EXCLUSIVE: Unredacted Death Threat Letter to Stephanie Miller

Miller Calls America-Loving Wingnut On Air, Man Claims Letter Wasn't a Threat... [UPDATE: Audio of Phone Call to Man Now Included!]

Share article:

A man from Centerville, Ohio, identifying himself as “Sock” Sokolowski has sent a death threat to radio host Stephanie Miller after her recent appearance on Fox “News'” Hannity & Colmes.

The BRAD BLOG has obtained a copy of Sokolowski’s profanity-laced letter which includes a closing salutation claiming that he is “From the right ‘Right'”. The letter is posted, unredacted and in full at the end of this article.

On her popular Stephanie Miller Show this morning, the radio host telephoned “Sock” — who included his address and phone number with the letter — to confront him live and on air about the letter.

UPDATE:
— You can now listen to this morning’s phone call here [MP3].
— The video of Miller’s
H&C appearance that began the whole “kerfuffle”, as producer Chris Lavoie just described it to us, is here on Youtube. BTW, in this appearance Miller brilliantly says to Colmes: “It’s called journalism, Fox News should try it sometime.”

Despite numerous clear threats in the letter, Sokolowski — who opens his missive by writing “As with Cindy Sheehan the best thing that could happen to you would be seeing some WONDERFUL activist sticking an AK-47 up your Glory Holes and sending you into eternity” — claimed several times during the phone call that he didn’t threaten Miller in the letter.

Writing that “I am a paci-fist [sic]”, Sokolowski typed “this is not a threat”. He then went on to write that he hopes and prays “that someone decides you’re better off as statistics.”

“Honestly,” the letter continues, referring to both the radio host and Sheehan, who lost her son in the War on Iraq, “should I hear of either you leaving this earth prematurely I would initiate a personal celebration that would make Animal House appear to be just another quiet Sunday in church.”

Promising to to mail copies of Miller’s H&C appearance to “some WONDERFUL people,” Sokolowski threatens that “we must identify this nation’s enemies and though we keep friends close, we MUST keep our enemies even closer and you two vile bitches are just that.”

Referring to both women as “mother fuckers,” Sokolowski writes that he hopes for further exposure for both Miller and Sheehan on “TV shows…as GUARANTEED your words will someday possibly accelerate your demise.”

He concludes the note by explaining that he “would love to celebrate and would for days on end as I would and will when still another America HATER meets his/her maker.”

The Stephanie Miller Show has said that they will be posting now posted a profanity-free version of the letter in the Daily blog section of StephanieMiller.com. The BRAD BLOG, however, is happy to post the entire unredacted letter below, exclusively and in full. Only the phone number and address have been removed…

FURTHER UPDATE BEFORE THE LETTER 12:50pm PT: It looks like our man “Sock” is a rather prolific letter writer. Former CIA man Larry Johnson of NoQuarter has identified this man and posted another letter which “Sock” apparently sent to a local newspaper. Given the text of his letter to Miller, this passage from his railing for the importance of “conservatism” in America, strikes at our irony bone:

As proven in the Bush v. Kerry presidential race, [Americans] want the candidates to offer their agenda for the nation rather than simply hate and venom for the opposition. They want to consider alternatives on a range of issues, but all the left offered was a hatred toward our president.

Moreover, KamaAina at DU has located another laugher of letter from “Sock” to the Dayton City Paper from last year, headlined “CONSERVATISM IS WINNING THE WAR”. That commentary calls for, among other things, the ascendency of George “Makaka” Allen and Condi Rice as our next President and VP.

Here now, “Sock’s” not at all “hate and venom” filled death threat to Stephanie Miller in full…

This definitely sounds like something for the authorities. Stephanie should not take this lightly.
Like the powder found at Clinton’s office, this should be looked into. These Right-Wing nuts are seriously disturbed.

Yes, Stephanie needs to call the police about this. This is a threat. Thanks for reproducing the letter, Brad.

This guy is clearly whacked out.

I saw her FOX appearance, I didn’t see anything in what she said that should inspire such hate. But then again I’m not a right wing nut.

one reason I see this wingnut not getting in trouble with the authorities is because they condone this sort of crap. Way to go Stephanie! I for one would be interested to see what happens to these reichwingers when they realize they gave liberals the means to take them down ‘with extreme prejudice’

Well, the “SS” (secret service) is busy questioning 14 year old schoolgirls and teachers for things way less blatant than this. Has the SS questioned this guy? Maybe that 14 year old girl should’ve threatened someone with an AL-47, and then they wouldn’t have questioned her! Has “Sock” seen the “SS” in the same timeframe the “SS” got to that 14 year old girl?

If “Sock” signed his letter, “Little 14 year old girl”, then maybe it would have been perceived as a “death threat”!

Sokolowski…? Is that Polish? Do you suppose any of this mans relatives were in Poland when Hitler invaded Poland? Certainly gives a good argument for unchecked immigration…doesn’t it? He says he’s a Pacifist..? I wonder he has that mixed up with Fascist…maybe his people were with Hitler? Or maybe he is just a plain old garden variety “skinhead”, Rascist…? Whatever, he sounds dangerous, a little unbalanced, and decidedly UnAmerican…we, those who believe in Democracy welcome honest debate and differing opions with out violence…thats AMERICAN values!!

I live in southern Ohio and it does not surprise me that there are idiots like Sock out here. There are people here who would vote for anyone or anything as long as there was an “R” after his or her or its name. This idiot is representative of Hannity’s listeners/viewers. The law should indeed pay “Sock” a visit; his letter looks like a death threat toward Miller.
Sock doesn’t have the guts to confront local liberals like me who are actually in arms’ reach of him; he’s a spineless moron.

    pacifist

adj : opposed to war [syn: pacifist(a), pacifistic, dovish] n : someone opposed to violence as a means of settling disputes [syn: pacificist, disarmer]

Sock is a pacifist like Charles Manson was a pacifist, rallying others to do their dirty work. I think Sock needs to look up the definition, don’t you?

My favorite thing was when Stephanie confronted him with this letter of his on the air he denied that he said half the things he said in the letter. When she persisted and read his words back to him he terminated the call in a huff. Kinda reminds of George “I never said ‘stay the course’ much” Bush. Looks like a couple of posts here alerted people to Malloy’s resurgence already. I usually read all the posts before weighing in, but it was getting close to showtime!

So let’s all listen to Mike to get our blood boiling and use the energy to get out there and tell people to VOTE LIKE YOU’VE NEVER VOTED BEFORE!

Stand in the line of angry people at the polls who have never had to wait in line to vote before and will be mad as hell at Diebold because of it. Get them riled up, BUT NOT AT THE POLLWORKERS! It’s not the poor 80-year-old poll worker’s fault, IT IS DIEBOLD, ES&S, AND SEQUOIA’S FUCKING FAULT!

If you’re a BradBlog reader, you’ll have plenty of verbal ammo to TRASH the creators of the worst election in American history. LET IT FLY! You’ll have plenty of time while in line.

Otherwise, do as I am going to do, and get an authorization to be a poll watcher from your party headquarters and log or photograph all of the problems that occur at your polling location!

The point of my post (#39) was to state that liberal blogs don’t threaten people or post their personal information, even if we know it.
Bradblog, if you’re going to redact my statement (don’t know why it — post #39 — needed redacting since I didn’t post any of Sock’s personal info), then at least leave the point of said post. Otherwise, delete the entire post. When you leave “I found this person . . . just wanted to see if I could” without the context of that statement, then it sounds like a threat, and I AM NOT making any threat to this poor misled soul. Please delete the entire post or post the whole thing. Thanks.

Wow, there are some crazy people out there, who spend waaaaaaay too much time listening to right wing radio. These people are stuck in their own little world with no regards to what is really out there. It’s really pretty sad, but also dangerous. When some of these nutjobs actually start acting on their thoughts then it will be tragic. And I really hope that Mr. Socks realizes that some on the left feel that guys like him are the ones that are unpatriotic fools, letting our country be bought and sold to the highest corporate bidder by the right.

There is a certain Florian Sokolowski who wrote at least one REALLY wacky letter to the editor of Dayton Daily News…

“Democrats, liberals, progressives, leftists, whatever they wish to be called, view a glass as half empty and wallow in negativity and pessimism while Republicans, conservatives, rightists, our preferred designations, see a glass as half full and look for positivity and optimism, a distinction that becomes obvious when comparing the dual agendas of our parties.” — Florian Sokolowski

However, please be careful NOT to misidentify the guy – Sokolowski is a common Polish name, and I would expect quite a few people by this name to live in Ohio.

Glen Beck said this, (word for word) on his radio show, (I’m not kidding):

“Hey, let me just tell you what I’m thinking. I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore. And I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it?

    I think I could!

I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could be choking the life out of him.”

So I’m thinking this guy is just trying to land a show on CNN.

CNN did let Stephanie Miller come on the Larry King show where she said the voting machines seemed to be giving victories to the republicans.

The guy from America Blog wasn’t willing to go that far and said the machines were doing crazy things, but it seemed to be benefiting both parties. Really?

Stephanie’s statement may have jostled David Gergen into admitting that the machines may put the election in doubt and be bad for the country, but admitted he wasn’t very informed about the issue. Really?

Mr. Gergen also said that Air America was doing badly because Americans don’t like liberal radio. Really?

It has nothing to do with MONEY AND POWER, huh David?

Thanks for giving Larry’s show some credibility again Stephanie! It’s not his fault he had to cover stupid stories since the O. J. thing!

This guy is an absolute NUT, to say the least. I was thinking about something funny after reading the letter, if that is possible. I was thinking about the nickname that he left. How unique. Is this what he was constantly getting stuck in his mouth during his elementary school and junior high school days when he couldn’t keep his mouth shut? Or, was this the object he put in his pants in High School when the girls would look the other way when his vulgar mouth and girl hating attitude preceded his attempts to ask a female to the prom? I am only assuming this is what he uses to impress the ladies to this day, since that is “still” the nickname of choice that he uses. Makes one wonder doesn’t it? I know nothing of Stephanie Miller, but I believe that this type of threat is uncalled for and I would be willing to stand up for the lady. I have always admired Cindy Sheehan, or anybody for that matter who has lost a child in a war and is able to still function. I would have gone insane the moment that they told me that my child had been killed. There are always going to be those of us that oppose the war in Iraq and those of us that do not. Just like world war 2 and vietnam. But, shouldn’t we keep these opinions to ourselves if we cannot control our tempers and start killing anybody that opposes our viewpoint? That is not a free country, when you are going to kill all of the people who disagree with you, SOCK!
That is a dictatorship. You have to be willing to scream your opinion out in public and then let somebody else exercise their right to oppose it at the top of their lungs in public as well. Without the fear of retaliation. That is free speech and a free country. That is where we are supposed to be living, isn’t it Sock? Why are you not over there fighting anyway, instead of bashing those who are simply expressing their rights that our fighting boys are over there protecting, free speech. So, in closing, take the sock out of your mouth, out of your pants, and untie it from around your eyes and shut up, or go over to iraq and step on a mine for one of our fine boys, who unfortunately will, but will do it gladly for the service of their country. I am sure that Cindy and Stephanie wouldn’t lower their selves to say that kind of thing to you, but I will. Put up or shut up time Sock.

    Sincerly,

    Jeff from Oklahoma

What I find most disturbing is that wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt or having an anti-Bush bumper sticker on your car will get the cops’ attention, but they don’t react to right-wing death threats. They’ve put earth and animal rights people on the FBI’s list as “eco-terrorists,” but they can’t find bin Laden or the anthrax killer.

The right dominates the media with hate and venom, but when the left gets a chance to say something reasonable and sensible, they get death threats.

Me, I’m hoping for the collapse of the dollar and a total economic breakdown. I don’t see any other hope of changing the direction this country’s going. With Bush able to use his signing statements to nullify legislation, and having veto power, even a Democratic sweep this election won’t change anything, as they’ve pledged not to try to impeach him. Plus a Democratic “win” would restore public confidence in easily-hacked voting machines long enough for them to be used in ’08 to install yet another dictator. I fear for my country.

As usual, Stephanie Miller Rocked! Her phone call to this creep was a combination class act and sharply hilarious. More power to her! Her show is awesome and I couldn’t face the day (esp these days) without it! I do hope that the FBI thoroughly investigates this worm.
I do believe that Ol’ Sock is a shining example of a Bushite and Fox network fan- a hate-mongering, lying, blasphemer who thinks he’s “right” and that anyone he disagrees with should die.

First off: This guy probably has a monsterous crush on Steph and is ultimately frustrated that she wont give him the time of day. He did give her his phone number! Second, this individual was overstepping the bounds of free speech. I can’t believe he generalizes people that aren’t in tune with his views as American Enemies. I guess the best way to retort to someone when you have some inferiority complex is to threaten to kill them. If you read it, he PRAYS for death! I thought right-wingo Daffy Ducks like him meander in peoples business and save little blastocysts from abortionists? Hypocrite. What makes me sick is he is probably one of these twisted religious looney tunes and probably went to church and prayed for his sins, and he believes he will automatically be passed over by his God even after writing such garbage. Let it be said: Jerk off Socko Style Republicans can always get away with making death threats to “Liberal America Haters”. It never seems to work the other way around. It is because the right wing political ideology is “so patriotic” and will always know what is best for this country!? What makes this idiot any different than these extremist wackos in the middle east? So for Mr SockofShit: You sir, can PRAY all you want for the demise of Stephanie, Cindy and people who practice freedom, and maybe Jesus will answer your weak, feeble conscience. In the meantime go drool over your Man Coulter lingerie pics and shove your religious rhetorical dogma up your filthy, slandering, fascist ass, OR put on a uniform and fly your ass to Iraq and serve your country just like a LIBERAL libertarian such as myself is doing. PLEASE, don’t retire yet! The Army accepts people in their 40’s now, Mr No-nuts. You are another instance of what it feels like to get screwed doggy style by a fat elephant. Honestly, don’t forget to go fuck yourself.

Obviously a nut-job, but that shouldn’t make anyone take what he’s saying lightly. Timothy McVey was just such a nut-job and look what he did.

It really hurts my heart that a country as great as America can breed such a person or people just like this person, and then it also breeds people like the Amish that forgave their attacker within hours after he killed some of their girl children. Unbelieveable and so terribly sad. Don’t you think? That we could have people like these that live here? That there could be such hate and such forgiveness all living right here beside you and I?

I realize that’s what makes this country great, that we can allow so many people to believe what they believe and actually speak in public what they believe. But it still really hurts my heart that such hate exists in our great country or in our world for that matter. And that the right-wing radio shows aggravate and inflame such hate.

I’ll pray for that man, that someday he wakes up and see’s the light and that he’s able to forgive himself because the person all that terrible hatred hurts the most, is him.

We know this guy in Sarasota. He has sent virtually identical letters to anyone daring to write a progressive thought to the local paper. The police has “spoken” with him, and, if memory serves, he was even visited by the Secret Service after a letter sent to Bill Clinton. The police feel he has been coached as to the line he cannot cross in his letters, however his intent is clearly to threaten and intimidate those who express liberal opinions in order to squelch their speech. I wrote up an official complaint on him after receiving numerous letters much like Stephanie’s. I figure it is good to have a paper trail on pervs like this.

On the other hand, he is a pathetic old fart who sits around writing these absurd rants most of the day. Heck of a way to spend your retirement.

Why is it fans of FOX and Bush are in need of spell checkers?

I love how he espouses his first amendment rights, but threatens her with death when she practices her 1st amendment rights. I guess the words ‘double standards’ and ‘hypocrite’ aren’t in his lexicon?

Letter should be submitted to the police, as he is advocating violence, and is inciting to violence by threatening to mail it off to like minded persons.

“Sock” is an old (about 70) retired fellow who has obviously taken to watching too much TV. He has a couple of grown children, Suzanne and Cynthia, and a wife, Maryanne.

Rather than talking with “Sock,” who I presume has lost his mind to a certain degree, maybe let the adult kids know that dear old dad is writing sexual obscenity-filled death threats to women he doesn’t know and never met!

If my dad, who is in his eighties, started doing such things I would certainly want to know about it. I would explain to him why it isn’t proper for a man to write notes to a woman he doesn’t know expressing a longing to shove an AK-47 up her “glory hole.” Not under any circumstances. And certainly not because he is angry at the TV.

The politics of Florian “Sock” Sokolowski or Stephanie Miller strikes me as beside the point. The point is “Sock” is a grown man who is writing notes to a strange woman that call for her death and expresses his desire to see her with an AK-47 stuck up her glory hole. That sort of thing is wrong on its face.

I don’t see where the patriotism, or the love of country, or the foreign policy preferences of the man or woman involved mean anything. Does “Sock” think he has a reason for doing the things he does? Of course, everyone has reasons. Lunatics have reasons, but that doesn’t mean we should go bonkers ourselves and talk about their lunatic reasoning as though it made sense.

I say screw his reasons. They don’t make sense. His adult children should talk to him about how to conduct himself. At the least they should take away his TV until he shows he can handle watching it.

Fred said on 11/3/2006 @ 3:25pm PT: [Permalink]

Robert, so you think “Sock’s” glass is more than half full day in and day out? Well, that would explain things. A lot of old guys take to drink when they retire. It is, after all, very odd for a man of his age to be writing such things to a woman that is his daughter’s age.

Did you notice that Stephanie had to read the letter to him? Also, he said a couple of times that it sounded like something he might write? Clearly he didn’t quite remember writing it. So yeah, maybe he gets himself tanked and goes off the deep end.
