking yourself, "Who is this guy?" And, "Why is he on CNN, portrayed as some kind of expert?" "Why should I believe what he is saying?"

When people watch the MSM news, and the anchor is bantering constantly with guests who are always pro-Bush administration, it gives the "impression" that everyone is "on the same page" and the majority of people are thinking that way. The polls say something different (approval rating). It's propoganda! It is definitely not 50-50, for diversified points of view. We saw that in the MSM news in the lead-up to the Iraq War. FAIR logged that the MSM news had near 90% pro-Iraq War guests, when the American people were close to an even split. It's to give the "impression" that everyone is thinking the same way. It offers no different points of view to important topics.
Look closely and compare the 2 video's above. Then, watch ANY news on ANY night, and compare it to Democracy NOW! news. It's the same thing.
Keep flicking between ABC/NBC/CBS, and you'll see the same stories at the same times, with the exact commercial breaks at the same times! Are you telling me this isn't orchestrated?
Tonight, Democracy NOW! had an interview with the Muslim army chaplain who was incarcerated for 76 days on trumped up charges, and was eventually released. And they had extensive coverage of the force-feeding at Abu Ghraib, and how they strap them into these chairs, and very violently and painfully force tubes down their throats against their wills and force-feed them. There were 85 hunger strikers, and now there are 4. Because they are force-feeding them.
This is important news they are suppressing in the MSM, just like vote fraud on electronic vote machines. Didn't Bev Harris say she knows someone in the MSM who knows for a fact there is a blackout on reporting vote fraud on electronic voting machines?
We are all being taken for a ride by the MSM news.
Go to mediamatters.org, and there are so many documented cases of rightwing bias in the MSM news, and outright lies, you can't read them all. Where are the disputes of mediamatters.org 's claims? There are none!

Everytime I see MSM coverage of "alleged" US violations, its as if they are playing defense attorney for the US govt instead of being impartial observers and reporters. They always question the legitimacy and bias of "accusers", rarely that of our own govt.
I watched George Clooney on Larry King tonight. Clooney said some excellent things about our current state of affairs, and his personal need to speak out, particularly when questioned about issues stemming from his involvement in Syriana and the Murrow movie. One of the things he said that was particularly brilliant was about there never being a time in human history where a government curbed civil rights and said "trust us" and actually ended up being worthy of trust. "Trust us" ALWAYS turns out badly. And what was Larry King's response? Nothing. Silence. Move on to the next topic. I guess King knows who butters his bread. As do they all in the MSM.

The Bush administration was taking credit on behalf of our "democratic" system for facing up to prisoner abuse when it put Graner and England on trial. "This is how we do it in a democracy, as opposed to Iraq where it's done in secret." If those photos hadn't leaked out, of course, we'd never have known about it and Graner and England would still be doing it.
Now things have changed a bit, apparently. BBC shows pictures of torture at Gitmo, and this "...fans the flames of terrorism." Not the torture itself, just telling people about it. Expect one or two selective prosecutions of "bad apples," and plausible denial of everything else.

Its simple republican talking point blame shifting. A republican tortures someone, and a democrat takes a picture of it.
The democrat is then blamed for not stopping the torture.
The republican MSM gets all over it and starts a campaign against the democrat traitor who took the picture and showed it to others to let them know what is going on in their name.
Then the republicans start a campaign against the traitors who "support terrorists who do bad things to people".
Hey, get in on it, it's an MSM trigger happiness thang ...

BBC may get lapped up by Carlyle or Murdoch!!!
(After all, Greg Dyke was ousted for showing that the British government was complicit and that there were many questions regarding Dr. David Kelly's suspicious suicide.)
But UK's Channel 4 will keep reporting real news. I've got confidence in that for now.

I especially enjoyed the part of the NBC news where the reporter talks about force feeding hunger striking prisoners while at the exact same time showing a video of sandwiches being distributed through a hole in a cell door.
A most clever way to downplay the violent force feeding that the UN calls torture.

Call me crazy but here's something that maybe we should be seeing on the news:
the selling of control of six of our major ports to the United Arab Emirates. Air America has been talking about this but I don't hear about it anywhere else.

Dredd,
I've read that Miami is suing over the ports issue & that there's a bill by Clinton & someone else to try & keep it from happening.
Re Curtis..listen, I would fling him over my shoulder & carry him in myself if that would get him in there. I'm not in his district, though!!
