The defeat of CA Proposition 15 (Clean Money elections) has left this 60 yr old native Californian in a foul mood. For those that don't know, Prop 15 was an extremely modest pilot program that slated the single election campaign of SOS for voluntary public funding paid for by fees on lobbyists. One teeny tiny trial balloon.
This state has gone downhill fast and far during the second half of my life (post Prop 13). The level of stupidity and corporate tit sucking is beyond belief. I can't wait until the girlfriend retires so I move. Question is, where?

Sorry, somehow my comment got deleted. I meant to post, in answer to your "Where" question is:
New Zealand. It's considered to be the most progressive country in the world, technologically advanced, high standard of living, one of the "greenest" nations on the planet, and a cultural tradition that is easy-going and egalitarian.
No nation is perfect, but I believe New Zealanders will be enjoying extensive rights, liberties, and freedoms long after America finishes its on-going transition to becoming "Amerika." Believe me, if I had the money and/or was young enough and had the tech skills New Zealand wants its emigrants to have so that I could get a visa, I'd move there tomorrow.

On a brighter note, since I could use one, it looks like the hideously deceptive Prop 16 failed at least.
So there's that.
(And one other piece of fun news, but I'll hold that for later, when I can enjoy it a bit more.)

New Zealand? Yeah, that would be beautiful. I love the mountains and I have the tech skills (molecular biology), but I doubt they'd want someone my age.
Back to CA politics, if you have Mercury auto insurance, the patron of the evil Prop 17, switch as soon as you can. I am.

These cliches come to mind as captions:
A) Take me to your leader.
B) Friends don't let friends drive drunk.
About New Zealand,
I came across this website a little while ago hunting for something unrelated. They seem a bit, you know, out there, but they have a fascinating and disturbing collection of articles about various topics. I haven't had time to evaluate them at all critically. In any case, they definitely don't like New Zealand.
