I have long been intrigued by the links between voting machine companies and defense contractors. I found a few more articles that were not cited the other the day.
http://www.projectcensor...publications/2005/6.html
The above cite says, "In 1999 the Justice Department filed federal charges against Sequoia alleging that employees paid out more than 8 million dollars in bribes." and "Diebold has now taken steps to use an outside organization, Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC) of San Diego, to take responsibility for security issues within their software. But this presents yet another conflict of interest. A majority of officials on the board are former members of either the Pentagon or the CIA, many of whom are closely allied with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld."
Also, from http://www.corpwatch.org...pe&type=24&all=1
"From satellites that can photograph postage stamps from space to covert operatives who are searching for Osama bin Laden, private companies now help run much of the clandestine services for organizations like the Central Intelligence Agency. For example Science Applications International Corporation of San Diego, California, is designing the eavesdropping software for the National Security Agency in the United States to monitor phones, faxes and email."
http://www.madcowprod.com/11242004.html. This site talks about how Sequoia uses front companies.

Ooooh yeah - that'll be great! And how bout' the new season of American Idol! Whoa - some great entertainment on the horizon. Let's all follow Lieberman's advice - Don't worry, Be happy! All this fretting about stolen elections, invading Iran, SNAFU in Iraq, and dozens of other things are giving me an ulcer. Wouldn't it be nice to just go to a nice beach somewhere, crack open a cold beer, and just stick your head in the sand? Sometimes I wish I wasn't burdened with the curiosity and knowledge I have. So many others aren't - Oh how I envy them for their ignorance. I'm probably just in a malaise about Judge Yuri's decision. Though I may wish I could relax, I sure as hell am not going to give up the fight! Viva Revolucion!!!

I am with you. I wish I could go back to the time when I was not curious about politics or knew how things really work in this country. I used to be very naive and blissfully happy. I long for that time, but know that those times will never again exist. I don't know how my intelligent friends can be angry about what is happening in this country, yet not lift a finger to effectuate change.

#1 Laura,
Thanks for that link. What an odd last sentence to that article:
"... If he does it, Charlie Sheen just might end up getting very very rich."
I suspect he's already pretty comfortable. I would think the point might be getting some truth out there, or at least some questions that sorely need answering!

Dunno if you knew about the recent ePluribus Media pieces regarding the ties between Lieberman and the GOP. It appears that "Joe" is very important to the GOP.
The New Haven Independent picked up the "Sealed with a KISS: Strange Bedfellows --- Lieberman and the GOP" from CTNewsJunkie and posted a link to the full story as it appears on ePluribus Media.
The story is beginning to draw a fairly interesting an diverse crowd of readers.
Nushell: a trail of IP addresses appears to link various elements together and straight back to a GOP front operation, including an element consisting of a new domain --- "ISupportJoe" --- that was registered BEFORE the CT-Sen primary.
Latest piece is here:

I wonder if the folks in Ohio will work over the holiday weekend to destroy the ballots from the 2004 election on Sunday the 3rd of September when they are allowed to.
Eager as they are to destroy the evidence of their crimes, I can't imagine they would wait until Tuesday.
I hope the scum running the elections in Ohio have a really horrible life. I wish disease, destruction, and horrible personal sadness on every one of their Repuglican and DINO asses. May they rot and suffer for their crimes against Democracy.

Joan, I agree he's got to be fairly comfortable, but I have to respect his tenacity in not letting this die. Boy when I came here last night I was too pissed and depressed to even comment on the debacle Ca #50 judicial decision. Then I came here today and find out MM from AAR got canned. WTF, it can't get much worse. I do have one bright spot. I'll be taking my class to be an election judge this year on 9-27 for the NOV elections. Decided to give up the days pay to get off my ass and take my country back. #4 & #5 don't wanna go back to not knowing, I absolutely hate the taste of sand. I Had a lively discussion in my business today, sales reps and clients. . About the state of the world, politics and business. My one sales rep reccomended to the other one about the movie Loose change and everyone should see it. The other sales rep said she didn't want to know, it was depressing and she would just get pissed. I told her that was what was wrong with Americans, give me a pill to make it all better, Thank God the framers of our constitution weren't so scared of everything. I told her it was a bout time Americans got pissed off and did something about it, Complacency was going to kill our country if people don't stand up for themselves. She said well theres nothing we could do because "THEY" control everything, I reminded her there were more of us then them, to vote with our dollars. Told everyone about CA# 50 judicial decision, I was scared for my country and my kids. Told everyone to watch C-Span. We need to know the bills and laws they are passing which effect EVERYONE of us. I have over 200 tv stations and I think C-span is my favorite. Then one of my favorite clients piped up and said, Well you know everything I had said was the truth and people bettter wake up. HE MADE MY DAY. The conclusion I keep coming to is I just cannot shut up about this country and the sate it is in. I want my country back. One of the sales reps offered me a job to represent one of the product lines I use. Reason, she liked how honest I was in the things I say and would be a good represenative for the product line because I believe in it. Well Whaddya Know, people are waking up.

Bush Link To Kennedy Assasination Video Scroll down to the Title "Bush Link To Kennedy Assaination." "Watch video for free" Fast connection and 1.5 hours so major Bandwidth required.
Yesterday I was trying to tell the innocent in a liquor store what had happened in a San Diego courtroom. Really though we are all mostly innocent until someone investigates happenings and gives us the lowdown and some evidence to back it up. The innocent are most often the uninformed or those who are too lazy or comfortable to want to know.
I am innocent ( lacking knowledge ) in lots of stuff because reading is exhausting for me re slight neurological injury. Pre-injury I was pretty quick but that was a long time ago. I still do try though but not nearly as much as I would like. So I love this website where people are all researching and doing legwork which I would like to do but am not able to.
Watched a google video today which has most likely been posted before but it was so gripplingly creepy I'm posting it again. This video needs a fast connection and lots of bandwidth. FROM PORKBUSTERS.ORG
Senators Tom Coburn and Barak Obama have proposed legislation that would create a single website with access to information on nearly all recipients of federal funding. The bill cannot proceed because one or more Senators placed a "secret hold" on it. The list of Senators who have not explicitly denied being the holder is down to five.

My letter to the FBI. Please do NOT contact the agent in question on this. Let this cook on it's own.
------
Attn: Agent David Schmidt, San Francisco Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation
8/29/06
Agent Schmidt,
Thank you for speaking with me by phone yesterday afternoon.
The files you need regarding Diebold Election Systems and their apparent "sidestepping" of the Federal voting system certification process are in a series of PDF documents I have created. Rather than attach them I'll provide weblinks, as your EMail server will probably strip attachments due to security concerns.
I am going to CC three additional activists in this field. The information contained herein has been generally broadcast on websites devoted to this issue. Please note that the latest hard evidence obtained by myself dates to 8/16/06 (page five, first link below).
Let me sketch out some background, as the document set was originally intended for agencies such as the California Secretary of State who would be familiar with the certification process.
* Voting systems are certified under a set of standards published by the Federal Election Commission. These "Voting Systems Standards" were last updated in 2002 so you'll see references to "certified to the 2002 standards" or similar.
* The FEC approves private test labs available for hire to voting systems vendors for system review. Currently there are three: Cyber (formerly Metamor) and Wyle, in voting system certification offices based in Huntsville AL and Systest in Colorado I believe.
* For many years the paperwork for certifications and the lab's recommendations "yay or nay" on a given system were reviewed by a quasi-private organization known as "NASED" - National Association of State Elections Directors. NASED is funded in part by the voting system industry and theoretically represents the interests of state-level election managers, either Secretaries of State (California, Florida, etc.), sometimes the Lt. Governor (Alaska, Utah, some others) and sometimes state elections boards. The final federal stamp of approval on a voting machine is known as a "NASED number".
* NASED's functions on election certification oversight are being taken over by the new EAC, Election Assistance Commission. The EAC hasn't fully come "up to speed" and is still largely a non-entity. NIST (National Institute for Science and Technology) is also getting involved, slowly, but again mostly isn't at the controls yet. Put simply, the improved election oversight processes mandated in the HAVA bill of 2002 (Help America Vote Act) have been under funded (or unfunded depending on who you ask) and are slow coming online.
* 37 states require Federal certification before the state considers a given voting system. These states mostly do either minimal or no analysis of the security and honesty of the voting systems themselves, relying on the "NASED number" as a stamp of approval. Only one state does full local source code review, North Carolina, and even they don't do it themselves - they mandate that political parties can hire up to five programmers each to do so. Shortly after passing this sole independent source code review law, Diebold abandoned all marketing efforts in North Carolina citing this law.
The core issue that we are complaining about regards misconduct by Diebold - to be blunt, they mislead the certification staff and process about their products and in so doing evaded oversight of much of their key code. The effect was to prevent anyone outside of the company reviewing large amounts of custom software written and maintained by Diebold and functioning in their touchscreen voting systems. This is a fundamental violation of both the certification and the fundamental reason for certification.
This core misconduct is outlined in the following two documents:
http://www.equalccw.com/...incefraudwalkthrough.pdf - an overview of Diebold's Windows CE-related fraud. Five pages.
http://www.equalccw.com/...lee-wincedeclaration.pdf - the declaration of Dr. Richard Lee. This document must always be attached to the "Walkthrough" article above. Three pages.
Those documents represent an investigation occurring over a period of three years by numerous citizens concerned about the direction electronic voting is headed. I believe there is enough "probable cause" here (or available with a brief review of the public records pointed to) to warrant (pardon the pun) subpoenas and examination under oath.
Please understand that neither myself nor anyone else paying attention to this issue believes that this is Diebold's worst "sin" in terms of basic computer security violations. Rather, it is the most blatantly illegal and the aspect of their misconduct that you will have the strongest legal grounds to investigate.
In addition, some evidence points to persons unknown within NASED taking active steps to cover up this specific misconduct. It is not as solid or multi-layered an investigation to date but it's intriguing and if it holds, the implications are frightening. This same oversight process reviews all electronic voting systems in the US.
http://www.equalccw.com/thenasedblues.pdf
Those are the core documents.
In addition, I have prepared a 12-page broader overview of what else Diebold has been up to that may compromise electoral security:
http://www.equalccw.com/...ieboldsinsandsecrecy.pdf
Some of the issues outlined are...horrifying, but not illegal. Some are illegal. It will be a quagmire sorting out some of this...run these docs past one of your more technically proficient agents/consultants and watch their face(s) go white. I recommend using this as background material, however if your agency starts by "digging deep" in the Windows CE issue (the core complaint) all sorts of other things will unravel.
Please understand that I am not the only one making complaints. This letter is from the head of the Alaska Democratic Party to his state's elections officials asking for an explanation of these issues:
http://www.votetrustusa....;id=1660&Itemid=1155
This is a letter from a Wisconsin professional software tester to his state elections agency:
http://www.votetrustusa....mp;id=1648&Itemid=51
However, as you can see from the level of interstate and Federal issues raised, ultimately this falls under the jurisdiction of the FBI and/or US Attorneys.
One final comment: the US Department of Justice has taken the position that at least some electronic voting machines are required in every state for "disability access" per HAVA. Lawsuits by that agency have been threatened against individual counties across America and the entire state of New York for one. This is not improper, so long as the Federal process to make sure those machines are reliable and honest is also enforced. The evidence available says it is not. If this is the case, for the United States federal government to use it's enormous powers to push systems that they themselves have failed to properly certify is, potentially, a hideous miscarriage of justice on a national scale.
I urge you, I beg you to take this complaint seriously.
Thank you for your kind attention,
Jim March

First, that letter can be used elsewhere. It's a pretty good intro to the subject.
Second, whether the FBI does anything or not isn't that important. What's important is to make the effort to get 'em in...to put these guys and the various state/county officials on notice.
Then, when they don't do anything, our options expand.
Please, please don't assume I'm *relying* on this. Not hardly.

Hey, I rode on a plane doing that over Belize years ago. Thrill a minute. Not. Obviously managed to land safely, but it was like being in the stomach of an insect during a hurricane.
Nighty night, sweet dreams!

I get it Jim, if they are curious at all, like good investigators should be, the rest could fall into place pretty easily for them with the access they enjoy
(if they're not already in on it at the upper levels)
We'll see
Damn great start though
Gives me new hope after seeing Turd "tubes" Stevens and his kid Ben's offices being raided

Your Right to Vote - Is It Under Assault?
NOW
Programming Note from truthout
Airdate: Friday, September 1, 2006, at 8:30 p.m. on PBS.

Your right to vote - is it under assault? This time on NOW.
Across the nation, states have enacted new laws supposedly designed to prevent voter fraud and avoid election day debacles, but qualified voters may also be left out in the cold, especially minorities, the poor, the elderly and the disabled. On September 1 at 8:30 p.m., NOW looks at several states where these new rules may keep voters away from the polls in November. In Florida, new penalties for registration delays forced traditional registration advocacy groups, like the League of Women Voters, to avoid registering voters for a crucial primary. In Georgia, a law requires voters to show photo identification, a barrier to voting for thousands of people who currently lack the proper ID. Many of these laws have been approved by the Department of Justice, which is charged with protecting the rights of all voters.
"This is a concerted effort to make sure that certain people don't have the opportunity to vote, that they don't have the opportunity to participate in their own democracy," Georgia state representative Alisha Thomas Morgan told NOW.
Also, David Brancaccio interviews Salon reporter Eric Boehlert about the effectiveness of a new Iraqi offensive. This time on NOW.
Note: The NOW website will provide additional coverage starting Friday morning, September 1. Features include the 11 worst places in America to vote, a state-by-state overview of election rights, and a closer look at the Voting Rights Act.

#43 Old Turk,
How very sad that is.
But did you notice? Someone in that article suggested that maybe our georgie could do something similar:
"...With a dozen or so Flat Deciders™, he could attend nearly every soldier's funeral. I doubt most people would even notice that he's only a cardboard cut-out. Indeed... the Flat Decider™ is merely a cold, heartless, two-dimensional rendition of a real human being...no one will be able to tell the difference..."

bu$$hco and DoJ may have been caught red handed,..
A Federal Judge in Eugene Oregon asks the government prosecution team if NSA wiretaps were used to collect evidence against a group of domestic "eco-terrorists" who were recently indicted. If the evidence gathered for a criminal trial was not collected with the proper required court warrants,.. the judge may toss the entire case. You can not violate one's civil rights and constitutional rights to enhance your ability to criminally prosecute them. Abu-Gitmo Gonzalez certainly knows better than to pull crap like this.
Thank goodness this judge too questions this illegal wiretap - standard practice and procedure of bu$$hco.

BB-2 - (C) # 44
This is not exactly what I meant,.. (C)#43,.. but
BlueBear - I think your idea of the inflatable companion (doll) may not be as novel an idea as you may have initially anticipated. I regret to inform you that this money making idea may not prove to be as lucrative a proposition as you may have hoped. Research indicates - the available market is near saturation levels.
In the event that you should decide to proceed with this business venture,.. and you derive a profit,.. you know where to send the royalty and dividend checks to my attentions.

Something strange just happened in the case of the rumor that Jeff Gannon may have been abducted as a child. Michael Moore has a story on his website that doesn't make a connection to Gannon, but Moore provides a link to stories on Goggle about it.
Apparently, the mom of the kidnapped kid just received a picture of her son, tied up and gagged just after the incident 24 years ago. Hmmmmmm!
Why does Gannon refuse to answer when asked questions about this? Now THIS is an interesting preditor story, and it doesn't involve shutting down the internet!

The Miami "ISLAMO-FASCIST GANG" who was planning to bomb the Chicago Sear's Tower,.. that case is rapidly falling apart. Like so many other breathless terror alerts and captured terrorist groups,.. it is a political mirage of a terrorist threat rather than a genuine threat or danger.
This "crime of Islamo-fascist terrorism" was a crime manufactured by the FBI and FBI informants - would likely never have occurred without encouragement,.. inducements,.. financial support and other meddling by the government and it's agents to bring this "crime" to fruition. A Rove-ian ploy of political diversion to keep the public in a constant state of being cowered by habitual fear. An endless state of threat of terrorist attack that can only be kept in check by support of bu$$hco and their cronies at the ballot box.
