Wow! First of all, thank you for explaining to people that to call or consider oneself a conservative is to know, love, respect and understand our US Constitution - it is not about which button you button your shirt with or the strength of your relationship with your God. For me, conservative and constitutionalist are one in the same.
The US Constitution was written, in part. so that no man would have to ask for "permission" from another man to grant them equality. Equality is suppose to be an unconditional guarantee by our constitution - not something to be conditionally granted by this religion or that religion or by this figurehead or that figurehead.
I actually become entertained when people start throwing the bible at same sex marriage and couples. I believe there are close to 1 million bible verses and approximately 6 of them deal with homosexuality. I have always expressed - if one wants to enforce Biblical laws than enforce them all, not only the ones that are convenient for one's current crusade; i.e. "the bible says homosexuality is an abomination, therefore no gay marriage".
Why does one not hear "them" discuss how it is against biblical law to get divorced, to wear wool and cotton at the same time, for sex to take place during a woman's menstrual cycle and to commit adultery - to name a few. "They" definitely do not discuss the written biblical required punishment for such violations - death by stoning.

Gay or straight, right handed or left handed, light skin or dark skin, everyone one just wants to be treated equally and the US Constitution guarantees just that - equally protected under the law!
One last thing... why is a gay marriage compared to beastyality? Last time I checked, hetero and gay couples consisted of two homosapiens. What an amazing leap...
