Zogby: Gore Leads ‘Top-Tier’ Democratic Candidates by Huge Margin in New ‘Blind Bio’ Poll

Share article:

Last week we reported that a CBS poll finds Al Gore trailing Hilary Clinton by just 5% in the Presidential Primary race and is ahead of all of the others, even though he’s not officially on the ballot.

Last month we reported that a Zogby “blind bio” poll of Republicans found that some unknown guy — Ward Casscells — who’s not even running, led the Republican candidate field among GOP voters when no names, just summarized resumes, were given for each candidate polled.

Yesterday, Zogby released the results of their Democratic “blind bio” poll, showing that Al Gore is, hands down, in front of the pack with 35% support. His closest rival was Hillary Clinton at 24%.

Also in the poll, 60% of Dem voters would consider voting for someone other than the current slate of candidates, based on dissatisfaction with the positions on the Iraq War by the current official crop. 65% said they’d be open to supporting a new candidate based on the current candidates’ global climate change positions…

Zogby Poll: Al Gore Leads Top Tier Dems in ‘Blind Bio’ Poll

Survey finds most Democratic likely voters would consider a new candidate given the current field’s views on Iraq and global climate change

A Zogby International “blind bio” telephone poll shows that former Vice President Al Gore is favored over the current Democratic frontrunners by likely Democratic Party voters nationwide ““ particularly among liberal Democrats.

When Democratic likely voters were given brief biographical descriptions of the top three Democratic candidates ““ New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards ““ along with the biography of Gore, the former Vice President won 35% support, while Clinton won 24%, Obama won 22%, and Edwards trailed with 10% support. Gore’s bio was the top choice of both men (39%) and women (31%), and also most favored by younger voters. Self-described liberal Democrats strongly favored Gore’s bio (43%) over Clinton (21%), Edwards (17%) and Obama (12%). The bio selections of moderate Democrats closely mirror the choices of likely Democratic voters overall, with 36% giving the greatest preference to Gore’s bio.

I was just listening to the Naomi Wolf interview on Randi Rhodes a little bit ago, and right before it Randi was saying she thought Biden had won last night’s debate, but that she wasn’t supporting any one candidate per se… except if Gore would declare. Then she thinks the rest of them just go home… something like that.

I’m thinking a bigger deal hasn’t been made up till now because people figured he’d just declare, but we’re getting scared that he really is not going to run.

Whatever negatives there are with him, he’s head and shoulders above all the rest. Hands down best one for the job right now.

Gore is no stranger to the internet and is probably more aware, maybe even privy, to what’s going on with voting machines and the bush mess.

Thanks, Brad, for mentioning the Zogby poll. I think it is clear that many Americans want to re-elect President Gore. One way to show that support is to vote for Gore as a write-in candidate on the Democracy for America Pulse Poll. Gore is currently second in that poll even though writing him in takes a few more steps than just choosing one of the announced candidates.

So, folks, please go to this link and write in Al — and pass the word far and wide. This DFA Pulse Poll ends on November 5.

He IS the best man for the job. If ever we needed his experience and wisdom, it is now. Would you please get in the race, Mr. Gore? (He did post here once… maybe.) We need you to help get our country back on track, and save us from these dangerous imbeciles. I know it would be an inconvenience :-), but please?

Just exactly how do you do a “blind bio” of Al Gore? “We can’t tell you who he is but he’s a former Vice President who’s authored several best selling books and won an Oscar and a Nobel Prize?”

I give up — Dan Quayle?

I’m not sure why people think Al Gore is going to swoop in and save us from the madness.

Al Gore must be looked at as 2 people, the civilian and the politician. As a civilian he is popular and says nice things but as a politician well can’t we find dirt on him. Doesn’t Google produce questions of weirdness that went down during the 2000 takeover. Al’s lawyers did some funny stuff, maybe not as funny as Bush’s coup de tat, but funny none the less. Also didn’t Gore decide to just support Bush after it was clear that there was to much funny business going on and Al wasn’t going to win after all. Maybe everyone is on his side because we all feel sorry for him cause he won but didn’t get in to the white house. Regardless Al is wasting everyone’s energy, He had his chance and like Kerry decided to shut up for the good of the country.
Maybe if he had some bigger balls back then Bush wouldn’t have caused 911 and tortured and killed thousands in the mideast, blind support of a dictator because its good for the country has not been good for the country.

Well to me there is only one candidate who is going to swoop in and save us from the madness, and it ain’t a Democrat no matter how weird that is—-Ron Paul

I strongly disagree with you. Ron Paul, yeah right. No republican is going to win, unless they cheat again (a lot).

Yeah and I’m sick of people acting like the democrats are the shit. There is no difference between the two parties.

I’ve felt for a long time that the Dems would clean up this mess caused by Bush and Co, but guess what,, they say one thing and do another.

Is that not important to you?

Ron Paul has got Balls, look at any speech he has given, youtube it.

The lessons learned from this go around with the Dems is that Nancy P, the savior, won’t even put impeachment on the table. The dems say what we want to hear and then fund the fucking war. I’m sick of it. The republicans will come right out front and let you know they are ass holes, but the Dems, man they got a good scam going.

This isn’t sports were you support your team no matter how bad they lose. The last thing I thought I would be doing would be to vote republican after all of the crap that has come from them over the years. Obviously you haven’t listened to Ron Paul, he wants to end the war, change our foreign policy, abolish the IRS, etc, etc. The other republican candidates might as well be vomiting shit from their mouths and aren’t worth a damn. But look at the Dems, Hillary -a war monger, Obama (who I voted for when he ran for senate) hasn’t done anything impressive and would still fund the war, the others don’t count cause Hillary will prob be the candidate.

And yes the Repubs will cheat, duh, but so will the democrats as they are getting money from the places the repubs get it from. The Person with the most money will prob be the one to try and tweak the system, ie:Hillary. But does it even matter if the vote system is tweaked when all of the major candidates are bought and sold like cheap meat?

My point about Gore is that all of the energy from the liberals/pro peace/anti Bush crowd is going to be wasted on him cause it feels like a trap. Hmmm the message from our corporate whore candidates isn’t going over with the liberals then what about Gore, he was a good servant. Gore “the politician” had his chance. He could’ve led the revolution. He could’ve had some of the largest protests ever when he got the shaft from an illegal decision. What did he do?? What did he say?? Did he fall in line when the master said so? We the people DO NOT RUN THIS COUNTRY and no dog and pony show being created by the political elite is going to change this. That is why there is no difference between the 2 parties, they may say different things and have different opinions but they all fall into step when the elite speak, Al Gore included.

Ron Paul However, is a constitutionalist. He is a politician so obviously he is not perfect but when was the last time you heard ANYONE say the things he says. And I’m including Kucinich, Gore, or whoever.

The main question though is what will these people do when they don’t win, are they going to follow in step with their party or the new Prez for the good of the country or will they stand up for what they beleive is right.

Look at Ron Paul’s voting record to see if he walked in step with the other republicans

Look at Kucinich to see if he walked in step with the other Dems.

And finally don’t hate on me cause you think I’m a repub, like Colbert I don’t see color, race,or political affiliation

I couldn’t disagree more. And mind you, I’m no fan of the Democrats these days.

Here here !! I’ll drink to that (Gore for Prez). This is the best pre-election “good” news I’ve heard so far. I’m sick and tired of having our minds made-up “for us” with the limitations of the “chosen ones” being offered to us so far. With all this crap going on in DC — Iraq , the Dems not harnessing Bush and the Constitution in the trash can , we need Gore more than ever.
