The rhetoric is escalating in Arizona and a hearing will follow soon. Maricopa County may be the ‘poster child’ for election fraud and it’s not something that will be fixed by voter ID cards. The California SoS seems to have taken a hard-line against the Registrars as he has told them that he won’t just certify voting systems to make them happy. And to keep with today’s emphasis on the Southwest corner of the country, New Mexico’s governor has pledged $11M for a new, paper-based voting system….

Talk about putting your foot in your mouth, New Orleans Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin made some seriously bigoted and racist comments yesterday at a MLK rally in New Orleans. Does anyone else think this guy is a Black Supremecist. He should have to step down and resign his position for these comments.

Secretary of State Brewer, you need to stop working for the neocons!!!!!
That is ENOUGH. Stop taking the Abramoff money, or we’re going to force this back to court and have you indicted!
"We all—Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc., all patriots who care about our democracy—were labeled by Arizona’s Secretary of State (remember Jan, Republican, co-chair of the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2004 . . . sound familiar?) as “anarchists” when we demonstrated to protest her purchase of Diebold DRE (Direct Recording Electronic) touch screen voting machines. When presented with the mountains of evidence, data, and reports that electronic voting machines have massive security problems she smeared us as “conspiracy theorists.” What Secretary Brewer chooses to ignore are facts. The United States Government Accountability Office report, Federal Efforts to Improve Security and Reliability of Electronic Voting Systems Are Under Way, but Key Activities Need to Be Completed, http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d05956.pdf states that the security of electronic voting machines have not and cannot currently be assured. Secretary Brewer’s head in the sand approach to governance ignores the multiple public demonstrations that Diebold, ES&S, Sequoia, or whatever electronic voting machine you can name can be hacked and votes switched, stolen, lost, or destroyed (www.blackboxvoting.org or http://www.VoteTrustUSA.org or http://www.VotersUnite.org) and that the Diebold DRE machines don’t even meet HAVA standards (Myth Breakers: Facts About Electronic Elections, http://www.VotersUnite.Org/MB2.pdf). She doesn’t consider the fact that Diebold DRE machines have been decertified in California, New Mexico, Connecticut, North Carolina, and Florida where even Gov. Jeb Bush (R) has called for a reevaluation of voting machines."
Jan Brewer, this is totally stupid behavior. Quit this ridiculous stonewalling or its going to go to court. "By the gods" is that what the neocons have fed you now, to thinky ou are "god like" or some bullshit??? Give it up Brewer, same thing for Wisconsin. The time of the DRE voting machine is at its end!!

Today the California registrars are holding a hearing at the state capitol. Among the proposals is 100% mail in ballots as used in Oregon.
Our local progressive radio staion Talk Radio 1240 is holding a rally at the capitol in support of this measure.
This action is being spearheaded by State Senator Debra Bowen.

To #3: I hope they don’t end up in some trash bag somewhere! If someone wants to rig an election, they will think of a way! The people counting votes, who have access to the counters, need to be non partisan and honest – background checks on all!
