More and more scattered voting problems are being reported. Of course, almost all are being blamed on people and not the machines. In some locations where they are using op-scan but elections officials want to use DREs there are complaints about how slow op-scans are. It’s also very strange that Ohio’s SoS has announced what a great success the machines were in his state while counties are reporting wide-spread problems and his deputy is promising to investigate problems in Lucas County. Diebold and AccuPoll have both put out press releases bragging about successful elections on their machines…

I think Comment #1 is right on. We’re seeing a number of stories of problems in Ohio, where some places were now moving toward no paper in their election systems.
Other places (and media) laud the coming of the electronic systems ("woo-woo! Gwaaaa-laay!!"), as if they’re the coming of electricity…
Why is no one asking the question of why we need electronic systems at all? Is that just it? We’re Americans, and therefore it is an assumption that anything that makes our lives easier (like touching a screen vs. having to pick up a pencil and make a mark on paper…) makes our lives better, even if the accuracy is less and probability of trouble is more?
Would not the money spent on these systems be better spent to pay and train poll workers and vote counters? I’ve seen several stories that quoted poll workers as being happy that they didn’t have to work so hard. Hmmm… Wonder if they’re as concerned with accuracy… I’ve seen others that indicated, due to snafus with the electronic systems, they had to stay up all night counting votes… I hope that means they get results that are accurate reflections of the will of the voters…

This is nothing more than a pile of bullshit. If there were no election problems, what is the meaning of all the statements above?!??

These machines need to be ripped out and permanently BANNED, besides the verified paper ballots, if anyone wants real elections EVER.

There was plenty of election fraud in Ohio, Virginia and so on. It needs to be completely investigated and the machines removed which I see there’s already open criminal investigations in several states including Missouri……but not Ohio yet.

      Here’s a thought~~

The GOP held back on the election fraud for the ’05 ballots specifically to make Progressives let down their guard, knowing that it was mostly gubernatorial and mayoral stuff anyway (oh…and the Arnold charade?!), and Diebold, Triad, ES &S and Sequoia will hammer Progressives in 2006…

We are fucked if we don’t take huge steps to curtail/reverse the privatization of our elections!!

      The clock is ticking!!
