BRAD
Remember the old proverb:
"One hand washes the other."
We are all in this bath party together.

From the Miriam Raftery article:
"...Busby’s hesitancy to make waves sparked criticism from Friedman. “Beating John Kerry for the speed concession department is not something we should be proud of,” he said..."
Good choice of words, Brad!!
Has Busby STILL not "made waves"??? Or is it she who will file the request for a count that Raw Story says will likely happen tomorrow?

re #9, #11 ... yeah, Jimi Hendrix was not only a fabulous guitarist (who literally redefined the limits of the instrument --- and the national anthem!) but also a really lovely guy, if not the sweetest-tempered rock star who ever walked then certainly one of the top few. His death in September of 1970 cut short what would no doubt have been a fabulous career. Perhaps even more important than his music may have been his influence on race relations. He was in a unique position: a mixed-race performer who fronted a mixed-race band and drew mixed-race audiences. Let's just say: Those of us who miss him, miss him a lot.

Thanks 99. I went back and watched Jimi.
Oh ya!
I've played on 3 records with Jimi's pal and bassman (and my friend) Billy Cox; so I love re-experiencing Hendrix stuff.
Hendrix was here in Nashville the first time he started really playing in public. He hung out with and played with a bunch of the musicians I work with now...
Hope all y'all had a great 4th. You are the real patriots.

If they don't play these songs from "Electric Ladyland" in heaven, I don't wanna go!
1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)
Voodoo Chile
Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)
No wonder Jimi influenced so much of the great music of the time, including the Jimmy Page!

#16 Larry Berman - I remember reading somewhere that the story 1984 may have inspired him to write 1983.

I was wondering about that. I heard they're working on a new movie version of 1984, I think Tim Robbins has something to do with it (troublemaker). Should be good!
The voting machines seemed to start screwing up around 1984, maybe Brad's Townhall meetings can fulfil the mission of the story, and bring about a true "Morning in America" instead of a "Mourning in America" resulting from a lost dream of democracy!
Since this Blog seems to accommodate people who are not cowards, afraid of Arabs, you want to take another trip down memory lane to a time of hope. Go get a copy of a DVD released in 2004 of a concert tour in 1976 by Cat Stevens, (now Yusuf Islam), Called "Majikat, Earth Tour 1976". The sound quality is great and although "Cat" is a little arrogant, (you would be too if you had acheived that kind of fame in your mid-twenties) I guarantee satisfaction! Also some recent reflections and story's from current day Yusuf.
About a year ago, when he was flying into the United States, he was detained at an airport for being on a terrorist list. God help us "free and brave" Americans!
You're welcome in my home anytime Mr. Islam!
