Apparently the nipple is old non-news. So too is gay people getting married, I guess.

So it falls to Jesus Christ to rise from the grave yet again! This time to feed the voracious news beast! And, Christ, could I not care less!

This is NOT a news story! No matter how much the Right Wing Media try to make it so.

Here’s the deal: There is no controversy. The “Liberal Media” has not tried to keep the movie from being seen. Hollywood is not shaking in it’s boots about “what the success of this movie might mean!” The Gospel Truth is nobody gives a crap!

There are a few Jewish Scholars who may have concerns about the film’s Anti-Semetic undertones. (Disclaimer: I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know if such concerns are justified or not. Haven’t seen any Mel Gibson movie, now that I think about it, since the awesome and glorious Galipoli (1981). Go see that, by the way!) But anyone with a real concern is smart enough to know that if they just shut up, this movie will soon enough just go away.

Only Fox and “Friends” see this as a story, and of course even they know better.

It seems to me that they actually think they are really pissing off the “Liberal Left” by making a story out of this molehill, panting about it’s big opening numbers, and creating a false idol out of the poor beseiged millionaire, Gibson.

Guess what? We – on the “Liberal Left” – couldn’t give a flyin’ crap. It’s a movie. For Christians. For the love of Christ, can we please get back to nipple stories again? Thank you.

If you’re capable of setting aside the fact that Jim Caviezel IS NOT Jesus, then you’ll probably come away with the fact that THE PASSION isn’t a good film.

It’s historically inaccurate (Pilate was a cruel dictatorial governor who quelled dissent with the sword). It mixes Gospels (a huge catholic no-no) is brutally violent and has no dramatic arc whatsoever.

Yes Hollywood creates and praises violent films. But Roger Ebert doesn’t appear in Church’s all across the land guilting you into watching Kill Bill.

It was well shot…but every characterization, with the exception of Mary and Pilate (Pontious the merciful?), have any depth.

    > It’s historically inaccurate

You need to read the Bible first before you can make that statement.

The last thing you wanna do is get into a Biblical bake-off with me, buddy.

Are you telling me that that Caiphas was strong enough to dictate policy to his Roman overlord?

In The Passion, the Jews were eating Leavened bread. Is that accurate?

The Garden of Gethsemane was neither a garden nor in Gethsemane.

Its not worth discussing the bible with someone like you. Just because you have an (R) after your name doesn’t make you a biblical authority and definitely not a historical one. But hey, who needs facts when you have truth, right?

Of course, the world is 6000 years old and man was made out of clay and woman a rib. I mean who needs science and history when I got the Bible.

Gethsemane was an olive garden on Mt. Olivet about half a mile from the temple. They were eating unleavened bread.
    Here is one for you:

    > who needs science and history when I got the Bible

Christians gave us science because they believed in the creator and natural law. Christians also believed in education so that the bible could be read, therefore, 123 of the first 126 schools in America were Christian schools – Yale, Harvard, Princeton, etc. All of that has changed now.

"Christians gave us science because they believed in the creator and natural law"

Are these the same Christians that said that God put dinosaur bones to test our faith?

"Christians also believed in education so that the bible could be read"
Huh? Block print was developed by the Chinese hundreds of years prior to Gutenberg.

Pylemy and Pythagorous beat Jesus to the punch in the field of Astronomy. The Science inventing Christians had no use for the discoveries of Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo.

Oh, and the field of medicine wasn’t discovered by Christians until thousands of years after the Greeks, Muslims, Indians, Chinese, and Ancient Egyptians.

Loved your laundry list of bible passages…is that from the 1st Christian Bible…the 1st Western Christian Bible, The Vulgate Bible? Does that include Mark 16 which wasnt in any bible until 450 bc? Im sure these quotes you bring up came up after the Council of Chalcedon, 4th ecumenical when the early catholic church decided that Jesus was man AND God.
Maybe you believe Nestorius’ version of the bible that believed Mary was ‘not’ the mother of God.
Maybe you just decided to ignore any and all books that some pope decided not to be in their version of the bible.
Maybe you believe in the accuracy of the telephone game, because thats the way the stories of Christ were passed down for 50 years before someone decided to write them down.
Or maybe you just discovered biblegateway and finding passages is a whole lot easier than wrapping your pea sized brain around the fact that the history of Christianity is a lot more complicated and politically charged than your minister would have you believe.

Oh and there are still Christian Schools…like George Bush’s favorite Bob Jones University. You know Bob Jones U. Thats the one that frowns on white women having little ni–er babies. Love that Christian education.

    > It’s a movie. For Christians.

    For all of mankind

    > like George Bush’s favorite Bob Jones University

Bob Jones University and people like Pat Robertson do not speak for all Christians.
