Thanks for posting the link for White Rose, Floridiot!! I listened to the show yesterday, but always miss some little bits here & there. I especially wanted to listen to the CNN exerpt again, very carefully.
Great catch on that, Brad and extremely important.
Anybody know exactly when that clip was aired?
TIA, Kira

Got it:
Aired January 30, 2007
ANNOUNCER: This is CNN Breaking News [abt. 1/3 down the page]
BLITZER: We're getting breaking news, potentially a very, very significant story about that sneak attack on a military compound --- a U.S. military compound in the Iraqi town of Karbala that led to the deaths of five American soldiers in recent days. Could agents from Iran, Iran have been responsible?
Our Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr has the story --- Barbara.
BARBARA STARR, CNN PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT: Wolf, CNN has learned that military investigators are looking into the possibility that an attack on a Karbala compound January 20 that killed five U.S. troops may, may have been carried out by either Iranians or Iranian trained operatives --- this word coming from officials in more than one government agency.
One official saying quote, "people are looking at this seriously" --- officials emphasize this is only a preliminary look. That they have no final conclusion, but why are they looking out down this road? Why are they saying it is possible that Iranians were behind it? Officials saying it is the level of sophistication and coordination and how this attack was carried out that it is far beyond the capabilities, they say, of the foreign fighters or the Shia militia groups that they have seen operate in the past.
Some of the indicators they're looking at, the attackers appear to have spoken English fairly well. That helped them get past some of the checkpoints. How they got maybe U.S. style military uniforms, how they came into possession of vehicles similar to those used by U.S. troops. Five U.S. soldiers were killed in the attack, one at the site. [more at link]
Hmmmmmmmm.....veddy interrrestink; em-phah-sis on the stink.

While we're waiting, fry your hair with this latest comment over at Winter Patriot's site:
According to The Fresno Bee, the aircraft carrier, USS Reagan, has just been ordered out of port – early!
If it ends up in the Persian Gulf, that will make three aircraft carriers in the area: the USS Eisenhower is already there and the USS Stennis should be there any day.
That’s either very expensive saber-rattling, or it’s preparation for war.

Here's a topic worth talking about.
Arlen Specter's questioning of Bush's war powers made me think of another dark time in our nations history, the McCarthy era. A time when the people were also terrorized by their government. Lives and careers were ruined by this man's which hunt for communists, hiding under each and every American's bed. Then came the day during the McCarthy hearings that Joseph Welch spoke back to this monster, with the simple phrase, "At long last, have you no sense of decency, sir?" That Moment began McCarthy's downfall.
Now we have a Republican challenging Bush's war power's with a similar moment. Let us hope that history can repeat itself, and now can be the beginning of Bush's downfall. Another bully bites the dust.
I had to make this the topic of my latest cartoon, see it at my website

good job on voter id, brad. Washington's gubernatorial election contest in 2004 featured both sides spending MILLIONS to scour the state for all kinds of visible voter fraud like double voting dead people voting etc, and came up with nothing sufficient to close the gap on a 43 vote race.....
Take a poll, DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR LICENSE IS TODAY? Perhaps 2 percent or 5 percent don't, and they are overwhelmingly Democratic. Thus, voter ID....

It's 8:15 and still not up. No Signal at all.
I guess I'll be trying to catch this archived somewhere. (hopefully something I can actually download on my modem)

JENNIFER BRUNNER'S PLAN and MY NE OH RIGHTWING RAG
New Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has called for using voter rolls to recruit poll workers, which I TOTALLY SUPPORT. My right-wing fishwrap, the Lake County News Herald has a different idea:
http://www.zwire.com/sit...;dept_id=21846&rfi=6
Find a better way to get poll workers
This editorial is deliberately spewing DISINFORMATION:
"Let's also not forget that the ranks of registered voters are slim now because so many choose not to sign up for fear of being called for jury duty. Imagine how much further this would deplete the pool."
Last I checked we had a near RECORD of NEW registered voters in Ohio in 2004!!!
The issued right-wing "talking points" go like this:
It's fraught with pitfalls that include a need to define acceptable hardships to escape responsibility to serve and the inevitable lawsuits that would challenge every facet of the plan.
On top of THAT they think high school students would be better than REGISTERED ADULT VOTERS to run our elections because "This method also could help high school students obtain community service hours for graduation" and "Teens are savvy with technology" despite "The average age of someone who assists voters at the polls is 72".

Sen. Reid says Kerry "got a bad count in Ohio" in 2004 but says he's a "good American" who "pulled the plug" on Ohio. See http://www.tinyurl.com/2exbto
Hey, politicians, these offices are not your PERSONAL PROPERTY, your personal feelings and future career considerations are trumped by the public's need to measure its will properly and determine the consent of the governed properly.
Incredible how Reid now admits Ohio had a bad count yet still thinks its cool not to pursue the truth. Even in the face of recent felony convictions for rigging the presidential recount in Ohio in 2004.

There is no question in my mind that these voting machines are changing the outcomes of many elections. Plus they have the complicity of the major news media to sell their lies of how the vote became what it did.
These monsters are among us, shredding our democracy in tiny pieces. They have Privatized our vote to the Corporate elite, who, with intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this democracy with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twenty-first century came the great deception.
Yes, the Robber Barron's are back, and this time they have locked down the voice of the people with these technological terrors. Now on the eve of what seems to be a democratic victory in the House and Senate, the shadow of these vote eating monsters looms over our greatest hopes for a return to a Jeffersonian democracy. My latest cartoon "The Monster That Ate My Vote" can be seen at my website.

Excellent work, Brad. I was able to listen to much of the show, and you were getting some good information out there through your discussions with callers.
"Baby killers"...It was predictable after the "spitters". Throw a few sleazy allegations (that have kind of an urban legend appeal to susceptible people) out there to spoil the discussion and muddy the issues. As usual, liars and purveyors of sleaze are the most indignant people you will find. Called a baby killer three times...that's a bit overdoing it.
Now can we get rid of DRE's in California?

I met lots of nice people when the group moved over to the studio. I missed parts of the show because we were chatting so much. I hope we can catch it on a link tomorrow.

Didn't even know when it was scheduled and caught it by chance ( time differnces ). I usually listen to the MP3 the next day. There was an add for a child restrainer that I initally thought was for valium. The woman sounded like she needed it. Then those "shills"? you were so patient with finally managed to piss you off just a little and I thought yeah Brad could also use some valium. I'll bet Bush/Cheney have shares in it.
I'm also glad that you are able to deal with the e-voting issue from a non-partizan perspective. Its very easy for people like myself who do not put our real names and faces to the issue to see only the very real partisan aspect of what is happening and shoot our mouths off which is ok sometimes.
However I am glad that you manage to really attack specifics, can keep common ground and focus on the higher ground. You are the leader (te he) so need to do that or our direction will just be negative.
I am still "sort of" working on that page

OK, now I can try to find some links so I can listen to the shows. I miss a lot, being 6 hours ahead of the East Coast and all, but listening to the Bradcast sounds like a great way to spend some time this balmy Prague afternoon, crocuses and myrtle a-blooming out back and all. Funny, I finally pulled the plug on my Christmas tree yesterday. It's currently out back, drying out even further - it will serve wonderfully all summer as kindling for the charcoal in the ole Weber. Great to hear from all these new voices, along with some old and well-missed voices (ahem, Kira!). The Sord seems to be spreading, hooray!

Here's the skam, starting under Reagan: Skyrocket military spending, for the Military Industrial Complex War Profiteers...THEN SAY "Now we have to cut spending on social programs because the deficit is so high." It's high because of MILITARY SPENDING!!! THIS IS THE PLAN!!!
Bush is asking for $245 billion RIGHT NOW for more war, BUT THEN SAYING HE HAS TO CUT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE! START WRITING YOUR CONGRESSMAN THAT WE KNOW THE PLAN!!!
PUT THESE STORIES SIDE BY SIDE:
1. BUSH BEGS FOR $245 BILLION FOR WAR:

2. BUSH SAYS WE HAVE TO CUT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE:

Thanks for that link, JOJ, I need to contact them about my area where Air America was recently dropped for yet another far-right, gag-fest, war-mongering, Liberal-hating station.

Tired of the lies?
I'd like to suggest an alternative to the swirl of corporate propaganda most of us consume every day.
Consider this:
- Both corrupt, corporate controlled parties have allowed 5 CEOs to take control of 80% of our traditional media – TV, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines, Billboards, etc.
- And these same corporations who own the 2 corporate parties, if they have their way, plan to further consolidate their deathgrip over our traditional media, the Internet (by taking away net neutrality which will impact your ability to access this blog), and eliminating local cable access programming and C-SPAN
- There is an alternative, in addition to this excellent blog, to the corrupt, corporate controlled propaganda we experience every minute of every day from cradle to grave
- If you are tired of the endless onslaught of lies, half-truths, and lies of omission
Watch DemocracyNow – An independent Monday through Friday News Hour
- Imagine having daily access to the actual truth!
o 10 minutes of the real headlines of the day
o 50 minutes of in depth truth. Actual facts!
- How do you access DemocracyNow? DemocracyNow is available on:
o FreeSpeechTV (FSTV) – Channel 9415 on DishNetwork Satellite
o LinkTV – Channel 9410 on DishNetwork Satellite
o LinkTV – Channel 375 on DirectTV Satellite
- For more details:

If you had watched DemocracyNow yesterday, here's just the headlines:

I'm recommending DemocracyNow because I'm tired of the lies. DemocracyNow does not show any commercials, so that it can remain independent and insulated from corporate influence. I am a donator to DemocracyNow. If you also appreciate the importance of non-corrupted, non-corporate, non-commercial, independent media, please also consider contributing to DemocracyNow.

Steve:
THANK YOU!
I've been suggesting LINK-TV and Free Speech TV, including Democracy NOW! news, the INN Report (who interviewed Brad once; Lenny Charles), and Libery News.
Get off your ass, dump cable and directv, and get DISH because they offer what we want: channels 9410 LINK-TV and 9415 Free Speech TV.
DirecTV offers only LINK (why don't they offer FSTV?), and cable NOTHING.
DISH is $19.99 for 10 months/120 digital channels, including LINK-TV and FSTV. Cable is $60/month for SHIT! I know, I had it. DISH will go up to 29.99 after 10 months, still about half of cable.
Go with the company that offers WHAT WE WANT!

I had to wait to hear the shows on podcast. Brad, you certainly have the stuff it takes to host your own radio show!
That guy who called to say he thought integrity in elections was a good thing, but he couldn't understand why the Democrats were focusing on it so much suffered from having you on the show. Malloy would have cut him off at the knees. You gave him a little more time to make a fool out of himself, but keep his knees.

Larry Bergan - You know me. Always giving 'em just enough rope
Big Dan - Just FYI, I've been on INN World Report, interviewed by Lenny, probably a half a dozen times or so. You need to watch closer
