No, Paul, George W Bush is vulgar — and he doesn’t SPEAK for the majority of Americans so he’s a fine one to proclaim Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for the majority of military families! Only thing is Bush should at least make an attempt to work for all Americans. Cindy isn’t under any such obligation!

    GO BRAD GO!!!

    Hi Paul,

If people do not listen or try to listen when someone tries to speak civil, then they have to try another way to get them to listen….. and anyway, Brad is speaking the way he wants and the way he feels… I thought and want to believe that we all have this right. If you think Brad is vulgar( which I do not..) you should hear how soldiers talk to each other.. but the soldiers know that this type of language is a way to communicate and they accept it for what it is and take no offense…. I wish that you could do the same… I have an idea!!!!!! Join the miliatary and learn this lesson for yourself!!!!

Tried to listen to the show. could never get in. Went back to the Limbaugh Show.

    > and he doesn’t SPEAK for the majority of Americans so he’s a fine one to proclaim Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for the majority of military families!

    She doesn’t.

    > Only thing is Bush should at least make an attempt to work for all Americans

That is difficult when the Americans are card carrying members of the left kook fringe.

Where are the Democrat leaders in Crawford? Where is Hillary? They are distancing themselves from the kooks.

    HI Paul,

There is something that that I feel that you do not understand… A soldier gives an oath and they are bound to this oath.. They give up thier rights ( willingly) so that the rest of America can exercise thier rights… One of these rights is to ask questions and to have the right to the truth….. A soldier does not have these rights….. They depend on the people of America to express what they feel…. No matter what you say or do…. This is a VOLENTEER Military…..The soldiers listen to the American people and do what they swore to do……. As for your comment that Cindy Sheehan does not speak for the majority of American people…????? My question to you is who is the majority???????? Is the majority actually a minority? It seems to me that you have no idea about the obligation and trust that one soldier has to another and to our country, and to our people as Americans…and the dream that America is founded on ground principles that should never be broken..

I hope Bush’s approval ratings perk up… I’m more afraid of him lashing out with a Radiological Dirty Bomb in Chicago or hitting a nuke plant someplace and then "blaming" (read: scapegoating) a terrorist group in a faroff land controlled by a regime who actually wants to be our friend (like the Taliban).

This is a truly scary time to be alive in the USA (our once-great nation.)

    So, here ya go:

    http://www.militaryenlist.com/

They’re getting pretty desperate for warm bodies over there, so you should have no problem being accepted. And even if you’re not "combat ready" for one reason or another, I’m sure there are other ways in which you can show hands-on support – can you swing a hammer? Work a shovel?

And do me a favor, post an address as soon as your deployed so we can send you care packages.

And an invitation to the impeachment parties.

I watched his speech today. Just sickening and I’m sure that the military audience was hand picked. I’m sure that people like me didn’t get a ticket to that speech! You do have to have a ticket even on military bases and posts and you don’t get in without one. You usually have to get them from your Commander too so it is unlikely that my husband will ever get tickets again to attend a Bush speech. I don’t know how Bush and his cronies are going to attempt to save this sinking ship but it’s going down so fast that I think that whatever they are going to attempt is going to be scary. They have a lot of people pissed though these days so they may want to be really careful trying to attempt creating their own terrorist attack on America, I’m not sure they can trust the people who they believe that they can trust. I know they are more than low enough to try it though.

This response shows why this individual is NOT worth arguing with. Multiple polls by numerous sources consistently demonstrate that this president and his policies, especially the war, are no longer supported by the American people. But this means nothing to people like this individual who will always choose to ignore anything that is contrary to their self-serving and desperate belief systems. Facts are not even an inconvenience, just something to be ignored. Arguing with people like this is an absolutely pointless exercise.

    MilitaryTracy (#42):

Thanks for your insight. You are correct.

However, I would like to get your opinion on the military’s support of the President (since you and your husband are insiders).

It has always been my impression that the military stands firmly Republican, firmly backing war presidents (of both parties), etc.

Last June, I saw the first signs of that support cracking when, in Ft. Bragg, no one applauded President Bush’s pro-Iraq War speech.

Can you give me some insight? Is anyone in the military even questioning our reason for being there?

Are they being threatened if they speak out?

Please respond with your impressions of "inside the bases."

They are now saying that there is a "compressor and limiter and buffering problem". I don’t know what it means but I believe the sound will return to normal after the break.

  40. 64)
MrBLUESKY said on 8/24/2005 @ 9:03am PT: [Permalink]

I know that some may consider it astonishing, but our military is about 40% Democrat leaning. You have to understand that different people with rank benefit under different administrations. Generals with more liberal beliefs have been "let go" and officers with Republican beliefs are being acknowledged and promoted and garnering much sought after positions. This trickles down right to your little guys and if they have any misgivings about this administration they are keeping it to themselves. The fact that nobody applauded W’s speech at Fort Bragg would mean a lot in the regular world but the military is a very closed environment and when those people don’t applaud their Commander in Chief that means a whole lot more. It means that things are really really broken in ways that us regular civilians would think were a complete nightmare. Soldiers are taught from bootcamp that pain is only weakness leaving the body. If they are making noises that there is too much pain the level of pain among them would bring the rest of us completely to our knees and our lives to a stand still.

When I played drums in the USSR in 1991, opening for the #1 pop band in Kazakhstan, I used a compressor/limiter on my drum kit. Pretty nice piece of equipment, athough I am sure it is not the same thing you are talking about.

Recently, I received some nice stamps from Russia celebrating 2000 years of Christianity.

But Paul said he can call Bush an SOB because he’s not on duty now.
That’s why it’s important for civilians to speak out for the soldiers.

    MrBlueSky,
I think that we now have such groups as optruth.org and the active duty soldiers that are IN Camp Casey now proves that more and more soldiers are if not dems, at least leaning against this admin. Your estimates of 40% in the active military was right when I was a brat, that was about the ratio, (father was an officer and a dem too, though far less officers are dems than enlisted).

I am willing to bet though that the numbers are higher right now.

    A letter to Bush

    [snip] A letter to Bush:

Dear President Bush: August 23, 2005

I just spent three days in and around your town of Crawford, and it was clear to me that there are many Crawford residents who are pleased to have you as a neighbor. Your image and name and the signs supporting you and your presidency are certainly abundant. I had no trouble at all finding President Bush postcards to bring home with me, even one that details Laura’s Texas Cowboy Cookies. My wife and I plan to bake them at our house soon.

I didn’t spend most of my time in Crawford, however. I was actually much closer to your ranch most of each day, standing and sitting alongside the road at Camp Casey, along with a few hundred other outsiders who came to support the message of Cindy Sheehan. I talked to people from all over America who had come to be as close to your ranch as we were allowed, to give you the message that your time of isolation is over. You can stay holed up at the ranch, or in the White House, or in friendly gatherings of your supporters, but from now on you will have constant reminders, wherever you are, that we the people of America, the majority now, do not approve of the process you used to take the country to war, nor of your conduct of the war. We do not approve of a President who lies to the people and to Congress and to the United Nations about the reasons for going to war, and then makes jokes about looking for WMDs under his desk, when American soldiers have been killed because you knowingly sent them to look for those nonexistent WMDs. After lots of searching, could this be what you’re asking about?

    Frank Meyer

    About Frank Meyer:

Frank (aka Frankie J. Meyer), has played with B.B. King, Luther Tucker and Peter Rowan to name a diverse few. He has opened shows for Christine Lavin, The Austin Lounge Lizards, John McCutcheon and many others. Sometime in the last millennium he was voted Best Bass Player in Austin. His songs range from the sensitive to the hilarious and from passionate to twisted. He also has a great collection of original children’s songs and plans to release a children’s CD by the end of 2004 entitled "Get Serious, Mr. Pancake." Directly from the heart to the funnybone, Frank’s music is medicine.

It really should be a real TIME cover. But, sadly, it’s not… the original showed a donkey getting squished, etc. Very anti-left cover, IMO. The so-called "liberal" media at it again… HA! Yeah, right… Anyway, thanks to all who REALLY support our troops and fight the Bush administration. I agree. I was in Moscow and Kazakhstan in 1991, just before the faked Gorbachev kidnapping. The curtain fell a few weeks after I got back but I always believed it would not last very long.

I happen to think that America is a little more moral than an atheistic country. I happen to think that we want to stop evil. Nazis and Hitler were evil. Terrorists are evil. Bush is not evil. He is only doing his constitutional duty in protecting America citizens, the #1 goal of our government.

Leftists are typically anti-war no mattter what war – just or unjust.

They do not know history or do not live in reality.

War is hell but look how much the world is better off today than during WW2. Look at the freedom of Germans and Japanese and Soutk Koreans. Look at what communism does and what a communist dictator does to a country – typically poverty and no freedom.

I believe in freedom. I beleive in peace through strength. I am a Reaganite! He bankrupted the former USSR – he destroyed them without a war. Sometimes that happens, sometimes war is needed.

Our President did not ensure this…….. and because of this families grieve……….It is easy to support the war if you are not in it and it does not effect you…… it is a totally different story if you have someoneyou know in it or familly directly involved in it…….. I’ve read more than a dozen books in the last few years trying to understand the real story on our war monger chicken hawk president because I don’t believe the spin. From the Price of Loyalty and Against All Enemies to Howard Zinn’s latest Peoples History of the US, I get the fact that Bush wages war to enrich himself and his friends at the Carlyle Group and the oil giants. But I just couldn’t figure the angle on Social Security Reform and why it was such a passion for the liar-in-chief. Then some thoughts came together.

Warning signs of financial danger are flashing for Americans of every economic class. Our twin deficits and looming real estate bubble foreshadow the possibility of a crash of 1929 proportions. If that particular analogy is too vague for you then think of the recent DOT COM bust on steroids. This potential threat is especially worrisome for the richest 1% because they hold vast wealth in the form of stocks and bonds. How can the 1% get out and stay rich? Well, all of our securities exchanges are "auction" markets. That means any imbalance between buyers and sellers drives the prices up and down. Clearly small stockholders on any given day can sell a few hundreds shares without tilting the market. What about the ultra-rich, the executives and CEOs whose holdings number upwards to millions of shares? The simple rumor of these massive blocks of securities going on sale would drive the prices down immediately. So big sellers require big buyers or else they can’t keep their wealth intact when they need to cash out at the top.

Enter Social Security reform as proposed by Bush with private accounts managed by experts and funded by social security taxes. Consider what a safety net this new system would be for Bush’s constituents, those who "Have More". Envision a Perfect Storm made up of the US trade imbalance, crippling government debt, rising interest rates and oil prices sparking a panic on Wall Street. Those savvy Wall Street insiders know the value of acting quickly as urgent situations develop. (Even Bush himself was a savvy insider selingl his Harkin Energy at about $4 per share a few days before every one else had to sell theirs for about $2 a few years ago.) If and when these flashing warning signs of financial collapse actually materialize for real, wouldn’t it be convenient for Uncle Sam to be available for buying out the big sellers? Then as the stock markets collapse and share prices become almost worthless, Bush’s friends in the richest 1% of the population preserve their wealth. And all those depressed shares would be safely tucked away for the long term in the accounts of average working class American citizens. Oh my, shafted again!

Intriguing that the war Bush started contributes to inflating the value of defense and oil shares while at the same time draining the treasury, running up the debt and setting the stage for the crash. Who said these Neocons weren’t smart? Dee

Great to compare the links! On my email I got the same photo, but with a caption that I didn’t see in your link. Here’s the caption:

Bill Moyer, 73, wears a "Bullshit Protector" flap over his ear while President George W. Bush addresses the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Wonder how the VFW passed their vote unanomously? You think ole Bill voted for declaring war on protesters? Or do ya think just maybe we can’t trust what anybody tells us if it has anything to do with the current administration? They’ve lied to us so long and proved to be so incrediblly ballsy in creating new deceitful ways to convince America that they’re right; that I don’t believe anything said in the media that is positive about Dubya. And maybe the American people don’t, either…

I noticed even Newsweek did a story last week about Bush’s (formerly smugly spouted as completely private) visit with some families of KIAs; and it showed him to be a compassionate individual, crying with the families for lost loved ones.

But I wonder. Was that staged, too? Did it really happen? Is Newsweek in on it? Or did they merely pick and choose families that were, despite their loss, still pro-war?

My point is, again: WHEN CAN WE EVER TRUST THEM???

Even if the story is true, they’ve lied to me so much, my first reaction is to not believe it. That may be what is slowly happening to the American public…

    peace,

    except,

if u include the alien factor, the real picture becomes somewhat perhaps more clear. the enormity of our situation is troubling. imagine this, the priviliedge few with a need to know, know that extraterrestrials (ie the beings who are in control of the universe), are real. they perceive these extraterrestrials to be a threat. These beings have interfered with their evil schemes in the past and in our unenlightened leaders percieve them to be hostile. so, they spend the last 60 years secretly in the hopeless task of developing technologies to fight off these beings which are millions or probably billions of years more advanced. the can’t reveal the reality to the public because then maybe the "game" is over and they can’t pass on their riches to their children or expand their empires. They have a monopoly on space. Now, they are keeping the world in a perpetual state of war either to help channel some more funds to their space weapons, and/or keep the world hooked on oil so we won’t have to develop clean technologies in the meantime. at the same time, the world goes to hell and massive numbers of people die off, all the better because they see the ideal earth population at around 250 million…

if we want to know what the noble cause is, i feel that it would involve bush acknowledging extra-terrestrial reality, and they aint about to do that, until it serves their purposes, with their coming fake war on extraterrestrials after the fake war on terror and the fake war on drugs…

    just my speculations

    Here’s a treat!

    Welcome Back Cindy!

We had the banner up hours before Cindy’s return to camp, but nothing could prepare us for the sight of America’s heroic mom stepping out of the van with a huge grin on her face. Likewise, I don’t know if she was expecting to be so overwhelmed by the sight of the new field of crosses and especially the beautiful mural of Casey commissioned for the new site. Moments after arriving, she went to lay flowers at the base of one of the gravemarkers, then made her way, smiling, over to the tent with a throng of media following her. When she laid eyes on the mural of her son, however, the tears began flowing and didn’t let up for nearly 15 minutes. Now Cindy’s getting some food and settling back into her home away from home. We’ll keep you updated as the night goes on!

Actually Paul the Nazis were very religious and not atheists as you claimed. Hitler actually believed he was doing the work of God in exterminating the Jews. If you have read any of his speeches for history’s sake you would see how he adamantly believed he was being told by God what to do the same as Bush claims.

If Bush was trying to protect us why didn’t he care about anti-terrorism pre-9/11? Why are members of his administration still on his staff after outing a CIA agent and exposing her assets? Why does he still work with Saudi Arabia even though most of the supposed hijackers were from Saudi Arabia?

The Saudi Arabian government is just as guilty of terrorism than Iraq ever was. Why doesn’t he launch a pre-emptive attack on them?

Actually you’d be suprised as to how many on the left actually have studied history compared to the people on the right who seem to love revising it and counting on the american people’s short attention span. Communism and dictatorship are not similiar as you describe them. The systems that have been involved in the world were actually totalitarian and not communistic. Look at the good socialism has done in european countries and canada. I don’t see Canada invading people now do you?

Reagan was a paper tiger. He did nothing of the sort to the soviet union. We knew from the time of Eisenhower that the soviet union was starting to collapse under its own weight. We didn’t bankrupt them, they bankrupted themselves with failed policies. It was people in Reagan’s administration that caused an overwhelming fear of the Russians. Claiming the Russians had secret weapons even though we had no proof they existed. The CIA had this knowledge and an alternative intelligence group was set up by Rumsfeld and Cheney to try to debunk the intelligence the CIA had.

Reagan may have been a nice guy but he was guilty of Genocide in South America and also the arming of Saddam Hussein.
