Just in minutes ago from a source attending an invitation-only event at the Capital City Brewery next to Union Station in D.C.
With the last of the challengers for DNC chair now having dropped out of the race, an invitation went out just last night for “A Grassroots Celebration with Governor Howard Dean” organized by Democracy for America.
The crowd was so much larger than expected (the source estimates 2000 were there), that Dean moved outside to make his speech.
Below are some of the excerpts we were able to transcribe via the live cell phone connection from our source who was standing just next to the good doctor during his impromptu speech:
We have to NEVER be afraid to say what we believe! [HUGE CHEERS]
The people of this country are extraordinary exceptional people. 95% percent of the people want the same thing…Whatever category you think you fit into…We want to be respected in the world, not just have the strongest military in the world…We want jobs and job opportunities and to keep them in America. We want economic security…The largest number of personal bankruptcies are because of people who have medical emergencies, even those with insurance…We want to improve our public school system so we have the same chances our parents and grandparents had.
We’re gonna do a lot of things together, because I can’t do anything without all of you…This is your party, not mine.
But above all, we need not just to organize, not just to raise money, we need to stand up and speak up for what is right!
I will never use rhetoric that is used to divide America merely to win elections…We will never divide one American from another in order to win. If we do that, we will not be able to make an improvement once we get here.
…Take a look behind me (pointing to U.S. Capital Building)…In 2006 we’re gonna make major strides in taking that building back and in 2008 it’ll be a Democrat walking up Pennsylvania to take the oath of office! [CROWD WENT WILD]
We’re not big Democrats around here these days. But we’re big supporters of Dean, and couldn’t give a crap what the detractors say (and boy, will we be hearing a lot from them now! We suggest you ignore them and smile in their general direction!), he’s the man to change the party into something that’s worth fighting for. Let’s see if he can do it.

Yeah, Howard Dean! (Scrreeeeaaammm) I like this man. If anyone can improve the Demo. Party, it’s Dean. Support for Demo Dean!
I agree with Peggy.
I welcome Gov Dean as the DNC chair. It is about time we have a voice in this party which is ours. He is very much the chairman I can follow. Way to go Dean !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCREAM for Dean!
Even I feel good about Dean right now.
Dean is exactly who we need at this time. It’s all about standing up for what you believe in and having the guts to say it.
I’m not real big on Democrats either, at least lately, I’m a registered Green, but I think that if anyone can get us all moving in the same direction again, it is Dean. This is a good day.
As a member of the right wing conspiracy, I am tickled to death for Dean. Thank you! It shows that the Dems have learned nothing!
Let all of these leftwing organizations like Moveon.org and the above mentioned ruin the party.
Again, thank you thank you thank you! It is a good day – "oh happy day…"
Get lost Paul!
You are already lost!
Hey Paul, you might want to check in with your own party ’cause it looks like there is some trouble up ahead for you freepers……….Let’s see……
1. Iraq is a lost cause and it looks like there will be a Shiite religeous majority running the place, I’m sure **sh had that in mind. Wait, aren’t there reports of election irregularities and fraud, and what’s up with the delay in releasing the numbers for turnout and the final vote count? Is your boy trying to show them how to run elections like he runs (fixes) them here. Hey, thanks.
2. The 911 Commision is set to release information regarding the fact that there were at least 52 specific warnings leading up to the attacks and nothing was done about it. Hey, thanks
3.One of your propaganda soldiers just got outed as running a gay website, and for posing as a real journalist in the White House press Corp. The guy wasn’t even using his real name dude. This is on top of the fact that your boy was caught paying pundits to whore for his agenda. Hey, thanks.
4.Someone in your boy’s inner circle outed a C.I.A. agent to the press, if that’s what you would call Robert Novak. This is a crime and treasonous, not to mention, putting that agents life in danger. Hey,
thanks.
5. Ohio Sec. of State Kenneth Blackwell has refused to appear before a BIPARTISAN panel looking into voting problems in his state, and Ohio Republican Rep. Bob Ney said in regard to this that "we may have disagreements, but you can’t run, and you can’t hide". These are your guys Paul. Hey, thanks.
6. Your pResident is set to rape the social security programs that we have all been paying into all our working lives. While he gives tax cuts to the richest one percent, he rapes the workers. Hey, thanks.
7. Just yesterday we learned that the prescription drug coverage programs for the elderly that we were told would cost 400 billion are now going to cost between 750 billion and 1.2 trillion. He doesn’t even respect our senior citizens. Shame, shame. But hey, thanks.
8.Under his new budget we learn that those in our country who have risked and given the most to protect us, our brave veterans, will now have to pay twice as much for thier medication. THIS is a moral outrage. Hey, thanks.
Should I go on Paul? The wheels are coming off your wagon. Check back in when you have something intelligent to say.
Peace
re #10. Hey thanks, Supersoling. That’s a good summary of the main things Paul has to be proud of this week. Been a real good week, hasn’t it, Paul?
I am so excited about having Dean in this position.
I feel a change is a coming. HO boy! I love it!!!!
Love your List of Eight, Supersoling.
You go Supersoling I feel a crumbling in the walls of the whitehouse! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been a great week. I’m lovin Howard Dean as DNC chair. All the freepers hate him, doesn’t get much better than that. They are quakin in their boots.
#10 Hey thanks Supersoling. A great list of the Bushco boondoggles. What more could you ask for in the breadth of seven days. Howard Dean for DNC chair. I guess that keeps me a democrat a while longer instead of looking for progressive third party. Looks like the Shrub’s house of cards is beginning to fall.
Yaaay! He won!
Re #10
You guys, play fair!
How can the wing nut get a good head of steam up for a major drivel session if you go and throw facts at him?
You know that there is no place for anyone with morals and scruples in American politics these days, that’s why the freepers don’t like Dean. That is also why the Dems didn’t put him up as Presidential candidate – let us not forget that either. One both sides of the political divide, honesty and integrity are not seen as positive attributes these days.
We’re not out of the woods yet, not by a long shot. When the Democrats in congress are put in the awkward position of publicly justifying their support of the neo-cons, then we’ll be getting somewhere.
All ahead full and damn the trolls!
Good article at common Dreams:
The Second American Revolution
by Joel S. Hirschhorn
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0213-02.htm
"As the new Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, you need a new powerful message and mission. You need to think boldly in terms of fundamentals. You need to think like our Founding Fathers, because saving a democracy is as important as creating it. Attention must be paid to the truth: We need a Second American Revolution. You can be a leader and healer for our time. "
