Stephen Colbert, host of The Comedy Channel’s Colbert Report, spoofed Fox New’s top rated Bill O’Reilly. Colbert regularly mocks O’Reilly’s “Talking Points” segment with his own version call “The Word”.
Colbert’s latest rant, pokes fun at Bill O’Reilly’s much-hyped “War on Christmas”. O’Reilly has previously attacked the The Comedy Channel, calling it “The Secular Channel”. (Check out this BRAD BLOG report for the full scoop.)
The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are classic works of art.
It is a strange world to those, like O’Reilly, who are legends in their own mind.
They will never get it.
COULD SOMEONE IN THE MEDIA GET BACK TO REPORTING ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF PHASE II OF THE SENATE SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE. REMEMBER THE STUNT THE DEMOCRATS HAD TO PULL OVER A MONTH AGO TO GET THIS ON THE MEDIA’S RADAR SCREEN.
REMEMBER WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FALSE PRE-WAR INTELLIGENCE RESPONSIBLE.

Damnit.. I guess I need to tweak the DVR to get both of those.. I’ve been recording The Daily Show and skipping Colbert because some times he’s not funny.. but he does have a lot of good bits I probably shouldn’t miss..
It’s funny.. I was watching The Daily Show last night and Ricky’s comment came to mind.. you know, the one where he said (paraphrased) "this is comedy, you losers get your informantion from comedy, that should tell you something".. and while Jon was poking fun at things (comedy, if you will), I couldn’t help but notice that I had already read about all the stories in the news/blogsphere.. so it was funny to me because I already knew what he was talking about.. Funny, isn’t it? (in a non-comedy way) How the right-wing tries to minimalize their ignorance and criminality by trying to make associations that are 1/2-assed or flat out incorrect..? "Get our info from a comedy show"? No, Ricky.. It’s "comedy" because it’s funny.. That particular show makes fun of current events which have already been reported on as facts.. I guess in your twisted little world, it’s only funny if someone or some class/group of people you don’t like is being tortured, eh? But it’s not funny when your ignorance and follies are paraded around for the world to see with the varnish of attempted sincerity stripped off and left with nothing but the naked absurdity of it all? Seeing the Emporer with No Clothes is funny to me, especially since he stands there so stark and with a failed attempt at being dignified.. He, and the right-wing, are a laughable joke, and it’s refreshing (and relaxing and theraputic) to see people of like minds not being bulled over by the madness.
The Daily Show is the only show I go out of my way to watch. Colbert is funny too, but it’s a struggle for me to stay awake that late. Wish they were on an hour earlier….
but anyway, yes they are comedy but they are news also. What the (fill in idiot group’s name here) don’t get is that if reality weren’t so goddamned ridiculous. The Daily Show and Colbert wouldn’t be so funny. That’s what satire is all about. Of course, it must hurt them to be the butt of most of the jokes – that’s what they really don’t like. The endless ridicule. Now if they’d stop giving us so much ammo…

There is anecdotal evidence that a large portion of TDS viewers are university students. The Daily Show’s ratings consistently beat out other Television News broadcasts such as NBC, ABC, and Fox. Because the News is presented in a satirical edge, the Daily Show appeals to many more people than would be expected.

O’Reilly called the White House for help in the war on Christmas. He assumed the Bush administration would be sympathetic.
But Bush couldn’t serve because he claimed to still be a member of the Texas National Guard. Jenna and Barbara were out drinking and couldn’t be reached. Cheney said he had "other priorities" and asked for a deferment. Condi Rice said no because she travels too much and would have to miss the carol sing. Rummy said he’d join only if Halliburton was promised a contract to rebuild Christmas after the war. Scottie McClellan said it was ridiculous to assume any White House employee would be involved.

The "victory" the president and his admin now pray we will accept is tired.
They defined "victory" originally to be seizing WMD in Iraq. That war could not be won because it was a fantasy war.
Next "victory" was defined as being welcomed as liberators by the Iraqi people. The Iraqi’s did not, however, like shock and awe and random killings of their women and children, less water than before, less electricity than before, less security than before, a hyper increase of terrorists and terrorism, nor did they welcome US as liberators, and so that "victory" is also an illusion.
Next "victory" was bringing "freedom" to Iraq via elections. Like Vietnam elections where "83% of the vietnamese registered voters voted" in September of 1967 even tho the viet cong were terrorizing the populace, vietnam fell not too long thereafter. Having an election is not the hallmark of freedom in case neoCons have not noticed.
The word "victory" is another empty, meaningless, and useless term which is touted as the pinnacle of admin policies and the talking points of shills like Rush and O’Reilly.
The word "victory" is the new lie word.

The difference between neoCon fake news and some of those Medium Right lists, is that the latter are admitted comedy sources on purpose.
The neoCon comedy news (e.g. Fox) do not point out that they are comedy. The polls and this blog point out, however, that they are a comedy of errors.
It is terrible that there is more truth coming from the comedy shows than from Snottie and the Propaganda Boys (a neoCon "gospel" music group)

Stewart is great, but I think Colbert is 100x funnier. His wit and cleverness are un-matched. I think he’s even funnier than Larry David. I hope everyone gets behind Colbert because if his show doesn’t make it then it will be a huge disappointment.
