Ed,
Do you ever really think about what you say? Chaney basically told voters that if they vote Democrat, they're responsible for future terror attacks against the US. That's a horrific thing to say.
But that's nothing new for this fundamentalist radical administration. Anything for a win, damn the health of the Republic.

Teddy,
Not only is it horrific, but it's horse manure. Did the terrorists not attack the first time while a republican was in power?

I will get serious for a minute. Are you telling me Kerry wouldn't sell his mother to win?? I don't believe it he wants to win any less than Bush. I think what Cheney was trying to say is if we go back to a pre 911 mentality then that danger does exist. If Kerry is elected we would get to that point much quicker than if Bush is re-elected. Was his choice of words poor? To say the very least, hence the retraction. This won't be near enough of an admission to please any of you but I never will. I can't wait for the Cheney/Edwards debate if it happens. Will this change anyones mind as to how they will vote. I doubt it.

Cut us some slack Johanna. Bush had been in office 8 months. You can't do anything in 8 months despite claims to the contrary by JFK Jr. Everythings going to be perfect just as soon as HE gets into office. I think I will go vomit now. Move over Johanna.

ed,
you cant do anything in the first 8 months if you spent a month of it on vacation. What about doing something about those memos titled "bin Laden determined to attack"?

Ed,
Nobody said anything about Kerry being perfect. Please feel free to prove me wrong.
What you fail to recognize, is that this is all about a lying President and a war that never had to happen. To elect him again means you haven't learned from your mistakes.
To elect him again, means you believe everything you're told. To elect him again, means that the blood of ANY future murders and deaths that should happen in the name of this "war on terror" (God forbid) is on YOUR hands. It's time you grew up , took some responsibility and realized what's at stake here.
This isn't about winning or losing. If you ask me, too much has been lost already. Are you willing to actually do something to prevent future loss? Are you?

Whats the difference who the President is. The soldiers will be just as dead. I happen to believe we do need to be there. Do I want to see us out as soon as possible? Yes I do. But we were justified in being there. Being there is not a mistake. The blood is on the hands of the people who continue to attack our soldiers. I am not going on this guilt trip with you Johanna.
johnhp- What memos?? Show me one.

Ed- You need to grow a new heart. If stem cell research takes off, please think about getting a new one. In the meantime, I might just call you Tinman. If you're wondering why, its because of this: "The soldiers will be just as dead".
As for the rest of your post. Let's have a conversation. No guilt trip intended, just reality. Tell me why you think the US need to be in Iraq. Tell me why they needed to be there after 9/11 and why they still need to be there today. While you're at it, tell me who is "continuing to attack our soldiers". I'm curious about this.
And I have just one more question for you (no guilt trip, just a question). Have you ever lost anyone REALLY close to you? I've lost two. Really close. As close as it gets. Have you?

Oz never did give nothin' to the Tinman.
Hussein needed to be removed. If for no other reason than the fact he was killing his own people (a fact you all seem to choose to ignore). Just because we didn't find WMD doesn't mean they aren't there.
We need to be there now to restore order. Leaving there now would leave the Iraquis to kill each other. I am not under the illusion that Kerry will clean up this mess any quicker than Bush will.
There are links to Hussein and 9/11. Paul has posted them here before. Not that you will be satisfied with that
Do you want names of who is attacking our soldiers?? I can't help you.
Your last question is irrelevant. But I do have 2 close friends who either have someone there now or will be there in the next 6 months.

Now we're talking!! Are you ready? Here's my response!
"Hussein needed to be removed. "
Let me humour you for a moment. Hussein needed to be removed. Granted. It was YOUR duty as Americans to remove him. For multiple reasons. Great. So he's gone. So......why is the war still going on? How come 847 Americans have died since his "removal".
"If for no other reason than the fact he was killing his own people (a fact you all seem to choose to ignore)."
Watch it there cowboy. Your assumption is VERY wrong. But if he was killing his own people and we are saying this is wrong (which it is), by taking his place and killing his people, Bush is just as wrong. Do you get it?
"Just because we didn't find WMD doesn't mean they aren't there."
Ok. So when you finally turn the ENTIRE country inside out and still find nothing - will you give up this wild goose chase then? When do you think it's okay to give up?
"We need to be there now to restore order."
What order? Order to what? Have you been to Iraq? How chaotic do you think it is? How do you suggest you "restore" order? Other than diminishing their population...
"Leaving there now would leave the Iraquis to kill each other."
*cough, cough, cough, cough*
I'm sorry - what?! Where the HELL did you get this looney idea?
"I am not under the illusion that Kerry will clean up this mess any quicker than Bush will. "
What mess? The mess you're trying to bring "order" to?
"There are links to Hussein and 9/11. Paul has posted them here before."
.....I must have been sleeping cause I have never seen Paul make an accurate point.
"Do you want names of who is attacking our soldiers?? I can't help you."
Why not? Just tell me who? Iraqi civilians? Who? Bin Laden? Saddam? Iran? Who is attacking your soldiers?
"Your last question is irrelevant. "
Actually it's not. I think you may start to realize the repercussions of this war when you realize how the families of those 20,000 civilians and 1000 soldiers are feeling. They their loved ones died pointlessly.

Nobody ignores it. Except for Ronald Reagan, Bush I and Bush II. They didn't give a damn about him "killing his own people". They didn't care at the time he was doing it, and they didn't care when they invaded Iraq this time.
If they did, they'd also have invaded Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwaiit, Libya, North Korea, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, etc., etc. etc....All who are killing "their own people" and most at a MUCH more alarming rate than Saddam had done for over a decade (back when we gave him the WMD's to do so!)
"Just because we didn't find WMD doesn't mean they aren't there."
And just because the earth looks round in sattelite photos, doesn't mean it isn't flat!
Keep dreaming, Ed.
"There are links to Hussein and 9/11."
Name one. A single one.
Please note you'd be in complete contradiction with every single government agency, committee or investigative panel who's ever answered that question.
"Paul has posted them here before."
Ah! Well, there's a good source! I guess you'll have to inform him how every single agency, committee or investigative panel that has ever existed disagrees with Paul.
But keep your head in the sand as you like. With the things you believe in (or convince yourself to believe in) I'd have to keep my head - deep! - in the sand to to keep from hating myself.

You know what else Ed? The more I read your psot, the more I conclude that you believe the Iraqi people are savages who need civilized people like you to rescue them from killing each other and to bring order to their lives.
It's sad. The book 1984 could very have been called 2004.

ed,
"johnhp- What memos?? Show me one."
First, you have got to be the most uninformed person i have met since Paul if you have no idea what i am talking about. let me quote the post that seems to find you bewildered: "What about doing something about those memos titled "bin Laden determined to attack"?"
i wonder where i could have gotten that?
"The memo, titled "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S.," had been described by the White House as a largely historical document with scant information about domestic al Qaeda threats."
What was in those memos?
Highlights of the report include:
• An intelligence report received in May 2001 indicating that al Qaeda was trying to send operatives to the United States through Canada to carry out an attack using explosives. That information had been passed on to intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
• An allegation that al Qaeda had been considering ways to hijack American planes to win the release of operatives who had been arrested in 1998 and 1999.
• An allegation that bin Laden was set on striking the United States as early as 1997 and through early 2001.
• Intelligence suggesting that suspected al Qaeda operatives were traveling to and from the United States, were U.S. citizens, and may have had a support network in the country.
• A report that at least 70 FBI investigations were under way in 2001 regarding possible al Qaeda cells/terrorist-related operations in the United States.
Ongoing investigations described as historical. Interesting.
