No doubt about it, our time has come. Major changes will happen this year, and in the end, it will be better.
The fire is still raging, and rest assured, the phoenix will soon rise.
I declare 2006 THE YEAR OF THE PHOENIX!!!
(For those recovering from too much New Year's cheer - just click on the bold, it's a link)
*grinz*
Happy New Year!!
Thanks to Brad for creating a spot for kindred spirits to gather.
And, in case I haven't told y'all in awhile - I really like you people.

Kestrel - "Year of the Phoenex"...well, good thought, as I'm going to be on the radio in Phoenix tonight (6pm my time, 7pm theirs). I wanted to avoid any such committments today, but it was the only opportunity to do his show for several weeks, so I agreed. It's a full hour, and he's a conservative. And now, of course, since you point out that it's in Phoenix, it seems appropriate.
Happy 2006 all! May it be a helluva lot better than 2005!

Happy New Year to all.
It's so wonderful to congregate around so many bright open-minded souls.
We are all 'Mad as Hell and we are not going to take it any longer'.
Thank you Brad. I don't blog much myself, but I'm reading your blogs every day.
Please keep up the great work. There's so much wrong that we need to correct. But one step at a time. Clean up voting....then get majorities in the congress. Then watch out neocons, cabals and crap cans everywhere..
THANKS AGAIN

Well it has been black as hell since December 12, 2000.
When the hell are we gonna see the sun again?
Hopefully 2006 in spite of Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia.
These are the darkest days I can ever recall.

Happy New Year to all in BradBlogville.
It is my deepest hope that the Year of the Phoenix (as our friend Kessy declared) will see the end of the fear, the end of the tyrrany, the end of the torture.
May we all work very hard to once again make the USA the greatest nation in the world... what was lost can be found... if we work hard enough for it... as Vinnie (Post #20) recalled, we lost it in December 2000. It may seem hard for us to remember what a wonderful country this was prior to then.
But we can bring that spirit back to this country... and rise again from the ashes.
HERE'S TO A WONDERFUL AND PROSPEROUS 2006.

Happy Belated New Year to all the lovely people in Bradville! I feel as if we've walked through the Valley of Death in 2005, and that now it's time for the skies to clear. Thank you, Brad, for all you've done in leading the charge back towards sanity. Knowledge is power, and you have done more than anyone I can think of to empower all who care to see. Let's all pool our formidable minds and energies this year, sweep our venerable house clean at last, and go back to enjoying what is so sweet and precious in this wonderful world we have inherited.

This year may go down as "the year the oil wars came out of the closet".
The fact that Putin has fired the first shot over Europe's bow (link here), out in the open, loud, and at the coldest time of the year, brings it out of the closet.
The US oil war in Iraq is still a closet case. At least as far as the administration is concerned.
The bulk of their policies are in the closet, like the homosexuals they pay to promote anti homosexual rhetoric, while at the same time allowing prostitute homosexuals liberal access to the white house and news briefings a la Gannon.
Yep, the neoCons may think that their oil wars are in the closet but we have outed them over and over here at brad blog.
Putin, as pointed out in the article, is as honest as he is ruthless. The neoCon gang is as dishonest as it is ruthless.

Here's wishing all of you a very happy and prosperous new year in 2006, and let's hope that this year we can really make some headway into pushing the criminals out of the White House and Congress.
To Patrick Fitzgerald I say "Go Dude!" And I hope that many more whistleblowers like Clint Curtis come out and help pull the veil off all of the treason and corruption perpetrated by this band of gangters!
Thanks to Brad and all the other selfless contributors to this website. Thank you so much for keeping me informed and giving me a chance to play a small part in affecting change in our country.
I look forward to new opportunities in 2006 to push hard in the direction of peace, honesty and fair representation in our government.
I've heard it said that the best revenge is "living well", so to all of the regulars here at Brad's Blog, I wish you prosperity, knowledge and self-fulfillment. Let's really kick their asses in 2006!
Peace,

I will second Dredd and Czaragorn. Let 2006 be a year of honesty no matter how much it hurts because honesty is strength and sanity - and dishonesty is what really hurts.
Global warming, peak oil, degradation of democracy in favor of consolidated power and wealth, government by bribery, election crime...U.S. citizens don't want these things, but as with all people in all times, they are adept at looking the other way, not facing problems that threaten to disrupt their short time here on earth and the images and goals of the "good life".
Maybe in 2006, the snowball formed by Brad and the rest of us will really start rolling and meaning and creativity will attach to honesty, action and its consequent strength - in a big way. It has happened many times in history, so we shouldn't let ourselves lose resolve. (Not likely. ) We'll have a good, bracing fight anyway in 2006 assuredly.

As a fan of your website, may I make a suggestion?
IGNORE Ann Coulter! I'm convinced her "blond bitch" act is phonier than George Bush's squinty-eyed impression of a Marlboro Man. Who knows
or really cares what motivates this woman to keep
spewing venom at liberals? Maybe Mummy and
Daddy rejected poor little Annie. Maybe some
people can appear human, yet still have the in-
stincts and social skills of reptile.
What Coulter really wants, and desperately needs, is publicity. I'll bet she spends hours, scanning newspaper articles and progressive websites, looking for evidence that her latest, idiotic remark has really pissed off the lefties. Why should we
Democrats keep snapping at her bait? She isn't
powerful. She isn't influential. She may be well-known, but she'll never be popular. Even the gas-
bags on Fox start cringing when Coulter joins their
"panel discussions" - realizing no doubt, how many
millions of television viewers might enjoy wringing
her skinny neck.
Nothing this silly woman says is worth quoting or
refuting. Just write Coulter off as another right-
wing crank with a big mouth and a bloated ego.
Think about the wisdom of an old proverb: "The
dogs bark, but the caravan moves on."

Bluetoo - Thanks for your thoughts, though I'll disagree with just this one statement of yours:
"She isn't
powerful. She isn't influential. She may be well-known, but she'll never be popular."
Coulter *is* in fact, power, influential and popular. Very. Which is why she's so dangerous. Yes, she's a nutbag, and most reasonable folks tend to understand that, but the casual watcher, listener, reader, doesn't. Her constant appearances on CNN, Fox, etc. are, in fact, harmful to our country (IMHO), and certainly her having posting the private family information of a BRAD BLOG Guest Blogger on her website publicly, is most certainly dangerous, if not actionable.
If you don't push back at these folks, you will be run over. That's *my* take on it anyway, but (unlike Ann) I certainly respect your right to feel differently about it

Anyone wondering if Kerry's wimp-out after the 2004 election had anything to do with the NSA spying/blackmail? And then his private admissions of election fraud followed by public denials?
You should be!
Like I've said before, there is no reason to bypass the FISA court UNLESS you know they won't approve of what is being done. So, what might they be doing? It is pretty obvious that Bushco is spying for political purposes with important consequences.
Spying on terrorists or even suspected terrorists would be approved without a blink.
It's Watergate all over again! Criminals have no imagination. They do the same things over and over. Time to put them behind bars.

I do not think Ann Coulter is powerful, I think her followers are powerless. Semantics.
They have no analytical power, and thus, are in effect hypnotized by their own ignorance, and her administration of trite, hateful, and emotional garbage.
There is an enormous ocean of hate in America, and hate is what imprisons the minds of her followers. Which are Limbaugh followers. She is just the lock and key person, the prison guard.
She has them thinking they are free and the good guys when actually their minds and feelings are the harbors of hate.
It is the neoCon way.
