I wonder if it has anything to do with starting wars/building up the military. Nixon had his secret plan to get out of Vietnam which included an escalation and expansion into neighboring countries, Reagan had the biggest expansion of the military which included putting vast quantities in the sinkhole that is nuclear weapons, Bush 1 and 2 started wars in the middle east. That's just the stuff that's on the books, and not including all the CIA operations. I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers would even out a bit if we included the CIA operations. Dems just aren't as obvious about their projection of power.

Don't get me wrong. In a sane reality an increase in government spending at this point would, of course, be the order of the day.

"There you go again," Brad, confusing the issue with fact.

Big government, especially the Bush forms of government, are expensive as Brad's graph points out.
On September 10, 2001, the Secretary of Defense reported that the Pentagon had misplaced $2.3 trillion dollars:
* That’s $23,000 for every US household,* embezzling $1,000,000 from a military project 2,300,000 times,
*embezzling a million dollars a day for 6,300 years,
*embezzling over 600 million dollars a day, every day, for ten years.
(Examiner).
On the next day an alleged airliner hit the Pentagon at the location where auditors were trying to follow that money.
As it turns out, 80% of the attackers were from Saudi Arabia, and were bankrolled by Saudi Arabian royalty.
At least according to a lawsuit in the Manhattan District federal court in New York, wherein, Saudi Arabia is being sued by many insurance companies and victim families.

Attribution, Brad?
A good reporter and website manager like you knows how annoying it is to get your stuff quoted without attribution. So, why no attribution on this very interesting graphic? As nearly as I can tell, here's the link to where it was first published:
