Wow. I used to cringe when he tiptoed through the tulips on Laugh-In, but this is mesmerizing. Why didn't Rowan and Martin let us see the good stuff?

Kids usually go for the crazy, but this time they look a little freaked out.
Quite a performance.

I'd imagine those kids were INCREDIBLY freaked out! I know I'd have been!

Only someone very old with nothing better to do would take the time to point out that the album version is FAR superior:

Or that his version of "Great Balls of Fire" is ... um ... unequaled:

Hoosey Whatsis -
You're not wrong about the studio version! It is pretty awesome. (And, curiously, Rocky Horror Picture-like!) Though, the terror that he must have struck into those kids on the TV set is still worth its weight in melted ice caps.
The tune that auto-played following it on YouTube, btw, was "Ever Since You Told Me That You Love Me (I'm A Nut)" and was pretty baddass too!
Loved the "Great Balls of Fire", which led me to a Morton Downey Jr. interview with TT!
In any event. I've official got a new found love for Tiny Tim! Thanks for sharing the links!

I hope that black guy who was dancing in the background on "Great Balls of Fire" got nicely compensated for giving himself whiplash, repeatedly. Never seen anybody move like that before.
YouTube is a great way to catch up on things you never got a chance to see when they happened.
I think I'll see if I can find any footage of Pat Paulson running for president. One funny guy.
