Just couldn't believe that some Americans in the Gallop poll thought Bush shouldn't be held accountable. Seems that poll was scewed maybe just a little? Perhaps that was the Rove POLL
Lets see how the spin team handles this. Hey Daily Kos is saying that EVEN Michelle Malkin is calling for Michael Browns firing. Wow ! Of course, he will be a handy scape goat and then everyone will say they have done their job.
Until the next disaster with another Bush favor heading up FEMA.

Mary,
With numbers like these, if Rove/Clint Curtis/Rep. Feeney tried to fix the election, the whole world would know it.
And they would likely revolt.
And then no one would doubt that the election was rigged.

Let's just imagine the Pubs hadn't been able to steal Florida and the 2000 election. What would today be like?
Would we have had 9/11? Maybe not. Certainly it was proven that the Clinton/Gore CIA was highly aware that something big from Osama was up...
OK, but what if they missed it, and we still had 9/11. Would President Gore have let Osama get away to continue his work from Pakistan? Would President Gore have been able to, with world approval, stomp down the terrorists threat in Afganastan and help the people there move toward a fair, workable government of some kind?
More importantly, would President Gore have spent bazillions of dollars and blood in Iraq? Of course not. Saddam would still be there, but bothering only his own people, who would still be living with the comforts of a reasonably modern state. Yes Sadam would continue being terrible to some of his own citizens, but would not, due to continuing UN oversight, be able to harm nearly as many innocents as have been harmed by the current situation. Would President Gore be pushing Sadam to improve his human rights efforts? Of course. Would then Sadam be weirdly helping us by keeping Muslim extremists and Al Quida terrorists out of his land? Of course.
Would President Gore have cut funding to the Corps of Engineers project to protect New Orleans (arguably our most important port...) from hurricanes? Of course not, if anything he would have led the environmental charge to save the marshlands that formerly protected the area. Would President Gore have helped increase global warming and polar cap melting (which lead to more and more terrible hurricanes...) with his policies? Of course not! Would our children and grandchildren be safer from natural and man-made disasters if Al Gore had been elected? You betcha!
And that, boys and girls, is why we must NEVER lose sight of the fact that stolen elections is THE issue of our time. Keep pluggin' away, y'all!

Let's just imagine what would have happened if the Pubs had not stolen the Presidency in the 2004 election.
Would President Kerry have kept us slogging away in Iraq, losing more money and more American and Iraqi lives? Hell No! We would already be in some sort of international, UN sponsored withdrawal; perhaps even with all our troops home, with most available to deal with Katrina.
Would President Kerry have hidden from a distraught mother of a US soldier who had made the ultimate sacrifice? Hell No!
Would President Kerry have stayed on vacation an extra two days as the Katrina disaster was unfolding? Would President Kerry have appointed a competant FEMA leader with experience in large-scale disaster relief instead of an Arabian Horse dealer? Would President Kerry's FEMA leader have had his organization ready to deal with this hurricane season, especially with the New Orleans flood possibility? I think so.
Would President Kerry have been in New Orleans from the first day, giving orders and not allowing gross incompetance to detract from a rescue effort? I think so.
And that, again, boys and girls, is why we must NEVER lose sight of the fact that stolen elections is THE issue of our time. Keep pluggin' away, all 6 or 7 of y'all!

MrBluesky, read an interesting survey prior to 2004 (hate to use the word election) contest.
People who were die hard Bush supporters were given documents, facts, information of his lies, just for instance the lack of funding after he bragged about No Child Left Behind, or funding for Aids in Africa. You get the idea.
Anyway, they still believed Bush was a good man with American's best interests at heart.
Unbelievable...so I talked with some psychologist friends. I was informed that some personalities cannot change their thinking without losing their concept that a father, leader, pastor would do them harm. It would actually destroy their world.
These particular personalities stop learning at a certain age, their minds just refuse to change course or accept alternative thinking, even expand their thinking.
And I see it, quite well educated people finding extraordinary excuses for the blatent lying of this administration. They cannot admit they were wrong even if by no fault of their own except to believe in a leader.
We can only hope that compassion for our fellow human beings, how they are suffering will get the thinking people to say ENOUGH ! I just have to believe that or it is too hard to continue.

Mrbluesky has a good point. President Butcher and his puppetmaster KKKarl will HAVE to fix at least some of the midterm Senatorial races, or they'll lose their Republican majority--and their control over events. But with numbers like these it will be obvious to still more people that something's amiss with the counting. My bet is that they will do it anyway, and hope to control the spin afterward.

TexasLady re: #6 - It's called "cognitive dissonance", and it is VERY real.
I see it in my own family, and for the life of me I can NOT figure it out. I mean, we're from the same background, have many of the same life experiences - but there are those who just will not - CAN NOT - believe that the person they voted for is a selfish and soulless criminal who looks out only for his own interests and those of his rich associates.
What floors me is, I finally figured out where at least SOME of them get their information - ever heard of "Rick and Bubba", the radio personalities? They're two Bush supporting rednecks that have a morning talk show in the south.
Talk about clueless and out of touch with reality!! They're not exactly the brightest bulbs in the string either, if the two of them combine IQs they just MIGHT break the 150 mark...

Not if we get the voting machines out of those states.......Because all that matters, is banning the vote stealers.
http://www.banvotingmachines.org
They also have stolen several elections for dems so these things need to be out of the process. Remember the biggest proponent is the majority leader. For the Senate needs the real majority leader and not a horrible mistake...... So those are the races that have be kept under a microscope. And at the same time the voting machines must be run out of dixie.

Now that's the guy we oughta give a medal to!
The story about a German government official calling for Bush to be "shot down" and the story of how US oil companies have shut down refineries to make gasoline more scarce and the Katrina story all point to Bush & Co. as not just politicians, but a whole sector of our society (albeit a small one) going berzerkers and trying to destroy the whole ball of wax.
What ails America that we would go off the rails and do such crazy things?
Well, first things first, let's aid the victims of Katrina (bitch goddess of bad weather) and inform the public. I gave some money today at WalMart. Even they seem to have more of a heart than any Bush.

Kestrelbrighteyes - no, haven't heard of those two.
This profile tho, transcends IQ because seemingly, educated people some with more means some with less fall into this profile.
Many people like to think they "are part of the money crowd", or above the common person, and they associate Republicans with wealth.
What a shock it will be when they find out death makes no distinction between money and poor.

We are in deep trouble, ladies and gentelman
You have got to do everything possible to get the Congress off their ass, to shut down the oil mafia and to impeach these crooks and do it NOW, such as within the next 2 weeks begin the whole proces.
We are running out of time, and that's no joke. The devestation has just barely begun.
Hurricaine Ophelia is amassing a ghastly force right off the Florida coastline. It could be smashing straight through Florida within the next 4 days.
Doppler Radar: Hurricaine Ophelia
This is due to hit the coast and comes before Hurricaine Nate, which is building off the pacific.
It could be headed on a straight-collision course for the Carolinas. Weather "experts" are predicting worse.
With this failure run administration of Oil crooks and criminal spies, the relief effort will be even WORSE. It could leave millions more homeless. My cousin has already moved from the Florida central area aware that this land is not safe.
Because of the greed and evil lust for fossil fuels the bureaocrats are facing the retribution: Global Warming. Our only choice as americans, as a society is to cut down on fossil fuels and switch over immediately to a different source. The environment has to be cleaned up, or disasters like this are going to be coming by the dozens.
Just the fact these are predicted to hit the red states first and in the worst way, should be cause for them all to change their policy. Destroying trees and burning up the air and land has made mother nature very, very scornful.

I wonder what happened to the poor guy who dared to say it.
Shouldn't we all chime in, like that scene in Spartacus where they all stand up & say "I'M Spartacus!"
A coast-to-coast chorus of "Fuck you, Mr. Cheney"?
The guy didn't shout it angily either. It was said so mildly.
I don't know if I could manage to say it so mildly.

Everyone should be out there amassing around the White House RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
There is 300 people there already, all from mississippi and its making Rove very NERVOUS!!!!!
Our biggest problem is not taking action right AWAY, we should be amassing thousands there and right away not waiting to build it up on the 24th, not waiting for certain deadlines and worrying about getting off work.
Everyone should be doing what those survivors are doing, giving the message to Bush & cronies right now to RESIGN NO MATTER WHAT....And if they don't resign, we're going to impeach them and we're going to make it really uncomfortable.

I recently read an article, linked by someone at Conyers' Blog, I think, about Spiral of Silence. This has to do with the fear people have of drifting away from mainstream views. This fear turns mainstream views into the only views held by reasonable people. People tend to keep more silent about views they have that they fear may not be mainstream. People who have more social anxiety may tend to morph their views towards the mainstream.
I think this Spiral of Silence is very much at work in America today and is being orchestrated in part by the MSM. I read in a book recently that a study done around 1980 showed that all views were represented in the media, except for far left views. Far right views were represented, but not far left.
If that's true, I think that alone has probably done much, over time, to silence alternative views coming from the left. Mention Buckley as a hero and you'll get nods and appreciative reactions. Mention Chomsky and you'll get rolled eyes. Or simply blank looks. Unless you happen to be in some left wing context.
My best friend's Mom is the perfect receptor. She watches a lot of cable tv. She forms unshakeable opinions that she can never justify, beyond citing some impression. Her reaction to Katrina? She doesn't think that gov. of La knows what he is doing. You could talk to her about Fema until you are blue in the face, but it wouldn't make a dent.

Read a super article by a professor regarding Germany during Hitler's time.
He said, first they came for the Jews but I wasn't a Jew so I said nothing.
Then they came for the Polish but I wasn't Polish so I said nothing.
Then they came for me, but no one was there to stand up for me.
So sad, but so true and we have learned nothing from history.

Phil: No chance, its already building into a 3. It could become a catergory 4 or worse....
Those who say them right-wingers are beyond no hope need to remember many of them are in a sad state of denial. All over the country the right-wingers are waking up in massive, huge movements.
Including the republicans decrying Bush in D.C. right now. Its not the far-right, its not republicans to blame. Its the entire GOP agenda.
Republicans have become completely disconnected from society and from America in general, as have many democrats. They only see a flawed, sinking bathtub and using a flawed conservative view want to drown everything in it.
The NEOCON inspired zionist world order has destroyed republican policy. It has become completely wrecked. It has to be overhauled or there will never be a republican party.
Meanwhile, Howard Dean has hit the truth home very hard on ed schultz. The same thing happened with the democratic party drifting towards corporate ownership, and not only being timid to stand up as opposition but becoming corrupted.
Now there needs to be a dividing line and that is ONLY possible by the left taking up the entire mission now. DRIVE the far-right and the sunken bathtub out right NOW and reach every american that you can, begin driving them out now.
Put everyone into D.C. right away and surround their house. They are slowly cracking even if it doesn't seem like it, because the spin isn't brainwashing everyone the way they always hope. Their only chance for survival is another 9/11 or worse....But they'll get that soon enough.
Two more disasters are expected to hit the coast soon and nothing is going to look good for this administration, so strike hard. Do the right thing and organize impeachment and resignation letters in mass.....Start getting into D.C. and flooding the place. Let them know their number is up, and Tom Delay will be fired for taking bribes. Force Hastert to recuse himself and then begin impeachment proceedings.
It does, in fact have to be organized asap. The holocaust that is coming for the states brought on by global warming, greed and indifference is going to be massive. The same sinning crooked evils of our society will wash away but, thousands of innocents and others may suffer.
Can't back down, can't surrender now. I've been keeping eyes glued on the weather and reports, we're in for a shock.

Quite so ... But even Chomsky is hardly representative of the serious left. What does he say about 9/11? For that matter, what does he say about the JFK assassination? I still think he's more a gatekeeper than a true dissident. But even his voice is shut out. Which shows the kind of trouble we're in.

Nope there's no way Chomsky is the left. Air America and Howard Dean they are the left, progressives and the majority of americans.....Are who have to break down the smokescreen and all the spin machine.
Its good that some of the media finally got a conscience......But its going to take you, me, and everyone else to get them to tear up the neocons and start impeachment polls. And they have to happen now......Because the disasters are not going to wait for any of us, and these natural disasters do not wait for the 24th or later.

Doug, thanks for the input. I looked it up before and the article said it was a one. 'Course, we don't always believe what we read.
I think a lot about what will happen when the disasters hit, as they already have. I'm not sure that they wake people up. I think they drive people deeper into denial, unless they can see alternatives. That's why its so important for the national Dems to be stooges. The rich, and slimy of this country like Cheney will never wake up. They are pure fascist racism intwined. They are 15% of the country you are shouting against.
However, the rest of them can and will wake up. The GOP is waking up and it will take the House Democrats coming absolutely unglued, and taking care of Tom Delay for impeachments to begin.
Remember, behind the curtain the "I" word has been being discussed quite alot...
Reepublicans use the I word, Represenative Ron Paul lays out the facts
But the crooks are preventing a fair trial as they want to protect Bushco and big oil. Remember the truth...

It amazes me, how we quote these polls, and rightly so, because polls are people asking people questions, no Diebold machines involved.
BUT...we totally dismissed the exit polls that said Kerry won the election by 5 million votes. The Diebold electronic machines said Bush won by 3 million...8 million vote swing. Diebold, who are big GOP donors, and the CEO promised Bush "a victory on his machines", and later apologized for making that statement publicly.
So, this is America: The elites & corporate America (the extreme minority of people in this country, by the way), have the means to steal the elections and then promote their anti-middle-class and anti-poor agenda. This is America, and it all starts with the elites & corporate America stealing elections on THEIR voting machines THEY MAKE.
This Brad Blog article about Zogby poll, is the same Zogby who said that his exit polls showed Kerry winning the election.
I'm not bashing polls, in fact I think they're more accurate than the machines. What I'm saying, is that the polls, including Zogby, said that Kerry won the election, and it was totally dismissed by the mainstream media.

I think the actual poll results are probably lower than 41% (or the pollsters are purposely skewing their pool of polled people (sorry for the unintentional alliteration) like Gallup and Rasmussen do so that it isn't an accurate picture. I have a sneaking suspicion that the 40% approval mark is as low as they will set the limbo pole and we will never hear of results below that, as in if it's really 34% or 32% etc. we'll be told that "Bush's approval ratings have slipped to 40%" and if a week later they drop another couple points we'll be told "Bush's approval ratings have dropped to an ALL-TIME low...40%".

Cheney and his cronies need to be sent to Gitmo or hanged because they willingly abetted treason, and helped Rumsfailed kill 100,000+ civilians and take over a country's oil fields.
