“Senator Kerry has voted against funding weapons systems vital to fighting and winning the war on terror.”
– Vice-President, Dick Cheney 4/27/2004
“Over the course of the last year, since I’ve been secretary, I’ve recommended terminating, canceling, shutting down 20 separate weapons programs. In most cases, most cases, Congress has resisted those cuts.”
– Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney 1990
(P.S. Who’s the flip-flopper again? Don’t even get me started on the many flips and even more flops of Dubya!)
(P.P.S. Wondering about the many faces of Richard B. Cheney? Take a look at the official Whitehouse photo on the right. Cover the left half of his face and take a look at the nice old man. Now, cover the right half of his face and meet his evil twin!)

Brad,
Do you know if Cheney supported cancelling any of the weapons programs Kerry voted against?
Yes. We do. Precisely many of those programs. Had planned to post a followup about it, but here’s a nice roundup for you courtesy of your good friends at the O’Franken Factor (not to worry, the info is sourced, so it’s not merely speculation from the Lefties).
To read it, scroll to the "BUSH/CHENEY: FAILING THE TROOPS" item at http://ofrankenfactor.com
(Unfortunately, they don’t offer precise links yet over there, but it’s just a few items down from the top).
Brad,
You forgot a couple of things.
Kerry, in the past, has advocated cutting weapons programs such as the AH-64 Apache helicopter, the Aegis air-defense cruiser, and the F-14 and F-15 fighters. He also called for a 50% reduction in the Tomahawk cruise missile. He also called for cuts in the M-1 Abrams tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and the F-16 jet.
And he did vote against the appropriations bills (1990, 95) and authorizations (90, 95, 96) that would have supplied money for those programs.
He started voting for those bills in 1997, just after Bill Weld nearly beat him in the US Senate race, one in which Kerry’s anti-military spending nearly cost him his seat.
But at least he now knows those votes were "ill-advised" and "stupid." Of course, he said that in 6/2003, just around the time one entertains running for President. How convenient…
Speaking of "convenience" and political expediency, please see my follow-up to this item which I’ll be posting in the next five minutes or so. I’m sure it’ll help you see where you are – at the very least – being either disingenous or misinformed. Perhaps the upcoming post will help you come to a more informed position.
