It would also be going out live over there affiliates if all worked out well and Stock show to be on IBC 2. Well I am waiting on IBC 1 as soon as I hear the show I will send this message.

It’s a go! Loud and clear on IBC 1!!!!!

I was so confident I had this message ready to print!

Yo Brad! You The Man! Sounds great here in lonely Prague. What’s the noble cause? Indeed, what’s the real goal? Let’s ask the question until it’s answered! You go Brad! Like Red Sox Nation, Bradville’s 6 or 7 are spread far and wide. It doesn’t matter where in the world you live, duhbaya poses a lethal danger to each and every one of us. Please don’t let up – don’t let him pull any rope-a-dope! Let’s hog-tie them all, and right now!

Well – Brad is sounding refreshed after getting more than 40 minutes sleep last night!

This will be another history-making day as we listen to people whose voices have been effectively silenced over the past 5 (or more) years.

    GO BRAD GO!!!

Found this article at the Lone Star Iconoclast:

Horrific Moral Falsehoods Perpetrated Upon American People

[snip] … According to Dewey, every situation ought to be judged on the uniqueness of the situation itself. There are no moral absolutes as with religious dogma. Dr. Dewey was a pragmatist, a democratic humanist who ironically saw a need for religious faith as a control for the masses. With the war in Iraq, however, these opposing and seemingly contradictory statements seem to clash. What solves this moral paradox is the “intention result model” so common in philosophy. What was the intention of President Bush in ordering the invasion of Iraq? Now, what is the result of that intention?
Man is often corrupted by social forces, according to Reinhold Niebuhr. An infant sees light without absolutes in regard to moral reasoning. But after years of existence, the light turns dark as a shroud of social and cultural opinion arrest moral growth. Politicians by nature seek compromise whereas morality is uncompromising. Therefore, politicians are immoral. With regard to Iraq, perhaps the lowest level of moral stratification is reserved for those who seek only to democratize a sovereign state or prostitute its economy. Is this the morality of Christ?
In conclusion, there have been horrific moral falsehoods perpetrated upon the American people by an administration many rank lower than that of President Warren Harding. But, just like sex, Christ sells in our great land. Christ is absolute and his teachings have been used as weaponry against perception. We have bankrupted our nation in a moral sense since liquid seeks its own level. As French President Jacques Chirac has said, “Iraq is the biggest mistake in the two hundred plus year history of the United States.” And to that I say, oui, Monsieur le President. … [snip]

re #1 from Shmoopatties: The CNN show you are promoting is NOT telling you the truth. It represents an "intelligence meltdown" as an "honest mistake", but it wasn’t — it was a deliberate lie!

I was planning to write an item about this but for the past few days I’ve been too sick to blog … I promise I will write about it as soon as I can, but in the meantime please read Double Whammy: Fixing The Intelligence; Breaking The Agencies.

I’m loving the music again today. Oooo — here comes my fav from the movie "Chocolat."

It’s a very powerful movie for the times. Gives you a very close look at the mean power of fundamentalist religion — how it teaches its followers to fear joy & expression of any amorous feelings and to hate those who feel free enough to accept that part of ourselves as a gift from God.

    Was it Mimi Evans?

Mimi Evans of Hyannis, Mass., said, shortly after Cindy left the Vigil, "My son is deploying to Iraq within the next week, and I am here in Crawford because I have the same questions for the President as Cindy does. Just what is the noble cause for which my son is risking his life?"

"Military and Gold Star Families will remain in Crawford throughout the month or until we meet with President Bush. We hope Cindy can return here, but if she is unable to, we are determined to continue to uphold the call for a meeting and an end to the war. The questions Cindy has for President Bush are the same questions thousands of mothers and families across the country have," said State Sen. Becky Lourey of Kerrick, Minn., whose son Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Scott Lourey was killed in Iraq on May 27, 2005.

Members of Gold Star Families for Peace and Military Families Speak Out will speak at a press conference at 11:30 a.m today (Aug. 19) at Camp Casey in Crawford, Texas, featuring Mimi Evans, Becky Lourey, Michelle DeFord, Nadia McCaffrey and other Military and Gold Star Families.

Kira # 30 – Isn’t it amazing how the repubs claim that due to the upturn at the end of ’93 it is a sign that all of the progress from ’93-2000 was due to Bush #1’s economics and since there was a downturn at the end of 2000 the crash from 2000-2003 was due to Clinton?!

Listening in on White rose 2 – caught the end of the last interview – music now.

Was that Joan Baez the were talking about staying through the week?

Brad, Nice shot of you and Joan. Reminds me of a similar shot of myself and Buffy Saint Marie at a demonstration for iindian rights in Wisconsin in the late 60’s. Unfortunatly the photo was lost in a flood.

Amazon to sell novellas for 49 cents

Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. will allow shoppers to download exclusive short works from best-selling authors including Danielle Steel, creating a new digital marketplace for literature.

The works will include novellas and will be sold for 49 cents, the Seattle-based company said. Authors including Ann Beattie and James Lee Burke will produce works for sale on Amazon.

    [snip]

The site debuted with 64 works from 59 authors. Kessel said Amazon.com is in talks with more writers to add essays, unpublished book chapters and commentaries. The works average between 2,000 and 10,000 words.

"We know it’s a market that’s been around for hundreds of years that customers were always interested in," Kessel said in an interview. "But it was very restricted because of the economics of having to print them."

Danielle Steel, who has written 93 books, penned a 3,900-word essay about life titled "Candy for the Soul," while Mark Crispin Miller, a New York University media studies professor, has a 6,400-word piece about his views on President Bush’s administration.

Buyers can either read the work on the Web, download it as a PDF file or receive it as a plain-text email.

AMAZON SHORTS are never-before-seen short works from a wide variety of well-known authors, available only on Amazon.com. Try a new genre or a new author–there’s something for everyone. Amazon Shorts are:

    * New short-form literature from top authors for only 49 cents
    * Delivered electronically; there are no printed editions
    * Yours forever after purchase; save or print and read at your convenience

    # # #

I just bought a piece by Mark Crispin Miller –
    The State We’re In:
Bush/Cheney and the Specter of Theocracy
    ,
for 49 cents! It’s absolutely chilling.

This is an amazing service I think and gives us the opportunity to encourage authors to produce info for the masses without the filter of editors and publishers and the cost of dead trees. I wish I could share the M.C. Miller story I just got but I’m sure you won’t be able to access the website if I post the link…

So sorry I missed the show both yesterday and today. By the time I get home it seems to be over. 🙁

Yesterday afternoon the 30 or so rooled through Sacramento. All 8 cars full.

The local news showed them confronting a group of anti-war protesters. Most of the coverage, including a front page (Photo) in the Sacramento Bee newspaper, highlighted a local woman up in the face of an anti-war person screaming and yelling.

The Bee also report on another soldiers mom asking which side the 30 or so were on. The reply was "We’re the patriots – we support the president" the mom’s reply was "Then I think I’m on the wrong side"

They are now on their way to southern Ca. Arizona, New Mexico and plan to arrive in Crawford Saturday.

That’s because they blame the recession during Reagan and Bush Sr on Jimmy Carter but using their same logic I would say that Ford and Nixon were responsible for the crash that occured during Carter’s administration. I’ve heard the excuse that the economy changes every 7 years. If this was a fact as they claim it was Jimmy Carter couldn’t be blamed for the collapse during his administration. A quick way to shut them up is to mention that three Republican presidents in a row led to the stock market crash in the 20s.

Sharon Cohen of Sacramento arrived and walked toward a group of mothers on one side of the street.

"Which side is this?" Cohen asked.

"The pro-America side," said Gretchen Hass of Rocklin.

Cohen noticed the peace signs across the street and quipped:

    "Oh, I’m pro-America, but I think I’m over there."

Sorry, OT but this is vitally important.

I just got off the phone with the DNC in regards to past Chairman Andrews becoming a paid PR man for Diebold electronic voting machines.

Not only did the DNC NOT have a plan, each person I spoke with was rude and as sarcastic as hell, as if their time was being wasted.

I suggest others get on the phone or drop them an e-mail to show who’s side they are to be representing.

I guess past donations and support of all things necessary to lift the Democratic party only mean something to them when they feel it necessary.

Try to get this message out to as many people and boards as you can. We can’t allow e-voting hacks like Diebold to get any further foothold on our system of goverment.

Nice High Noon image, Colleen! If he just sat down with her, human to human, she would blow him the fuck away like a Texas tumbleweed, pardon my French. I always feel apologetic towards the poor French when I say that!

Just caught the last bit of that interview. The mother whose daughter was badly injured – and not medivac-ed out. She was in National Guard. They didn’t take care of her leg because they “needed” her. Now she can’t walk. She already had metal plates & screws in the leg. These are our NATIONAL GUARDS … they should be here if bu$h is really concerned about protecting the American people.

Now, just what was that agenda again, dubya?

    #135 Kira,
Oh yeah, they’re so concerned about protecting the homeland, HA! I guess that’s why they let the assault weapons ban elapse. What the hell was that?!
And now the word is they are going to relax restrictions on what items you’re allowed to bring on airplanes: razors are ok now, as are knives less than 5 inches long & "throwing stars"? Aren’t they pretty lethal?? Jeez.
I feel so much safer now. Thanks, George.

Sometime could you play a bit of Bob Dylan’s Masters of War?? GREAT song, especially under the circumstances…

Hey! Wasn’t he a good friend of Joan Baez’ back in the day?? (sooo…Joan…got his cell phone number??…can’t he come on down to Crawford too?? Please, Bob??)

    Ok, I figure I can dream a little…

Thanks Brad for another great show, and great words from all.

I hope that you will continue to interview vets, like Nicholas. What an eye-opener to hear that none of the "media" wanted to interview him during an event (sorry can’t remember which), only to interview the mothers. How cruel is this? Plenty, I think. We need to hear from both right now.

Our vets are NOT being supported or honored by Bush and the Bush administration. Bush talks about "supporting the troops" but these are empty words. Once men and women become "vets", not "troops" Bush no longer cares about them. If he really cared about them, then he’d cut his vacation short, and push for policies that truly honored our troops– medical care, medical insurance, and all that they need, including a real voice. It is heart-breaking.

Remember the Brad Show interview with Marine Sgt. RICHARD "R.J." MEEHAN on tour of duty in Iraq where he lost three fingers in an unarmored humvee and his meeting with George W. Bush in the hospital?
audio here. Meehan said during the interview that he was distressed that Bush had not called him by his military Marine rank (thus not honoring his accomplishments) and, when RJ told Bush that "maggot therapy" had helped save remaining parts, Bush’s response was "oh, yuk". What a callous response.

Sorry to have gone on so long here, but if anyone out there buys into the idea that Bush is actually "supporting our troops" they need to take a much much closer look at Bush’s propaganda.

VG — don’t worry about going on so long! We’re starved to hear these things. You are 100% right and we need to remind the pro-war folks of this. Especially the ones who are bad-mouthing Cindy & the rest of us who support her cause.

Keep making that noise! It’s great.

VG — you could write up a 1 or 2 pager for the Whispering Campaign on that subject. Great stuff.

When we join together and withhold our purchases from some targeted Republican contributors we can wield power that will force the executives of these Republican contributors to go to the Republican party do our agenda.
Now, the agenda written below does not address everything but you can choose a big company that gives aid and comfort to the Republican Party and demand that their executives get the Republican Party to do what you want. You can excercise this power every day and you can get other people to join and exercise this power every day. What company executive would want thousands of people demanding a set of progressive agenda, every day with a legal threat of losing your business? Join me and I promise you a peaceful revolution. No need to go out in the streets, no need for first amendment zones, no arrests. You create a no buy zone for some selected Republican contributors such as Walmart, etc. Join me, please.

A political message from the Revolution for progressive legislation.

Here’s how we force congress to pass a progressive agenda. Companies do not like boycotts. I suggest you email these demands to Walmart, Wendy’s, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Curves for Women health clubs, each big Republican contributors. Also include Eckerd, CVS, and Walgreens Pharmacy chains. You can send this to other companies as well.

Send this email to your friends and to others on political mailing lists. Thank you.

Send this text in email or fax to a company you can afford to boycott which either heavily supports Republicans or should know better that we need progressive legislative change.

We demand that your company executives get the Republican Party to hold a press conference and accede to these demands and then finally legislate and sign these into law. Until such a press conference happens and the legislation gets passed I will boycott your products.

We demand that the Republican party end their aggressive and hateful action to end a woman’s right to choose abortion or not.

We demand the resignation of Tom Delay.

We demand that the United States withdraw from Iraq.

We demand that the Congress of the United states and the president of the United States enact a law to increase the minimum wage to TEN dollars an hour and also to extend unemployment benefits for all people whose unemployment benefits expired after 6 months even though they still seek work.

We also demand that the Congress of the United States to not privatize social security benefits in any form including taking a percentage of the social security tax and placing it in private accounts. People can already create their own pensions with money after taxes in the private sector.

We also demand that the congress make all of a person’s earned income taxable for social security FICA tax purposes and remove the 88,000 dollar salary cap. This will make social security solvent for many years to come.

We demand the congress increase the payroll tax in order to make social security solvent as well.

We also demand congress and the president enact a prescription drug benefit under Medicare Part B which covers 80 percent of medication cost, with no extra premium, no extra deductibles, no means test and no coverage gaps, and no penalties for signing up in a succeeding year..

We also call for the complete repeal of the faulty Medicare law HR 1 / S 1 passed by congress in Nov 2003.

We also demand vote by mail throughout the United States of America. This will prevent Republicans from vote suppression by skin color which happened electronicly and in person in the 2000 and 2004 elections. Demand that your state implement vote by mail with ballots easy to fill out and difficult to change or invalidate by Republican Party officials.

We demand Civil servants on every state payroll should keep track of voter registrations and vote counting of mail in votes in each precinct and not companies such as Choicepoint. We need to take the Republican Party out of the business of keeping track of voter registration and counting votes.

We demand States ban the secretary of state from engaging in politics especially acting as a campaign official for a presidential campaign.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

We do this in the spirit of peaceful resistance to a congress that refuses to enact this legislation

    ——————–

To each person reading this if you agree with my message please tell your friends and have them tell their friends.

We can stop the war in Iraq by boycotting the defense contractor General Electric corporation.

I want each and every person who wants to stop the War in Iraq to contact the defense contractor General Electric. Go to http://www.ge.com and send them email to the effect that you have decided

not to buy any GE products including Ovens, stoves, refrigerators, light bulbs, televisions, radios, telephones, video recorders, dvd recorders and players, etc.

UNTIL their company executives get the President of the United States aka THE CHIMP to hold a press conference announcing that he will withdraw all US Troops from Iraq, to get replaced by UN troops to defend Iraq until Iraq troops can defend their own country.

In addition to sending email from the web site you can make these demands of GE through their public relations officials. Please act polite when contacting them.
