In a statement today, Tova Wang of the Century Foundation says in part:
Over the last few weeks, there has been a developing controversy in the press and in the Congress over a report on voter fraud and voter intimidation I co-authored for the Election Assistance Commission (“EAC”). It has been my desire to participate in this discussion and share my experience as a researcher, expert and co-author of the report. Unfortunately, the EAC has barred me from speaking. Early last week, through my attorney, I sent a letter to the Commission requesting that they release me from this gag order. Despite repeated follow-up, the EAC has failed to respond to this simple request. In the meantime, not only can I not speak to the press or public — it is unclear under the terms of my contract with the EAC whether I can even answer questions from members of Congress.

The vote on HR 1591, a.k.a. “Conference Report; U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, 2007” was 51-46 in the Senate.
Getting rid of the idiotic war is difficult, so cleaning up the defective EAC will be too.
The lemming like adhesion to bad policy on the part of the congressional republicans … 98% of them voted against making Iraqis preeminent in Iraqi combat while shutting down US participation in their civil war over the next year or so. Those republicans want the US to be the main shooters, contrary to the will of most Americans.
If you are considering voting against the war again in ’08, here are those who voted for no end to the idiotic war:
(The vote). McCain did not vote but is for the idiotic war he calls “a great tragedy“. Which presumably he would continue if elected president. Senator Graham didn’t vote this time, but he is for continuing the idiotic war.
Two republican senators voted against the idiotic war (Hagel and Smith).
The most important single vote on the idiotic war will be made by one who holds the war near to his heart.
His theory is: 1 > 218 + 51
Sounds like EAC type voodoo math to me.
