WHY are they still so politely asking "Is this memo true, is this information accurate"?? Do they seriously expect a truthful answer??
Re IMPEACHMENT: to hell with the lame excuse "there aren't enough votes to convict so we can't impeach"! There weren't enough votes to convict Clinton & they went ahead with impeachment anyway.
The dems are tip-toeing as usual, it seems to me.
Impeachment is built into our legal system and there is MORE THAN AMPLE REASON TO USE IT AT THIS POINT!! Jesus, what will it take?? How many more rules & laws do they need to thumb their noses at before democrats DEMAND articles of impeachment? How far down in the mud will they allow their country to be dragged???!!!

my letter to Walter Pincus (pincusw@washpost.com) of the Washington Post about his Blair memo article, burried on page A18.
WaPo article:
http://www.washingtonpos.../12/AR2005051201857.html
My letter:
This memo was published 5/1/05 in the British Sunday Times. Why did it take 12 DAYS for the Washington Post to cover this on page A18? Around 5/3/05, I found reports of interviews with Tony Blair where he acknowledged the contents of the memo. The information is undisputed. Bush lied us into Iraq. This is the definition of NEWS and it is your job to report. You can't claim that it took time to investigate this - everything was already done for you almost 10 days ago. You can't claim you were verifying sources - they were already verified. Is it your job to report the truth? Or to protect a President who lied to send our soldiers to their deaths for an optional war?
The content of the article was not bad, but the title was a slap in the face to every relative of a soldier that died for Bush's lies.
A better title would have been "Smoking gun document of undisputed authenticity proves Bush lied to Congress, America and the World"
The fact that it took 12 DAYS for the WaPo to cover this, and have it buried on A18 with a terrible title is un-fucking believable. No wonder investigative liberal blogs are so much better than your print paper. I had the truth reported to me accurately on 5/2/05, by people motivated to spread the truth, people who volunteer to do this, who get paid nothing.

Perhaps 6 or 7 might write to the MSM and anyone else, to answer the simple question on:
What should Americans do about the Bush administration and the UK war memo?
IMPEACH NOW, IMPEACH NOW, IMPEACH NOW, IMPEACH NOW, IMPEACH NOW, IMPEACH NOW!!
P.S. great letter Bejammin075!

Thanks Peggy.
I'm steamed about the MSM coverage on this. They go days and days without covering it, so that nobody has the information, then they grudgingly write a burried article and say things like there's not much US reaction to the information, so it's not important or nothing new or no one cares. Well, fuck that. We do care. But caring requires being informed. You can't care about what you don't know about. You can't impeach a lying President if you hide the lies that lead us to war.
No more Death for Lies.

ssssssttt! Too Hot To Handle! Thank you for putting my sentiments exactly into words & sending the letter to the WaPo. They have missed, misled and mis-informed too many times since the neoCONs started taking power in the '80s & through the '90s --- I noticed their increased neocon slant during the ridiculous impeachment of Clinton.
We see you MSM!!! We don't listen to you or read your stories for education anymore. You're worthless. If you ever decide to print the truth again, we'll pay for your services, but until then --- NOT ONE DAMN DIME.

Back to Conyers--There's a very recent post on BBV where Bev points out that Michigan has been the most obstructive of any state in terms of FOI requests (e.g., asking for $125,000, 50% paid up front, just to look but not even to provide any documents; other states typically charge only a few thousand dollars to cover the photocopying costs). Bev has discussed this with Conyer's staff--but has received no assistance. As a result, there is no way to audit any of the Diebold optical scan devices used in Rep. Conyer's district. Plus, documents show that Michigan election officials are playing fast and loose with their own state laws about how long they have to hang onto documents, in order to avoid any chance of having to show them to anyone. This is really ugly stuff.
Bev Harris suggests that Conyers fans should bring up these issues with him.
I agree. No one should be exempt from answering the tough questions. If Rep. Conyers speaks out about election reform, but then allows a cover-up in his own district and state, that does not inspire confidence.
Let's give him a chance to put this right. Maybe 6 or 7 polite letters from Brad bloggers (maybe including one from Brad himself) would be in order, requesting him to ensure election reform and transparency in his own district by 1) cooperating to allow auditing of his district's Diebold optical scan machines, 2) asking him to put pressure on his State Board of Elections to promptly comply with FOI request with costs that are in line with those required by other states, and 3) ask that he put pressure on his State Board of Elections to ensure they keep all ballots for the mandatory 22 months specified by state regulations, and that these ballots be made available for public scrutiny if requested.
If Rep. Conyers is not willing to take the necessary initiative to create change in his own district and his own state, or if he makes excuses about why he can do nothing, then that would speak volumes. If he does take action and produces results, that too would speak volumes. This is the kind of "speech" that matters most--actions, not words. It is important for us to discover where Rep. Conyers stands, and whether or not he is for real when he talks about election reform.
The recent post on BBV that outlines the Michigan obstructiveness (including documents from one of the key election officials) is at http://www.bbvforums.org...html?1116024055#POST6711
