I happen to think that faked polls are a big problem, and want to start us off on this topic, but this is an open thread, and I hope you will feel free to bring in bits of news that interest you for discussion.

My thanks to local Randi affiliate KTLK am1150, "L.A.'s Progressive Talk," for allowing me, yet again, to broadcast from their fine studios in beautiful downtown Burbank!

I've blogged about today's show over at Randi's site, so check it out for more details, but here's a few sneak previews of scheduled guests (as always, subject to change, pending breaking news and if I happen to feel like it):

Your Election Glitches, Hiccups, Snags and Snafus Failure Headquarters...
By Brad Friedman on 2/6/2008 1:24pm PT

We're crawling through tons of election-related problem reports (thanks to VotersUnite's early report, and those of you emailers and commenters) this morning from all over the state, and all over the country. Trying to make sense of as many of them as possible. Confirm them, seek out more details, etc. It's really a matter of triage at this point.

Many of you, in other threads, have been sharing experiences and concerns from the polling place yesterday, or have come across troubling reports from the news media, etc.

Feel free to repost and/or add new comments here in this thread, as we continuing to sift through the rubble, so that we might be able to continuing collecting some of the reports, and allowing for others here to dig into them as well. There seems to be more than enough work to go around today. Again. And unfortunately...

UPDATE: Republicanist Fox 'News' Dis 'Democrat Response'
ALSO: Feingold's Response to Bush's SOTU, Says 'Congress Must Stand Up' to 'Bully' Bush
By Brad Friedman on 1/28/2008 6:07pm PT

Leave your Open Thread thoughts on tonight's State of the Union Speech in comments below...

POST-SOTU UPDATE: The Republicanists at Fox "News" just can't help themselves, even for the State of the Union...

UPDATE 8:10pm PT: Following the (supposedly) "centrist" response to the SOTU, offered up by the scared-to-death Democratic "leadership", in the person of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sibelius, a real response to Bush's SOTU was sent out by Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI). The short response follows below in full, and serves to remind us what reality looks like...

By Brad Friedman on 1/18/2008 6:46pm PT

The Internets at my hotel in Oakland have been out for appx. the last 24. As you can imagine, I'm not very happy tonight, with so much that's been going on over the last day. (Along with much to come tomorrow, btw...in re: Sibel).

So I'm jumping in quickly via net access courtesy of the Peter B. Collins Show, here at their luxurious San Francisco studio, where I was on hand to do my weekly 5pm PT appearance, live, in-studio for a change.

Anyway, back when I can get back, which I hope is sometime soon. Lots to cover. Until then. Discuss...And, as always, please blog responsibly.

By Brad Friedman on 1/11/2008 3:58pm PT

As you might have guessed, I'm buried for the moment in a blizzard of incoming calls, emails, and more (such as bad, and misleading, articles and blog items about all of this), even while trying to both learn more details on a number of fronts and keep up with media appearances to discuss the issues so Americans might better understand what's really going on here, and what the concerns really are.

So I'll have much more on all of this tonight, as I get caught up with a number of related items that I've been working on at the same time, while trying to keep up with all of the above.

Until then, consider this an Open Thread. And I hope you'll help me, by continuing to spread the facts about the questions at hand.

Those questions begin with this concern:

While pollsters and the MSM and even theoretically-Progressive bloggers are speculating about what might have gone wrong in dozens of different, independent, transparent pre-election polls --- almost all of which found precisely the same information --- very few seem to be questioning whether the completely unverified results, from 80% of New Hampshire, counted on hackable, error-prone Diebold machines, completely programmed, controlled, and operated by a single, private, less-than-respectable company (LHS Associates), were actually accurate in the first place.

At the same time, evidence exists that even the Exit Polls showed Obama was winning throughout the day, and there have been a number of eyebrow-raising questions about the reported results themselves, as discovered so far, during independent analysis of them. Not enough anomalies have yet been found, in my opinion, to raise any large red flags, but certainly a still-growing number of anomalies for yellow ones.

I'll add that even if the ballots, if they are ever actually counted, turn out to reveal a different result than reported, it could be due to error, not fraud, and if fraud, it needn't have been committed by anybody related, in any way, to the Clinton camp.

I believe we all deserve to know if the results, as reported, were accurate beyond a shadow of a doubt. That is the sensible and responsible question for the moment. And anybody who offers you reasons for why Clinton won (perhaps she did, we cannot know for sure at this time) or why Obama lost (perhaps he did, we cannot know for sure at this time) is doing nothing but irresponsibly speculating.

Discuss. More tonight...

(UPDATE: Okay, more tomorrow instead...promise. Lots going on.)

Obama wins for the D's, Huckabee wins for the R's. Consider this an Iowa horse race Open Thread, as you wish...

For my part, I'll take the opportunity to open it up with a few bragging rights, along with a simultaneous warning to those who think Huckabee will be easy for the D's to beat if he were to win the nomination.

Back in January of '07, after seeing Huckabee interviewed for the first time (on The Daily Show), I wrote:

...on the Republican side, I might suggest one of the dark horses that Democrats should be most concerned about is Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. His recent appearance on The Daily Show may give you an idea why. That is, if he can make it through the hard right phony "conservative" hurdles of the primary process.

Daily Show's Huckabee Interview on Vid here: Part 1, Part 2.

I stand by that prediction, and think Dems would be foolish to misunderestimate Huckabee. Period. Discuss.

Blogged by Brad from somewhere in the Nevada desert...

On the road for many hours today, hopefully for the last time this "Summer."

Have been working hard over the last day or two, and again today, to try and help move things forward with some sensible federal Election Reform in time for 2008. We'll see if we have any success. Even on the roll.

But as I'll be off the net for the bulk of today/tonight, here's an open thread to keep you busy on 9/11's sixth anniversary when I know that you, like most Americans, have just one thing on your mind: Was Britney's performance all that it should have been on MTV's Video Music Awards?

Blogged by Brad from somewhere in Colorful Colorado...

After threatening, and trying for the last two months, to get fully "off the grid," by jiminy, I'm gonna do it. At least for a few days. Come hell or highwater. At least until after Labor Day.

Heading up to get lost in the mountains for a few days beginning today, and so the Guest Bloggers will do as they please here (or not). Whatever happens at The BRAD BLOG, will stay at The BRAD BLOG.

Goodbye cruel world! At least until next week at some point (unless the bears get me)...

Plus an Open Thread if ya Like...
By Brad Friedman on 5/4/2007 4:11pm PT

Have gotten all bollixed up here late in the week on a number of stories and tips and deadlines that I'm working on concurrently. So posting has been light for a day or so (you're welcome --- to those who might be thankful for that! :-) )

Anyway, Peter B. Collins is on a getaway vacation this weekend, so I won't be doing my normal Friday hour with him, but apparently he's not on that much of a vacation because he stepped in to Guest Host a couple of hours of Thom Hartmann's Air America show this morning.

Since I haven't posted many radio appearances here of late, and since throngs of adoring fans would otherwise have their weekend utterly destroyed without their usual PBC Bradcast to kick it off, I figure I'll post this quick Hartmann hit with PBC from this morning.

8 rough and tumble minutes from Ann Coulter's voter fraud to Florida's new paper ballots to Rush Holt's HR811 and a little bit of Thor Hearne thrown in for flavor, all over the national Air America airwaves...who could use much more of the above if you ask me...

-- Brad on Thom Hartmann Program, Guest Hosted by PBC, 5/4/07 [MP3, 8 minutes]

Otherwise, consider this an Open Thread if ya like...

By Brad Friedman on 2/13/2007 11:59am PT

Yes, there are Democrats in Orange County, California, apparently. At least they've invited me to speak to them tonight.

If you're one of them, or otherwise interested, please stop by tonight. Dinner is at 6pm, I start yackin' at 7pm. At El Adobe de Capistrano Restaurant, 31891 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA. More details...

And now, the obligatory mention that I'd be equally delighted (if not more so) to speak to the Orange County, CA, Republicans if they ever feel like taking a break from voter registration fraud and switching voter registrations from Dem to Rep in order to invite me to speak to them.

The mini-road tour continues as we've finally returned from Arizona to the Golden State, even if we won't be back at The BRAD BLOG World News Headquarters until later this week/weekend. Thanks to all of the Guest Bloggers who have been carrying on so smartly in our stead as we've unable to man the front desk 24/7 as usual.

We'll be back at full strength soon. Until then, an Open Thread is likely in order. Consider this one of them. Comment away!

Featuring Several SOTU Extras!
By Brad Friedman on 1/23/2007 5:03pm PT

Last year, during the SOTU, we spent all night live blogging the inappropriate arrest of Cindy Sheehan for wearing a T-shirt to the State of the Union address. And, naturally, the misreporting of it by CNN, AP et al. We're hoping for a less eventful SOTU tonight, personally, but lord only knows what could happen. If it does, we'll be here.

But so will you. So, to that end, consider this a SOTU Open Thread. Have at it!

To get you warmed up, if you need it, see the rather hysterical parody SOTU at right and the quite amusing Democratic response that follows. We're sure neither will be anything at all like the actual versions. (Hat-tip Atrios for the vid.)

For your more serious types, RAW STORY has advance excerpts from the speech right here and Webb's response right here.

And if you're wondering what came of our call for Sen. Jim Webb to be allowed to give his Democratic Party Response to the full joint session of Congress just after Bush, here's the final word from Speaker Pelosi's office on it.

Oh...and if you're interested, I was on San Antonio's KTSA with Chris Duel this afternoon discussing it (and delighting everyone in Texas by calling George W. Bush a criminal!) That radio appearance is right here [MP3, appx. 15 mins]

See you in Comments (unless events warrant an update here)...
