As a first announced last night on The Daily Show…
…And then, later in the evening, in a bit more detail, on “a more prestigious show”…
Will he have more of an actual effect on the race than, say, Pat Paulsen, the inveterate comedian-candidate of many a prior Presidential contest? We wager Colbert just might, actually.
New York Times has some details and Colbert himself brought CBS’s Jeff Greenfield on for analysis of his impact on the race, “in the last three minutes,” as seen in the following video…

Apparently this is making the rounds among network news reporters: On a recent private jet flight a rather tipsy Rupert Murdoch, owner of News Corporation and Fox News Channel, said this about his adopted homeland: “You know what U.S.A. stands for to me? Uneducated silly arseholes. I make billions every year pedaling rah-rah bollocks to the American public and I’m bloody happy to do it. If and when the pendulum swings the other way, I’ll make billions more catering to them with a different kind of populist claptrap. Compared to doing business in China where they’re very discerning, the States was like taking candy from a baby.”
World’s Greatest Living Human….
The spelling of the word “favourite” with a “u” above implies British elitism and brands this blog as liberal at best, probably Communist terrorists at worst.
Actually, it brands this blog as “accurate”, since — if you bother to watch the video — that’s the spelling in the definition that Colbert used and showed on camera.
Nonetheless, your comment above brands you as a wise-guy after my heart at best, or otherwise, a kool-aid drinking, Limbaugh-listening, Fox “News” terrorist-fearing coward at worst.
Stephen Colbert is my “favourite” (Canadian elite:) personality in the USA.
I LOVE him!
He’s colourful ;o)
Would someone tell Stephen this is not funny? You’d think he’d know.
Truly. Far and away the best candidate of any who’ve declared, we need him running in all fifty states… badly.
He’s already whuppin’ the living snot out of the rest of the candidates in the polls!
Glad you mentioned Pat Paulsen, I immediately thought of him when Colbert did this. The “Smother’s Brothers”.
Brad –
I apologize – you are right, Colbert does use the Euroweenie/Canadian colony spelling of “favorite”.
I think that brands him as a tea-drinking, pro-imperial rule oligarch at best, or at worst, a Manchurian candidate of the EU enlisted to destroy our way of life and soften us up for an invasion of bikini briefs, Nutella, furry eyebrows, and Matchbox cars you are actually supposed to sit in and drive.
Frankly, I still haven’t decided how I feel about the blog…
If you’re an American, I think you should love the blog, AND Colbert….
“Frankly, I still haven’t decided how I feel about the blog… ”
What blog?
Rick Banales , now that you mention it I do have furry eyebrows, but don’t drink tea so I think I’m safe. Also I rip those furry brows out with waxing just to hide the fact that I am trying to destroy your way of life 🙂
It’s an honour to be a neighbour of Stephen Colbert.
(I think his mom is Irish)
Now Stephen in a bikini brief! Hummm… my mind wandered off.
It’s his mind I love.
This blog is a decent place for practitioners of the heuristic method….
I hope you all saw this one with Stephen and Kucinich. It made me laugh out loud. I think Kucinich is who I would vote for if I could vote.
