Brad welcomes Paul Rieckhoff … an incredible American Patriot with an incredible story … actually I’m exaggerating a bit: he’s VERY CREDIBLE and that’s one of the things that makes it so easy — and so important — to listen to him.

We’re really supporting the troops by listening to them and we’re also reading some of them … you will certainly enjoy this link to Paul’s blog at Huffington Post.

Brad sounding great — miss you too!

      Hi Winter!

Dropping out a bit — which I believe is a software problem. Will talk with you about that issue post-show!

Hey All! I tuned in a few minues ago — show sounds great for me. No drop-outs yet.

I got home from a vacation to find that the infamous duhbya made a trip to my hometown while I was gone. You know I was totally disturbed I missed taking my sign downtown to greet him.

Paul is right to say the Dems aren’t doing much for the troops, but realistically they can’t do that much they’re out of power.

Even Republicans are fair game. The last Republican chairman of the Armed Forces committee called out the administration for not supporting the troops and he lost his chairmanship. Now we’ve got Duncan "rice pilaf" Hunter.

Thanks Peg C. Now that I’ve switched over to winamp, no drop outs at all! Maybe it’s my system? All the feedback really helps.

Isn’t Paul Rieckhoff wonderful? What important information he is sharing with us.

Maybe it’s because I wasted my wonder years watching too much sports on TV, but I always think I can spot the good guys … because when they do an interview and the interviewer says "thanks for being with us", the good guys say "thanks for having me on" … I haven’t heard anybody say that in a long time but it was one of the first things Paul said to Brad tonight.

Thanks again to Paul Rieckhoff … a really good guy!

I don’t know jack about how to prosecute a war, devise and exit strategy, but the first couple of things I’d do…

      1) Secure the borders, no more foreign fighters getting in
      2) Train the troops and military outside Iraq.
      3) Get middle eastern troops to help secure the country. I think Egypt offered help in the past.
      4) Give people basic utilities like electricity and clean water.

I could go on and on. But to me all the violence going on in Iraq is planned chaos so companies like Halliburton can steal Iraq’s resources.

Nice work Brad — very important questions!

David Dixon is a very kind soul —

Down with Diebold! I agree. Crooks and Liars!

    17. 51)
Kat said on 7/23/2005 @ 2:29pm PT: [Permalink]

In May 2000, Diebold, a maker of automated teller machines, agreed to pay the National Federation of the Blind $1 million to help build a new research and training institute. The money was offered in exchange for the NFB agreeing to drop a lawsuit it filed against Diebold for installing ATMs inaccessible to blind customers, when technology for making the machines accessible was available. The NFB also formed a partnership with Diebold to help the company develop and market accessible ATM machines — an agreement that later extended to the company’s touch-screen voting systems.

The NFB, which calls itself "the voice of the nation’s blind," then used the Americans with Disabilities Act to file lawsuits against banks not using accessible ATMs. It later sued two states to force them to upgrade or obtain e-voting machines — while a debate about the security and reliability of such systems was growing nationwide.

The NFB and its state affiliates have also advised states and the federal government on accessible voting issues and pushed for legislation regarding such systems without disclosing the group’s relationship to Diebold. James Gashel, the NFB’s lobbyist who testified on e-voting in congressional hearings in 2001, said most of the testimony and advising were done in 2000 and 2001, before Diebold entered the domestic voting business in 2002.

      http://www.wired.com/news/evote...,65292,00.html

Diebold Elections Systems is currently run by Bob Urosevich who has worked in the election systems industry since 1976. In 1979, Mr. Urosevich founded American Information Systems. He served as the President of AIS from 1979 through 1992, and that company, now known as Election Systems & Software, Inc., counted over 100 million ballots in the U.S. 2000 General Election.

nonbeliever said on 7/23/2005 @ 2:33pm PT: [Permalink]

Are there any electronic voting machine companies that can be trusted?

      1) Diebold’s CEO pledged to deliver Ohio to idiot boy
      2) Chuck Hagel got elected on voting machines from ES&S, a company that he ran.
      3) Triad support techs took apart vote tabulating machines during the Ohio recount like it wasn’t a big deal.

Who else is out there? Which technology can we trust?

Peg C. — WHY NOT Braille ballots? Total Privacy for the blind.

SCREW Diebold. I had followed the Diebold money to NFB. Dirty, dirty, dirty — just like the entire ‘CON bunch.

      Kudos to David Dixon.

Winter Patriot said on 7/23/2005 @ 2:54pm PT: [Permalink]

Why not audio ballots? Or why not braille ballots with audio feedback? These are not wild ideas. They could be implemented fairly easily… I mean, if we can do this, we should be able to make it easy for blind people to vote. for crying out loud!

    22. 65)
Kira said on 7/23/2005 @ 2:54pm PT: [Permalink]

Let’s face it – nothing is really done that benefits the VOTERS. We don’t really matter. What matters is that the THUGS stay in power. Braille ballots won’t help in that endeavor.

I stay so ANGRY!!! On my vacation I got to watch Free Speech TV (satellite.) It’s unbelievable how much news is kept from We The People.

It’s not clear to me Peg whether the retribution you mentioned in #79 was fact or speculation … but it does seem clear that whenever an undercover agent is outed, everyone who has ever worked with [or even near] said agent would be in grave danger.

Talk about multi-tasking!!! I’ll have to check out wireless headphones, not that I’m going to use them while exposed to mossies in the semi-dark, as you seem to have been doing!!!!

Maine was my 2 weeks of paradise. Hope you had a good vacation too.

Yes, Larisa is so great. I was interested to hear her opinion on London bombings, bec. she has a lot of Brit. insight based on DSM work and Mick Smith connections. Her answer flew by too fast so I’ll have to listen again. I think she indicated that the American press "knew" some details about the attacks before the Brits (although the details weren’t correct). I don’t know if you remember, but one of our exchanges on a Brad thread was at the point where I became convinced about 9-11 being an inside job. Twilight Zone– remember? Just recently read some very convincing reports about the physical impossibility of all of those cell phone calls having been placed from the flight that crashed in PA. Didn’t need to be a structural engineer to understand that!!!!

Notice this. Every Republican interviewed on Traitorgate uses it as a chance to bash Amb. Wilson and confuse the issue.

Brad and Jim are doing a great job focusing on the actual impact of outing a CIA agent. Joe Wilson is not under investigation here. The idiot boy’s administration is.

The August issue of Harpers has a great article on the vote fraud, "None dare call it stolen" by Mark Crispin Miller. It actually has some information I was not aware of. Sadly, I cannot find it on line. If anybody does PLEASE post it.

One passage that caught my eye:

"Concerning the decisive contest in Ohio, the evidence is lucidly compiled in a single congressional report, which for the last half-year, has been available to anyone inclined to read it. It is a veritable arsenal of "smoking guns" — and yet its findings may be less extraordinary than the fact that no one in the country seems to care about them."

The most memorable quote of her segment, for me, was: "The only way we’re gonna get change is with street heat!"

First runner-up: "We didn’t fight hard enough, the Democratic strategy wasn’t good enough, and we goofed!"

Many thanks to Brad for having Rep. Waters on the show … and thanks to C-SPAN for covering her forum … we will be watching the listings to see when it will be broadcast … somebody will post a link, won’t they? 🙂

Sorry to fling it into the open thread like that, but I’m sick to my stomach over it.

Brad, kickass show, man! This is the first one I’ve caught all the way through, but I am hooked. Thanks for doing way more than your part, all of you!

But seriously, that’s a very powerful post … I wouldn’t be surprised if certain people started whispering about it some day in the near future …

Charles in Vermont mentioned the Harper’s article mentioned in #133. "None Dare Call it Stolen" COVER STORY!
We should all BUY copies of the rag. I just bought mine. We should have this cover story copy around our houses! We should have the Harpers people saying "Damn, that’s the most magazines we’ve sold in years!" We should also link to it and copy it, but be sure to support journalists who are making the connection! Pass this idea around, y’all. And another pat on the bag to Bernie and my guys here in Music City. Some of the folks that testified at the Nashional Election Reform Conference were quoted, and the author, Mark Crispin Miller, was listening as the guests spoke in Nashville back in April.
Keep focused on the election theft y’all. We gotta bust the guys who did it and insure they can’t do it again. Work both sides of the fence, y’all.
      ahhhh… I feel better…

Robert Lockwood Mills said on 7/24/2005 @ 12:15am PT: [Permalink]

My son-in-law gave me a copy. Mark Crispin Miller’s article argues for a stolen election, but it could have been even stronger than it was.

He just scratches the surface when it comes to the exit poll/tabulated vote discrepancies, and doesn’t have a lot to say about the voting machine companies and their links to Republican politics. He never mentions Ukraine, and the hypocrisy of American statesmen lecturing to Russians about their election problems.

But he’s tough on the mainstream media for ridiculing objections to the election. It’s a valuable article, even if nobody in the red states will ever read it.

    67. 173)
Shannon Williford said on 7/24/2005 @ 2:08am PT: [Permalink]

And let’s not forget that the Harpers story at least puts us on the cover of a mainstream recognized magazine, which is a first since the election, and that all of us should make sure that America is aware of this. If Americans become aware of it, they can then look more at the exit polls, vote machine companies, etc…
      Keep punchin’ away folks.

Joan #175 You need to post long links as follows:

      [a href="Your_Long_Link_Here.html" target="_blank"]Your statement here[/a]

Replace each "[" and "]" with a "" accordingly and it will be there.

Otherwise it changes the width of the column for all posts in a thread …

      Big Brother

This link, focused on by Raw Story, indicates that there is a call for cameras to be used more and more.

The ones that need to be watched are the criminals in government, so they should first be installed in the WH and the congress.

That is one thing that would defuse the temptation.

Good morning you guys! Here comes my rant for the day.

RLM — don’t we all live in PURPLE states? Don’t we really believe that if the votes were counted accurately Kerry would be president now?

I live in a BLUE county in a (publicized) red state. I don’t believe it is really red, although there are an AWFUL lot of dumbass republicans here. But, hey — they listen to the regular news stations without option to get the Free Speech channel so they don’t even know what is being kept from them. They’ve been brainwashed just like the people of 1930s Germany. That’s what is so scary to me.

This admin. is using the same tactic of fear to get people behind their flag-waving fascist/theocratic movement and unless they can hear the truth (which is being kept out of the news) they won’t know what happened until it’s too late. Just like 1930s Germany. The average citizen of this country is being brainwashed.

This administration tells us it is protecting us from terrorists by taking away our personal freedom & rights (biometric ID cards number each one of us & we are searched by the policia if we try to travel — think about it — ) however, our borders are not being protected at all — there’s a flood of illegals coming across daily. There has been no effort to increase employment at national parks which are bordered by the ocean. In at least one case 80 miles for a solitary park ranger to patrol each day. Haha. Our personal freedom is vanishing and WE are being policed. If there is a real terror threat WHY are our borders unprotected? Think about it.

Follow the history of this country – go back and study Manifest Destiny, the Roosevelt Corrolary to the Monroe Doctrine, Operation Northwoods (J.F.K.’s term) and The New Pearl Harbor (PNAC) and now 9/11. Everything falls into place and anybody who can read between the lines will understand.

Many thanks to RLM for pointing out the Monroe Doctrine several weeks ago which helped me to understand the current administration’s plans for agression and march toward US Imperialism. I was amazed at how many catch-words & phrases were lifted from these old documents and are now used to pepper the admin’s daily propaganda.

Again, I’m sorry. What I meant was, "Nobody in the red states will read the Harper’s article because Harper’s Magazine isn’t found in the red states."

But it came out as, "Nobody in the red states would care enough to read it." I’m usually better with words than that…but in this instance I screwed up.

    75. 188)
Kira said on 7/24/2005 @ 9:45am PT: [Permalink]

I wasn’t offended either, RLM! Sorry if it came off that way and I’m really sorry I made you think I was offended with you. ((please forgive!))

My rant was inspired by all the studying I’ve been doing (and RLM started me off into the direction of the Monroe Doctrine.) AND because it’s hard for us to continually remember (myself included) that the RED states we saw on sElection night were media creations — we’ve got lots and lots of people (more than what the skewed polls & propagandized media consistently show to Americans) who are against this regime & on our side. Now, I believe, even more than before. Therefore, the states must be getting even more purple. I’ve got faith – just hope it’s not too late for us to stop the next planned "terrorist" attack.

Brad said on 7/24/2005 @ 10:59am PT: [Permalink]

For the record, RLM – The Harper’s article by Mark Crispin Miller was excerpted from his full book to be published in October (if I remember correctly).

So whatever wasn’t covered adequately in the article was probably due to the fact that is was just an excerpt from the full book.

It is with deep demureness, that I resubmit my question from last evening in its completed form. I realize it is too little, too late for the guest, and in other ways too premature.

However, has anyone wondered about the following question? What will happen if Fitzgerald indicts all in the Administration on treason, obstruction of justice, etc., and they are found guilty? If this administration ignores that fact and keeps marching on in lockstep, ignoring it? Who is going to lock them up?

(Buzzflash is advertising a political film called "Z". I read the review, which is just too much like the current political scene.)

Thanks for the clarification, Brad. Since reading the excerpt from Mark Crispin Miller’s book, I went back and read Harper’s more thoroughly.

Lewis H. Lapham (editor) has a scathing editorial about the Bush regime, and about the lapdog treatment it has gotten from the mainstream media. Compulsory reading for everyone…and for those who can’t find Harper’s, I’ll volunteer as postal conduit for anyone who sends me his or her mailing address. See below.
