For hundreds of years, the cartoonists and other lampooners of the ruling class were early in breaking the fog of propaganda.

Has anyone ever actually been polled by Zogby or ABC/IPSOS or Gallup or any other major poll? I haven't and I can't recollect anyone that I've ever known who has, either. I'm beginning to suspect that these people, like the lottery winners in 1984 or the winners in The Running Man actually exist.
Anyway, while you’re waiting for Jon Stewart to entertain you tonight at the Oscars, I have a new Assclowns of the Week.

Substituting the phone-poll cartoon for someone writing his opinion to a "politically incorrect" blog site and it wouldn't be lampooning.
I'd call it reality!

You have no idea how the buzz of helicopters and blimps drives me crazy right now as Jon Stewart prepares for the Oscars. I'm about two blocks away from the Kodak Theater...
Please let it end soon!

I only have cable (satellite), no broadcast networks. This wouldn't matter at all (never seen an Oscar's night in my life) except that I'd like to see Jon Stewart.:-\
Great 'toon. I've never in my life been polled either, except for marketing surveys, and neither has my 84-year-old mother. I've had suspicions similar to JPork's.

Once in a while Zogby e-mails me their poll. It is very long and time-consuming each time, however, I want to register my opinion.

pollitics as usual
It may be true that everything which exists can be used correctly or incorrectly.
Like taking someone's temperature.
I think polling is like taking one's temperature with a thermometer ... one can use it to make good corrections, or one can ignore it at the peril of the patient.
Polls tell office holders what the people are thinking. Good office holders will heed, and bad office holders will increase the propaganda to try to deceive.
I expect the republicans to buy some poll companies next ... now that they have bought the right wing mainstream media.
What they fail to realize is that they are only fooling the fools. Adding baggage to a ship of fools.
