American Legion threats

As you may have already heard, the Legion has stated they will use all means to clamp down on protestors.
I wanted to give you some links and a heads up about the American legion. My post has too many links: More than 10, so I’m unable to post the entire list of links and comments here.
I’ve outlined what they’re saying, their media strategy, some of their vulnerabilities, suggestions on how to get other views known, and who might be interested, both stateside and overseas. [More . . .]
American Legion is indirectly related to DoD and DoJ/JTTF in that former military personnel tend to cross flow back and forth. They’ve also been spotted in Nebraska intimidating ACLU officers when showing films related to the Patriot Act.

They had some problems with their "broadcast" computer today. But probably this problem with feed is due to the Big Guys (NBC &/or others) sucking up bandwith.
There should be a law that forbids companies from profitting from the sale of military hardware etc. in “a time of war”, in as much as they owe their existence to the host country in the first place. It is treasonous in a time of war to inflate the bottom line , they should only be allow “costs” and maybe a “Freedom Medal” .

Have you stopped to think that the reason this mother and kids thing has not caught on more is that most Units like the 75,000 National Guardsmen in Iraq now are mostly men aged 35-60 all volunteers. Maybe you should try the baby killer thing. That will teach them Joan.

The unit knew it would soon be shipped to the front. Some soldiers responded by deserting. Others got drunk and fought. In response, officers locked the unit in its barracks, allowing the troops out only to drill, not even to smoke a cigarette, until it could be put on the transport that would take it into combat.
It sounds as if I am describing some third echelon Soviet infantry regiment in, say, 1942. In fact, I am talking about the 1st Battalion of the 178th Field Artillery Regiment, South Carolina National Guard, in September 2004. According to a front-page story in the Sept. 19 Washington Post, the unit was disintegrating even before it was deployed to Iraq. One shudders to think what will happen once it gets there and finds itself under daily attack from skilled enemies it cannot identify.
One of the likely effects of the disastrous war in Iraq will be the destruction of an old American institution, the National Guard. Desperate for troops as the situation in Iraq deteriorates, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld is using the National Guard in a mission for which it was never intended: carrying on a "war of choice" halfway around the world. Most Guardsmen enlisted expecting to help their neighbors in natural disasters, or perhaps maintain order locally in the event of rioting. They never signed up for Vietnam II.
