Now that the U.S. House of Representatives has defeated the Gay Marriage Ban Amendment and Louisiana courts have overturned the ban on gay marriage in that state, it does not mean you must marry a homosexual.
That goes for heterosexuals in any state that may allow gay marriage in the future.
To be clear: Heterosexuals needn’t feel threatened by gay marriage since there will be no requirement that they must marry someone of the same sex. That will be optional.
As well, you needn’t feel that gay marriage is a threat to your heterosexual marriage. Such marriages will still be allowed just as they were before gay marriage was allowed. You will not need to change your marital status in any way, shape or form.
I hope I’ve cleared up any confusion and helped to put you at ease.

Thank God. I thought I was going to have to divorce my wife… 🙂
i dont know how to bring this up. Apparently i only heard Rick Santorum’s explanation of what would happen if our laws were changed. Are we going to be forced to marry animals and breed a race of animal people ala Kamandi, last boy on earth?
Where’s Big Tony Scalia when you need him?
The purpose of not allowing two same sex people to be married is that we as a society do not want to promote perversion, abnormality, sodomy, and depravity. Those things should not be promoted or taught that they are equal to the God ordained institution of marriage, which is between a male and a female, and natural and normal.
Someone please explain to me this idea of policing your neighbors and forcing them into some narrow view of religion.
What’s between a homosexual and his/her deity is of there own concern. I don’t appreciate the government wasting my elected officials’ time nor the use of my tax money pursuing this issue any further.
You either respect freedom of choice for all, or you deny freedom of choice to all. Its just that simple.
(Somewhere in the PAST, Church of England members are laughing at us.)
Paul, last time I checked marriage had become a civil institution, what with all those judges marrying people and all.
Paul,
you’re against sodomy? Tell it to Jerry Falwell. According to him in the marital bed "anything goes." Although i will have to dig my eyes out now to get such an image out of my head, he is a pretty good judge of right wing Christianity.
You dont want depravity? i think if we got out the scales of justice a little sodomy (which isnt necessarily wrong according to Mr. Falwell) is to me a lot less disturbing than the maiming of close to 30 thousand Americans. A lot less appalling than the deaths of almost 1100 Americans, a lot less appalling than the deaths of close to 20,ooo Iraqis, a lot less disgusting than the maimed civilians of an illegal and unjust war,
Why be outraged against literal screwin when the figurative screwing by this administration is so much greater? i guess its just easier to get into the distraction rather than holding Bush accountable.
Paul said:
"we as a society do not want to promote perversion, abnormality, sodomy, and depravity"
a) YOU are not "society". So please don’t tell me what "we" want to promote or not.
b) Your perversion, abnormality, sodomy and depravity is my normal. You make me sick with your heterosexual sex. Therefore, I’m gonna ban it.
c) Since when are you against sodomy?
d) Keep your religion the hell out of my bedroom.
e) If you were a real conservative, instead of a fake one, you’d agree.
Pheeeew…..
Now will someone please put to rest another rumour….?
I heard that the reason for marriage is to procreate….does that mean people in their 70’s will no longer be allowed to marry…? I mean they can no longer conceive a child right? As a christian nation, are we going to start punnishing people that can’t get pregnant or simply don’t want children?
Just wondering
