Air aMerica. That good, but I missed all the hard hitting questions about the funding scandel. Is that in the next interview?

Just curious re: "crashed computers" & "overheated equipment."
How many precincts in typically hot southern states are not air conditioned? I know quite a few from my state of Georgia are not air conditioned. Anybody who works with computers knows they do not work properly if overheated and will crash if they do overheat. AND many of them did on various election days here in Georgia, due to heat. Those votes were lost.
Are there some non-air conditioned precincts in hotter'n'hell Texas?
Tell me .. where is sanity? People - we must complain tirelessly and bitterly about this.
To put a delicate computer system in a non-climate-controlled environment and then give it the job of counting our precious votes is a crime and hopefully one day will be exposed as such.
It's like putting the cart before the horse. FIRST create the proper environment and then install the delicate machines. BUT ... with these neoCONS in charge we've come to expect BACKWARDS thinking.
I'm just addressing the utter stupidity of BOE officials who have allowed the installation of these delicate machines in inappropriate places. The issue of their proven hackability is yet another subject.

Brad, you are kicking butt! I'm so impressed with your dedication. This is exactly like Selma. And a WEDDING! Is Cindy gonna be the "best woman"? Or are you gonna be the "best man"?
You are doing our side a lot of good. I bet there's no one else like you on the other side.
Thank you so much for keeping us up to date. Love you and the other people there, please send our love!

I don't even see how reporters are going to be able to cover this storm down there. They won't be able to hang on to anything.

Hmmm.... this hurricane could have strategic ramifications. They've already evacuated the oil rigs in the Gulf of Texaco and the strategic petroleum reserve is located WHERE?? Why, it's located right near the mouth of the Mississippi! This has the potential to seriously cut into domestic oil reserve capacity and could push crude oil prices even higher still (not that oil prices are able to go down anymore anyways).

Urgently OT--
The city of New Orleans La. (pop. 494,000) occupies an area in a bowl-shaped depression, fully 10 feet (and more in some areas) below sea-level. The levees protecting the city from flooding seas were last compromised by a category 3 storm and it's expected that Katrina being a Category 5, will obliterate the levee system, flooding the city under several feet of water.
The storm surge is expected to bring up to 28 foot waves, coinciding with high tide, to the area. If the levee system breaks the resulting floodwaters would be a highly toxic mixture of industrial chemicals, raw sewage and petroleum products, killing everything and leaving the area uninhabitable. Up to 100,000 people are trapped in the city with no means of transportation to evacuate.
From the BBC news:
"Our three hundred year old home, which has been in our family since it was built, is located about 3/4 of a mile from a levee. We don't expect to see much of it when we return and that hurts. However our family, our pets, and our memories should be safe in the refuge we are heading to in Houston. I pray for those who could not find a way out of the city. I believe this will devastate the city I love with all my heart."
------
"Although the Mayor is telling the public to evacuate the city there are no planes, trains, buses or cars available to be had. Although the National Guard has been mobilised there are no plans to lay on any transport to evacuate those who do not have their own! The people now stranded in the city have no option but to wait for the hurricane to hit."
------
"If you are foolish enough to try and ride this storm out, please consider the 20-30 foot expected storm swell and the fact that it will coincide with high tide. Pick a place to shelter that is high enough that you won't drown, and strong enough that it won't collapse."
------
"The scene here looks like something from the apocalypse. People are running around the city, terrified about what to do. Those who are leaving have clogged the roadways so extensively that little hope remains for those who have not yet decided to leave. Gas stations are breeding grounds for fighting and riots, as people are resorting to a state of martial law in order to get the precious gasoline they need to move their vehicles. This truly is the worst part of the storm and it only looks to get worse. God be with everyone who is trying to escape the madness."
------
"Me and my friends are stuck in New Orleans and have no way of getting out! We were supposed to have a flight to New York on the 29th September but it has been cancelled and now there is a possibility that we cannot fly until the 1st September or even longer! All of the shops are putting boards up over their windows and most shops are closed by law. It is frustrating because we need water and food. we managed to find one shop and the prices were very expensive. We are not scared that we will get injured - just at the fact we cannot get out!"
------
The people of New Orleans need transportation and with no planes and trains being mobilized to assist them, well it's just common sense the life-threatening dangers they face.
Why aren't the airports jammed with jetliners evacuating these helpless people to higher ground? Why aren't the Amtrak passenger trains system in the city moving these people to safety? Why is our pResident out playing Golf today while 100,000 people are in harms way, facing almost certain death under most of the forecasted storm damage scenarios?
Why in the hell do we have a safety net like FEMA in place to handle these types of emergencies? For mopping up? WTF???

Hey Y'all!
Any chance of getting a thread going specifically for hurricane related stuff? This is gonna get really bad.
You folks from Louisiana and the Gulf area - let us know how it's going and what we can do to help.
Who still needs shelter and can get to north Alabama or middle Tennessee? Let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Sorry, Rick - won't work. A posted link unburies a thread. There is no issue - the facts refute the lies. Stop your whining now.

Aw.....#19 sounds like ScottFromCA is lonely.
Hey y'all, let's do the guy a favor - is Jeff Gannon still working?
Scotty - I think Jeff's most popular site was something like "militarystud4U.com" Just call the White House, I'm sure Karl's got it listed in his "favorites".
Maybe the OTHER Scotty's still got his number on speed-dial - can't hurt to ask! Hey, who knows, you might get lucky and find him crashing there again - better hurry though, I heard Bush is on his way back from Crawford soon, says he has a man-date.

Wow Brad, You were interviewed by a talk-show host who once "joked" about assassinating President Bush. I hope you're proud of yourself.
